How to unlock the Tactician achievement in Magic Duels - Definitive Guide

After beating Gideons campaign, you will be prompted to make your own deck. After that, you can select Battle Mode and take it for a spin.

Be sure to go through 'Deck Builder' and not 'Deck Wizard', or your achievement will not unlock.

Win one duel in any of these games types and the achievement is yours:

- verses battle
- solo battle
- two-headed giant

To avoid confusion and frustration, you should add that it MUST be a deck that you have custom built through the "Deck Builder" on the right. If you use the "Deck Wizard" to build a deck, the achievement will not unlock. :)

Thanks for the additional input! I wasn't aware of that, since I kinda skipped over the deck wizard part. laugh

If you're not a Magic expert (I'm not even a little bit close), this might help:

It's an old article, 2006, but I used the general guidelines and won my first battle after rejiggering my Green/White deck after losing about five in a row without those guidelines.

Or you could probably take something build using Deck Wizard and manually recreate it with Deck Builder and be fine, too.

You can also convert a deck wizard built deck into a deck builder deck after you've built it.

You have to win a single duel using a deck made in the deck builder, not using the deck wizard.

If you don't know how to build a deck, like I don't, here's the easy way. You can turn any deck that you made using Deck Wizard into a custom deck!

Simply:
Go into your decks and click cn_A to edit the deck you want to use to get the win. Then, click convert and confirm your choice.
Now, you should be editing the deck. Just press cn_B. It should now say 'CUSTOM DECK' underneath the deck's name.


Now, win with this deck and the achievement is yours toast

Before you can access to the Battle section, the game will force you to make at least one Deck (you can do as many Decks as you want). After doing your own Deck, winning any battle besides the campaign ones will unlock this achievement. (Solo, Versus, etc)
