How to unlock the No Loose Ends achievement in Mafia III: Definitive Edition - Definitive Guide

EDIT: This achievement seems to be broken at the moment, thanks to commenters for the update. Like the "The New Boss" achievement, it appears this achievement is somewhat fixed, but may also require you to do a fresh playthrough of the game in order to unlock it.

There are a total of 18 Racket Bosses in the game. With the exception of 2 of them, you will get the choice of either killing them or recruiting them. You need to KILL all of them. The best way to make this achievement go as smooth as possible is to NOT wiretap the areas the Racket Bosses are in - this will make Lincoln kill them automatically, and you won't get the choice of recruiting them.

Note that for the second Racket Boss encountered in the game, there's a mandatory setup of a wiretap, so be careful with this one and make sure to press cn_A to kill him.

If you feel that you're missing the benefits of wiretapping you can upgrade Vito to get the "Inside Man", which works much in the same way as a wiretap (It reveals enemies on the map and through walls).

I was finally able to get this! rock
I can confirm doing it all in one sitting unlocked the achievement for me. I recently got my Series X which I think is a necessity as my One X would crash while running the game, next gen has the power to run this game more smoothly.

On my Series X, I installed the game onto the internal SSD. No DLC installed except for 2 weapon pack DLCs. Then I made sure to delete all saved data on the cloud, just to be safe.
Next, I hard reset/full shutdown my Xbox (long pressed power button). Once it booted back up, I started a brand new play through.

I made sure to never close the game or quit to the main menu, I died a few time so thats fine.
The game never crashed on me but there were a handful (like 4 or 5) of “mini-freezes” where the game appeared to have froze, but going to the dashboard/home and clicking on the game again fixed this everytime. The game never closed all the way, which is what seems to cause the issues.

After about 7 or so hours, I got the achievement. I never even killed Tommy, Lou or Olivia/Remy, i.e., once I killed the 2 racket bosses in Southdowns and the French Ward, I just left and when on to the next district. Achievement popped after killing the boss at the slave/auction building thing in Frisco Fields.
Best of luck to whoever attempts this, this was my fourth attempt. (First on Series X)

TL;DR
Play on Xbox Series X.
Game installed on Internal SSD.
Delete ALL saved data.
No DLC installed (except gun DLCs).
Must be done in one sitting (no quitting/crashes).
Deaths allowed.
Good luck.👍🏻 wave

You should be able to, because you don’t need to leave your console on to utilize quick resume. I’m not sure if a power outage would affect quick resume, since I rarely use it, but as long as a game is showing up in the quick resume queue, it should be fine. I couldn’t do it in one sitting either, both because of time constraints and because after six unsuccessful attempts at this achievement, I’ve really become sick of this game, but after I finished for the day, I just went to the dashboard, turned my console off, and when I went back to it the next day, I just loaded the game from the dashboard, and quick resume kicked in, putting me right back where I was. I got “The New Boss” on the 24th, doing the same thing I did for this achievement, although I had to start a new run through after the game crashed, which only happened to me once during my attempts at both racket boss achievements, though the game did freeze for a few seconds a handful of times during both playthroughs, which was anxiety inducing each time. I got the “Family” achievement about five years prior, so I’m not sure what the problem would be there, but it seems what voids the racket boss ones is quitting to the menu or the game crashing, so if you’re using quick resume, you should be fine. Also, something to note that I didn’t think of, a friend pointed out to me that for “The New Boss”, you can completely skip the slavery racket in Frisco Fields, since no matter what, Lincoln automatically kills him, whether the district is wiretapped or not. I’m not sure if this applies to this achievement as well, though I suspect not, since you should only have to kill 16 of the 18 bosses, given that you can’t recruit Merle Jackson in the Hollow either.

