How to unlock the Motor Museum achievement in Mafia: Definitive Edition - Definitive Guide
All credit goes to PowerPyx who has made all the guides. I've just put them on TA to help!
There are a total of 36 vehicles you can own in Mafia. All you need are 30 to unlock this achievement.
You can easily get the achievement for owning 15 cars during the story. During free roam you have a better chance of unlocking all the cars, all you need to do is just sit in them and they will appear in your garage next time you are there.

There are a total of 36 vehicles in the game. To add a vehicle to your garage, all you need to do is sit in it.
There are 26 vehicles available out in the open during the story chapters and in ‘Free Ride’. Next, there are five more vehicles unlocked if you locate them through the post cards side missions (refer to Car Thief Number One (50G)). Finally, the remaining five are unlocked by completing the Phone Booth side missions (no direct achievements related to them so these side missions are optional).
Just by playing through the story you should naturally accumulate about 12-15 vehicles. The remaining ones are available in ‘Free Ride’, either on the street or unlocked through the aforementioned side missions. There are some vehicles that spawn very rarely and only in certain locations, such as the Bolt Cooler (found mainly in Works Quarter) and the Bolt Mail (found north of the city). Certain vehicles are only found in certain districts, so as you are gathering collectibles, be on the lookout for vehicles you think you might need. Remember, if you are having trouble finding 30, you can always complete the optional Phone Booth side missions for five of them.
PowerPyx has a comprehensive guide of all the vehicles HERE, featuring possible locations and images. The Mafia Wiki also has images and locations of most vehicles.

Most of the cars you'll get just be completing the story. Any story-related car can also be found in Free Ride. The five Hidden Cars (see Car Thief Number One ) will count towards this, as will the bonus cars you get for playing the Mafia II and III Definitive Editions. Some of the phone booth missions that are available in Free Ride also give you cars that count.

Pay attention to the ice cream machine. I found it by accident and, as it turned out, it was what was missing for the trophy. There is no need to drive cars to the garage. You just need to sit in them and wait for the save, then you can go out and look for a new one, the car will be counted.
