Mafia III

In total there are eighteen Racket Bosses in the game. The very first Boss you encounter, Merle Jackson, is scripted to be killed. In addition, Chester Moreau is also scripted to be killed. Other than these two forced deaths, you will always have the choice on whether to kill or recruit Racket Bosses when you confront them.

NOTE: The option to recruit Racket Bosses will only be present if you wiretapped the junction box closest to that Racket.

When working on Racket missions, the final phase of the mission will be to track down and confront the Boss. If you ignored killing that Racket's Enforcers in the earlier stages, they will be present as bodyguards. However, if you killed them, the Boss will only have a few men and sentries as backup. Once you've confronted a Racket Boss, grab him by holding . You will then have the chance to kill them () or recruit them () provided you wiretapped that Racket beforehand.

Given each achievement's requirement, "The New Boss" and "No Loose Ends" cannot be done in the same playthrough. Thus, depending on how you deal with the Racket Boss during the mission entitled "Smack," you will need to remain consistent with that decision during your entire playthrough. So if you recruit him, you'll want to recruit every other Boss moving forward; if you kill him, you'll want to kill every Boss you capture.