I just got this today. For anyone wondering, I did it on Series X, without doing any of the wiretaps (aside from the first one that you do automatically), in probably around 11-12 hours, over the course of two days, using quick resume, and doing the minimum amount of damage to draw out the bosses. I only had to do two of the main missions after killing the district bosses, the one with Frank Pagani in Tickfaw and the one with Enzo Conti in Barclay Mills. The order I did them in (excluding the first three to recruit Cassandra, Vito, and Burke) was Tickfaw (right after I finished with the bosses I did the Frank Pagani mission, after which Donovan showed up on the map for the Southdowns district), Southdowns, Barclay (after the bosses I did the Enzo Conti mission, and got the briefing for Frisco), Frisco, Downtown, and then French Ward. I finished Delray, River Row, Pointe Verdun, Tickfaw, and Southdowns the first day, in about 6 and a half hours, after which I found a safe spot, went to the homepage, and turned my Xbox off (I probably could have finished Barclay too, but I was getting pretty sick of it). Second day, I had a brief moment of panic when I started the game back up, because it looked as though the game was launching normally, but then "Quick Resume" showed in the corner, and it showed me where I had left off. Went on to finish Barclay, Frisco, and Downtown in probably about three hours. After I finished Downtown, I had to talk to Donovan about Remy Duvall and Alvaraz, after which the prompts to talk to the people in The French Ward came up. After I killed the second boss in the French Ward, the achievement popped about five (agonizing) seconds later. French Ward probably took around 45 minutes, putting the grand total at a little over 11 hours of gameplay. I still have to do the achievement for recruiting all the bosses, but I'm going to take a week off before I put myself through all this again. I’ll update if when I get the other one. I hope this helps.
Edit: someone messaged me asking about it, and I realized I completely glossed over the fact that I had to do the Tony Derazio mission Downtown as well. It was after I completed that mission that I spoke to Donovan about Alvarez and Remy Duvall, and then got the prompts for The French Ward.

iLoganW x - Same happened to me, but it should unlock after you kill the last racket boss before gaining access to the last capo. I looked up a list of the racket bosses and pinpointed which one I need through the process of elimination. Will report back if it unlocks after I kill him in another playthrough.

Pretty sure the latest patch broke this achievement. I've killed every single boss 2-3 times now and still no achievement. Nobody has unlocked it since Jan 27 which is odd and a Playstation person on reddit said the same thing is happening to them so I think it's broken right now.

I started a brand new playthrough and did no wiretaps. Game crashed numerous times.

Can't comment on The New Boss as I got that before it before the January update.

@NBA Kirkland - I did three playthroughs before the achievement popped; playthrough one was before the patch, playthrough two was after the patch with an overwritten save, and playthrough three was after the patch with deletion of all save files/reinstallation of the game.

Would recommend deleting all saves and reinstalling the game before attempting the achievement.

The only guaranteed way to get the glitchy achievements is to play the entire campaign in one sitting. This is because the trackers for these glitchy achievements are broken. If you go close the game at any point, it will reset the achievement progress. So aslong as the game doesn't crash, you can leave your console on and take your time.

Still glitched as of 7/11/2020. Can't finishis this in one sitting since the game crashes on me every 2hrs, and I have X1X.

EDIT: Just got this. Deleted my saves and DLCs (not sure if that is needed). Game crashed on me after the first 3 districts. I finished the game, started a new one without deleting anything (game would close) and killed the 3 district bosses again. Achievement counter resets when you exit the game, so just keep playing and pray for no freezes.

Just got it, Xbox one series x , in one sitting, all dlcs installed, only froze once while driving, did t delete the previous save and just started new game, used quick resume and turned Xbox off and back on again.. game didn’t crash, did gambling last.. I saved all informants and spread the districts evenly, 2k account linked and played while online.. and didn’t kill the last three underbosses.. this was my 11th play through and after reading previous comments I have it a go in one sitting!! I didn’t wire tap either and died a few times.. hope this helps or maybe I just got lucky..

Damn, was really hoping this wouldn’t be glitched for me but it is. I guess I’ll be doing an all kill run in one sitting. This of coarse is the last game in the trilogy in which I need all of the achievements for. I guess it’s a good thing I enjoy the game. I’m sure after the all kill run in one day and the all recruit run in one day I won’t like it too much.

10.VIII.2021 I unlocked all 3 achievements which were glitched for me "The New Boss", "Family" and "No Loose Ends". I started play Mafia 3 in 2020 on my Xbox One X and these 3 achievements were glitched for me, completed the game 5 times and nothing. Today I decided to give this game a try because I bought Xbox Series X, my first playtrough was to kill all rackets and have max aliance with under my partners, I completed the game without any crash!! But my second play was to recruit all rackets, my game crashed like in 5th district but I decided to still play and it was worth because I got my achievement. I am happy to help if anyone need a help, I can give some tips. Good luck

Bugged for me on Xbox Series X. The game crashed during both my first and second playthrough. I have earned all of the achievements except this one and the one with flipping - The New Boss. I have followed the guide and did everything correctly. I guess crashes still break the achievements. Such a shame.

