How to unlock the Momentum Stealer achievement in Madden NFL 22 - Definitive Guide
I honestly didn't think Madden could come up with a more annoying achievement than Triple Crown a few years ago (strip, scoop and score on one play), or the MUT achievements, but I was wrong.
This is a PITA.
First of all, credit for this goes to NoHeroes94 for posting this in a forum thread. I tweaked it a little bit.
Important: the description is misleading. This is not for moving the needle from one side to the other. This is for the biggest momentum swing in a SINGLE PLAY. We're going to do this with an end zone pick six while getting blown out by the away team.
Because I'm lazy and didn't want to make a full 99 roster, I downloaded 99BEARS from the community. It's pretty good, but only one CB (Trufant) is rated 99. You may want to dial up the other CBs to make this easier.
To download rosters, on the Main Menu go to the right to the NFL shield. Share & Manage Files => Download Community Files. Find 99BEARS and download it. Once you do that, before you back out to the main menu, go to the right to Load and Delete Files. You MUST load the 99BEARS roster to set this up.
Now go to Exhibition.
I played Bears (player 1) at home, and Texans (player 2).
Player 1 MUST be at home. The host seems to get more of a momentum swing when there's a great play.
In advanced settings before you start the game, I set it so that the Bears would receive and the Texans would kick. We want Chicago with the ball.
In-Game Set-Up:
First: go into settings. Move all pass coverage and interception sliders to 100 for both Player and CPU Skill. Turn off the Play Clock.
Once you get to the kickoff, we need the Texans to run up the score. As Player 1, catch the ball, run out of the end zone (if it's caught in the end zone), then quickly run back INTO the end zone. Have your receiver run left horizontally across the end zone, then press LB to "lateral" the ball to nobody. When the Texans recover in the end zone, it's a TD.
The Texans will kick off again. Same thing. Repeat until the Texans' meter is completely full. When it is, have the Bears run out of the zone, but then run back in for a safety. We want the Texans on the field now.
Punt to the Texans, then as you push the receiver forward (I go left), spam B-A-B-A with your player 1 (Bears) to keep switching to the nearest defender and diving. As long as the receiver stays away from the defenders, you should be clear.
Run out of bounds at the 5. This gives the Texans a very short field.
If the momentum meter falls below full (incomplete pass, sack, whatever), have your Bears defender run across the line and tag the QB. This should bump the meter back toward the Texans.
Play Call:
Texans (Player 2) - Stick (find it via Play Type > Pass). There are multiple stick play-calls, found it easiest with the one where the left-most receiver is running a straight/flat route. However, because Trufant isn't on the outside, we're also going to run a hot route at the line.
Bears (Player 1) - Cover 2 Hard Flat (find it via Play Type > Zone Defense/Coverage). Doesn't have to be this specific defense, but I found it easy as the back seven all drop back into zone coverage immediately and vertically.
Before the snap, have the Texans press Y to call up hot routes, press B to select that receiver then push the RS up to set up a fade route. Otherwise, that receiver will run an out to the left. We don't want that.
Action:
As Player 1 (Bears), select Trufant pre-snap (hold B and move left until he's selected) and do nothing else. Pretty sure it needs to be a user INT, meaning you must be controlling the player who will be covering the receiver we're about the throw to. However, to be honest, I'm actually not sure that I got a user pick on my run. Try for it just in case.
As Player 2 (Texans), snap the ball, and tap B to throw to the receiver that Trufant is covering. The ball will be lobbed, so it will be easier to do a user INT.
Quickly switch to Player 1, who should still be on Trufant. Then perform a user INT with Y. Then try return it for a touchdown. Run it back even if it isn't Trufant. Just run down the field. On the Texans controller, go back to spamming B-A-B-A to make them keep falling down.
NoHeroes94 said he got his deep in the end zone, but I was just on the goal line when I got the achievement.
Notes:
Using this method, I was able to pick off the ball almost every attempt. My problem was getting out of traffic to make the run back. If this happens, have the Bears lateral in the end zone (again) and push the meter back up.
Best of luck with this mess. At least it's obtainable now.

Can anyone confirm any additional criteria not listed? Since the patch that has rendered the achievement obtainable, I've still been unable to unlock it. I've met the requirements in Franchise off-line mode; in Play Now mode; I've done it as the only user; I've done it against a local user; I've completed the game after having the full momentum swing without any simulating; nothing has worked.

Nevermind my last comment. I didn't understand that it had to be the biggest possible momentum swing in a single play. I was under the impression that it was simply a swing from full momentum one way to full momentum the other way.

Momentum is a new feature added in Madden NFL 22, you will notice a meter on top of the scoreboard that goes up and down after every play. You will need to allow the opponent to fill up there meter completely and the stadium will start shaking. You can do this by allowing touchdowns on purpose, and negative plays. Now you will need to let the opponent get close to scoring another touchdown while they have full momentum, and you will need to intercept the ball from the opponents end zone and return it for a touchdown to have the maximum momentum shift in your favor. Using 2 controllers is highly recommended but if this is not an option playing on Rookie Difficulty and raising the quarter lengths will make this slightly easier to achieve.
