Hey solution to the glitchy achievements for some odd reason if an achievement doesn’t unlock after doing the objective I opened up the Xbox app and viewed said achievements and pop the unlocked on my Xbox the second I clicked on them. Hope this helps. I had 7 unlock at once

Mafia Definitive Edition has a total of 172 collectibles - 50 Mystery Foxes, 22 Cigarette Cards, 20 Dime Detectives, 20 Black Masks, 20 Super Science Stories, 20 Terror Tales, 10 Gangsters Monthly, 5 Post Cards and 5 Hidden Cars

You need all of them for various achievements. Fortunately, none of them can be missed. There are two types of collectibles, story and free roam collectibles. Story collectibles only spawn and collectable during the story.

These collectibles can you pick up every time via chapter select. All collectibles are immediately saved. Free roam collectibles are of course available in Free roam which is called Free Ride and in the story too! This mode unlock after chapter 2 or 3.

In the story you can also find a lot of available free roam collectibles close to the story. If you follow my story video, you will have collected 81 of the 172 collectibles at the end. The remaining 91 collectibles are in the seperate free roam video guide.

There are 50 Mystery Foxes to be found during Mafia 1. 5 are in Chapters and the other 45 are in free roam. PowerPyx has made a video guide for all 50.

!! WARNING !! EXTREMLY BUGGY !!

As you can see 1 year after release the "collect everything" achievement still got more unlocks than the "collect all mystery foxes". The other guides didn't mention this problem, so I created this "guide" to help each other to unlock this cheevo on the easiest way.

Please, if you have any experience how to unlock or not, share in comment!

I read about this problem on forums and looks like the bug is in the game not in the achievement, every platform involved. When you check your statistic page only 1 fox missing. Same bug occured to everyone. Also cannot check which one missing.

Some players revisited each mystery fox location with no luck. I think it's because you got the "collect everything" achievement, so actually not missing a single fox.

I played trough the game on Hard and not picked up any foxes just a few magazines until finished the story. Then found every collectible in a single sit and bugged.

SUGGESTION
Your best chance is to play the story until Chapter 17 meanwhile ignore other objects and collectibles. At this point you can collect the last story related fox then go for the others in freeplay mode. Those who unlocked it on a second walktrough did this way.

MISSING BOXES AT FENCES
Some players reported missing boxes, so they cannot jump trough fences to collect hidden foxes. You can use a car or truck to climb up, but it's not so easy. The easiest way to fix this is simply go to Salieri's bar and check the paintings to change the weather.

As I remember I deleted my save from Xbox menu, local and cloud files. This is the only way to start over the entire game.

How would you do a 2nd play through for going for the foxes? I've had my count on foxes glitch at 49/50. I tried deleting my save data hoping it would give me a new chance to start over from 0 but still stuck at 49/50

Any advice on how to get my save file erase? I tried going into my hard drive and deleting save file on system and cloud save and all my collectibles are still at 100% and foxes at 49/50

In order to unlock this achievement you need to collect a total of 50 Mystery Foxes.

Beware that some of the Mystery Foxes need to be found while in the Story Chapters.
The remaining are found in Free Ride. You can access it from the Main Menu after playing the first Story Chapter.

To find most of them look for a white fox icon on a wall or fence. This indicates that the Mystery Fox is nearby.

This was driving me insane. I was sure I did all 50. I use Map Genie for most of these collectable type achievements and I was so confused when I checked the last one any I was only on 49/50. Literally unchecked them all and started over ignoring the mission based Foxes as I knew I had them all and went through every free roam one again. It was only when I watched the video above I realised I missed the Fox at Clark's Motel. I obviously thought I had collected it during Chapter 4: Ordinary Routine but I don't think it is even possible.

There are 50 Mystery Fox collectibles in the game. There are 12 found in the story chapters and 38 in ‘Free Ride’ mode. When a fox is nearby, there will be an indicator in the form of a drawing on a wall very close to the collectible.
 
Although these collectibles are not required for The Whole Story (100G), the videos in that achievement include them.

(Missable)

The foxes are usually in hidden areas or easily accessible areas, just behind a wall or over a ledge. If you're close, they'll be marked by a white fox head spray painted on a wall. There are 50 total and five of them are in the story in chapters 9, 11, 14, 15, and 17.

Wherever there is a fox, there is a white chalk drawing of the fox's head. The fox itself is a small stuffed animal. If you carefully examine the level, you can find it. There are 50 of them in total. It takes a long time to find)

As of 10/12/2020 there is an error in the trophy:
one of the foxes is not counted, although it is collected.
Apparently the airport fox does not count if collected during a mission rather than during a walk. There is also talk about this error on English-language forums.

And a very small addition to collecting the fox in the “country walk” mission. The fox needs to be picked up at the moment when Sam is shot and the whole brigade is rushing to his aid. Immediately after the moment of shooting at Sam, we run to the right, there is a small barn with a fox symbol, it is the fox that is glitchy. I didn’t collect it before, but it didn’t count, perhaps because I collected it while walking. If you have 49 foxes out of 50, check this option, and then check if you missed a fox somewhere else.

If you restart the mission to collect stuffed animals, just pick up the fox. It is not necessary to complete the mission to the end. But, just in case, wait until the autosave icon in the upper right corner disappears.

Don't take the fox from the Omerta (Airport) mission, it must be taken on a walk. personally verified.
If the bug doesn’t work and everything is fine, you’re lucky. if like me, I took 50, and the counter shows 49 - delete the game progress (not the game itself) from the curling iron and start again, skip trips, run, where you can do this (playing, of course, at a low level, so that there are no problems with same race)
and, after completing the 17th chapter “Re-election” (prison escape), go to the main menu, the Walk should be unlocked and according to the guide above, collect the remaining 45 foxes (5 in the missions described above).

For those who have collected all 50 foxes, but do not have a trophy, the only option is to delete all saves and go through it again. In principle, it doesn’t take much time, set the difficulty level to the lowest and skip the trips, collect all the foxes according to the plot in chapter 17, and then go for a walk. It took me 2 hours to do everything, taking into account missing all the cut scenes and trips.

Addition to previous tip:
At first I also thought that the fox from the airport was not counted. Collected 49 out of 50 and went nuts. I reviewed the screenshots with the selection of this particular fox and realized that the problem was not with her. I then picked her up during the mission and everything counted. I went through all the places where they are located again and discovered this interesting detail: in the Country Walk mission, on the farm, there is a fox that you can pick up. I, of course, didn’t do this, but decided to leave this moment for the Walk. And yes, she appeared in this mode (although I read in many places that she would not be there and should be taken precisely at the moment of saving Sam), but for some reason it was not counted when taken. I replayed this mission and lo and behold - it was exactly the missing fox!
So, pick up hidden foxes during missions and there shouldn’t be any problems. The latest fix seems to have fixed everything.