After playing on the Xbox One X and having this achievement glitch on me I gave up, but I decided to come back to it now that I have a series x. I started off of an old save right before the first racket boss, played through all of the racket bosses crash free, and got it to pop! I died about three times and the game ended up crashing after I got it, but I kept playing through and got my family achievement as well.

The 'one sitting' thing isn't an option for and leaving my console on isn't an option either because I live in South Africa, and we have something called 'Load Shedding' which is a power outage. So is there still a solution to me getting the achievement, as well as 'The New Boss' and 'Family'?

I did a playthrough and killed them all when this achievement was glitched so I didn't get it. I'm going back to the game now and this achievement has been fixed but a new playthrough is required. I started a new playthrough and killed the first boss hoping it might trigger, but it did not. I see some people say it is still glitched for them. I wonder if it is just that they are in the same boat I am, and if I complete this playthrough killing all bosses it will still not pop. There does seem to be some carry over of the bosses because the other solution that says they got it to pop after the first boss of their 2nd playthrough. I think my best option might be to delete my old save file completely and start fresh again. If anyone has any thoughts let me know.

As of 5/25/20 and a 3rd playthrough only killing racket bosses in mafia 3 after following online instructions to delete old saved data and try again.... The achievement "No Loose Ends" failed to unlock as well as "Hole in your Pocket" and "The New Boss". These are the final 3 achievements I need for the game and can not unlock them due to a glitch in the game.

2k said "the developers are aware of this issue but unfortunately we do not have any timeline for when a fix is going to be implemented". Here is an idea for those developers. Put an update in the game for those specific achievements updating the prerequisites.

For "Hole in Your Pocket" the prerequisite is Spend at least $500,000. Update it so you only have to spend 50000$

For "The New Boss" instead of flipping 16 Racket Bosses just make it 1.

For "No Loose Ends" same as the one above instead of killing all of the Racket Bosses just make it so you only have to kill 1.

That way the people just playing the game won't have to worry about the multiple play throughs just to find out it is still glitched. A lot of time goes into achievement hunting and I wish 2k would show at least some sort of update trying to fix these glitched achievements specifically.

Just wanted to add that the next gen may make these achievements, that seem to only work through one sitting, easier to do. With the quick resume feature, you can take a break from this game, and work/relax on others before going back to this. With the increase in performance, crashes should be more unlikely to happen as well. Will come back to this comment once I get the Series X and either 100% this game or not.

Edit: Can confirm the Series X provides stability to the game, preventing any crashes that would previously occur. I did uninstall the three major expansions since I had suspicions the "Faster Baby!" would cause crashing every time I drove by the entrance of the county. Only three scares took place: Two temporary freezes when I was driving and one infinite loading screen (opening the dash and resuming to the game seemed to end the loading screen unless I was a coincidence). I did NOT make use of the quick resume, so I can not confirm whether or not the achievement tracking will glitch if you leave the game in quick resume state. I will make an attempt on the other achievement using quick resume to see if the tracking will glitch.

All in all, it roughly took me 5 hours in one sitting to get this done.

After completing my 3rd play through and still not getting this achievement, I decided to attempt a 4th uninterrupted play through (on my Xbox One X), and apart from a couple of freezes, and no crashes (Amazing!), I finally got this most annoying achievement.
In conclusion, this has confirmed that the counter for this achievement is broken, but there is a solution.
Best of luck to anyone else attempting this. 😁

FYI. I didn't reinstall, I didn't remove any DLC, I didn't delete my previous saves, and I didn't wiretap anything. I just killed everyone lol.

Just to add to the solution above, I just started my second play through and in my first play through I killed them all but the first guy "the butcher". Once I killed him inky second play through I got the achievement... So it looks like it carries over through your playthroughs.

As of March 29, 2017, On the second play through, killing all of them was still bugged and did not get the achievement.

NOTE: I did NOT wiretap the district. I do not know if this is condition. I will admit on the first play through, I wanted to flip all, but did not wiretap all, and was not able to get the achievement. MAYBE??? this is the option to get the achievement to kill or flip????

This guide is for series x/s owners.

I deleted all my saves from everywhere and cleared my reserved space. I had all dlc uninstalled.

I then started a new game and played normally, I did make use of quick resume so if anyone needs to know you can use quick resume and will still count as 1 playthrough. I encountered a bug twice where when you hold X to talk to one the people nothing would happen. Just load last checkpoint and you’ll be good to go.

Achievement popped after killing last racket boss.

Is the game less likely to crash on series X/S?

can confirm just did this method on my 2nd run for the flip all and loyalty achs, as well as my glitched takedown and money achs from my first playthrough. This was a fresh install (disc, if that matters) with no saves as I previously played on xbox one x and deleted everything there, no dlc installed either. Also utilized quick resume as to never have the game close/quit and had 0 crashes (although at 3 separate times the game froze up for a second or 2 but then snapped out of it).

For me on the series S I tend to have 2-3 crashed per playthrough. Series X might be the best option still. For Yuri's comment, you can contact 2k all you want, they still won't do anything. From what I gathered this has been a issue for going on 5 years now

Sad day. I crashed as I was finishing district 5. For the record I used quick resume offline on SX and everything loaded up just fine. I played a few more hours before the crash as I was dropping off Enzo. I’ll try again tonight in one sitting. My cloud save should load me in to just before the first boss so I don’t have to replay the long prologue.

I hate this f**king game. I played 4 days on Xbox Series for 3 hours a day using quick resume from my main account . I had 4 bosses left to flip but the game crashed today. Before that i tried more than 5 times on Xbox One. We need more people to submit complaints to 2K. Otherwise f*cking 2K will never release a f*cking patch that fixes all problems. I have 1930 from 1960. There are 2 achievements left. The new boss and no loose ends. SnippierGecko21's solution for xbox series doesn't work. The game on the Xbox series will crash just like on the Xbox One

The new boss and No loose ends

This trophy is best combined with the Big Earner and Can't Trust a Rat trophies.

To achieve this go after the racket boss after doing enough damage to the racket. When confronting him do not recruit him but kill him with "X".
If you don't wiretap him he will automatically be killed making sure you can't accidentally recruit him.
The trophy will pop after you've killed the last racket boss, near the end of the story.

Having downloaded Mafia 3 from the Playstation store with it being available through PSNow, I can confirm that trophies ‘No Loose Ends’, ‘Baby, You’re a Rich Man’ and ‘The New Boss’ were glitched for me. After 3 playthroughs none of the trophies unlocked although I completed the criteria for all 3.

I decided to delete everything Mafia 3 related from my console (Save files, Mafia 3 game, DLC and Capture Gallery data) and reinstall it without downloading the DLC.
On my next playthrough after reinstalling Mafia 3 from the Playstation store I unlocked ‘The New Boss’ and ‘Baby, You’re A Rich Man’ however the trick is to do both trophies in one session. DO NOT turn your console off as this resets the counters for these trophies and if your game crashes, you have to repeat the above step of deleting everything, reinstalling and starting again.

On your ’The New Boss’ and ‘Baby, You’re A Rich Man’ playthrough, I would suggest using the glitch where you can obtain unlimited money during a mission in the French Ward. The mission is available after speaking with Jim McCormack, after you have spoken with him visit both interrogation missions in the French Ward and then you’ll be able to unlock the money drop mission. Please see video below on how to do the glitch.

On your ‘No Loose Ends’ play through I would suggest not doing any of the wiretapping besides the one that is story related, that way Lincoln automatically kills the racket bosses. It took me 3 playthroughs to get this trophy as my game kept crashing after flipping about 12 or 13 of the racket bosses however on my last playthrough I made sure I done it in a shorter period of time of around 10 hours or so (the playthroughs that crashed on me were overnight playthroughs which meant my console would have been on for over 24 hours).

I’m not sure what caused the game to crash but I remember on one occasion I was travelling at high speed in a De’Leo Traviata. Again, I’m not sure if it makes a difference but on my last play through after killing 12 of the racket bosses I made sure I didn’t go over 100MPH/KPH when driving and I always drove in the Samson Duke. I also did not kill any of the Capos (Olivia Marcano, Tommy Marcano and “Uncle” Lou Marcano”), I only killed the lieutenants which are on the kill list as all rackets are available to take over without killing the Capos.

I hope this helps some of you out and if you need any further info just drop me a message on here or on PS, my PSN is the same as my name on here.

The Glitch Guide!

This guide is for those that have tried to obtain this trophy, but have been unsuccessful due to the, now well established, Mafia glitch - for those of you who think you might have just done something wrong, you probably haven’t - this is a well known glitch (as also referenced in Baldozerr’s comment) and confirmed by the support team at 2K.

I did a lot of research on how to obtain this trophy following my first failed attempt, as it was the last one I needed to get the platinum, and I’ve read a lot of theories as to what causes it to glitch in the first place - many seem to believe it’s when the game crashes (which it did a lot to me during my first attempt). I do not know the exact cause, but I thought I’d share how I obtained this elusive trophy in the hope it’ll help others.

I started by following most of the advice in Baldozerr’s post, i.e. I deleted my copy of the game and all of the DLC - what I didn’t do was delete my save data, as I’d read that some people received the trophy half way through their next playthrough (which suggests the game retains some of the kills). So, I reinstalled the game and started a new playthrough, but with my save data still in the background (I didn’t download the DLC again though). Quite early on, after I had killed the first 2 racket bosses, my game didn’t allow me to proceed with the story, i.e. a scene where I had to hold down the square button disappeared preventing me from progressing. I ultimately had to quit to the main title screen and reload - this worried me, but not as much as a few hours later into the game (after my 5th racket boss) when I died and the game completely crashed (whilst reloading the checkpoint) sending me back to the PS4 home screen with an error message. The reason I persevered without deleting and starting again is because I still had my collectables. To explain my rationale… on my previous playthrough where I didn’t obtain the trophy, I realised that halfway through the game, a number of collectables (i.e. magazines, posters etc.) that I had collected had disappeared - I believe this is when the game reset my counter and thus didn’t give me the trophy after killing the final racket boss. I’m not sure if I’m right, however, I would suggest anyone playing to keep an eye on their collectables, and if you still have them after the game crashes or if you have to restart for some other reason, then everything might just be okay. Of course, I could be wrong and I may have just been lucky, but I’ve obtained the trophy today after killing my 18th (and final) racket boss, and that’s following the issues already described.

If you’re after some tips on the quickest way to obtain this trophy, I would first say that you need at least 8-10 hours free. For me, I avoided all side quests and skipped all cut scenes, I also didn’t wiretap anywhere with the exception of the one time the game makes you. I rushed through killing the first 6 racket bosses to establish all of the underbosses, I then killed the following 6 racket bosses and then realised I had to kill their respective leaders to reveal the final racket boss missions. I didn’t, however, kill any of the leaders in the last portion of my game, only concentrating on killing the final 6 racket bosses. I also didn’t use the money glitch as, to be honest, getting money in this game is easy even when you’re not trying (IMO).

For those who have tried and failed, I wish you luck if you find the strength to try again - I almost gave up and was going to just delete the game, but being so close to the platinum (and feeling robbed) pushed me to attempt it one last time. I would urge anyone with issues to log these with 2k Support - they are a really friendly team, but they do fob you off with the ‘we’re aware of the issue and our developers are looking into this’ - given the glitch has hit so many people and has been around for at least 3 years (following numerous updates) I’m not sure they really are looking into it. That being said, the more people who raise this with them, the more they might be motivated to sort it out.

If you have any other specific questions on how I obtained this, or if something has happened in your game and you’re worried that this might prevent you getting the trophy, then please don’t hesitate to ask me - I’ll help if I can.

Missable! Glitched!

Glitch Warning: Reported glitched as of Patch 1.06. Trophy is achievable on earlier patches. If you have the Retail version, cancel and delete all patches and play on base version v1.00. However, this trophy is not 100% guaranteed to unlock even on v1.00, it is purely down to luck.

You must kill each and every single Racket Boss in the game. There are 9 districts excluding Bayou Fantom and 18 Racket Bosses in total spread across the 9 districts. Attempt this on your "Kill" playthrough.
