How to unlock the Duelist achievement in Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers - Definitive Guide

This achievement is unlocked by winning 5 ranked online matches. Wins can be in any game type, and do not have to be consecutive.

While it's not necessary, I would recommend taking a look in your deck and seeing if you have any extra cards that aren't really helpful for that game and taking them out. Not all of the cards you win are worth keeping in there.

With the recent patch, even if your opponent quits the match, you still get credit for a win. This makes it a bit easier to get the achievement than it was originally.

Norvy, you are God-like. Care if I edit that into my solution?

Were you playing ranked or unranked games?

I've won 6 ranked and have not unlocked it yet. But I've had two concessions....

I got this after I won 5 ranked matches so looks to me like it does work like it's supposed to. Maybe a concession still counts as a win but not towards the achievement?

They released a patch that made a disconnect/concession a win for the other player.

A quit will count for new cards, but not for this achievement.

I began playing online today. I had four opponents resign and one die to damage. I was awarded the achievement on these five wins, the last of which was an opponent resignation.

Just a heads up, me and MikeCzech1 just boosted this and found out that the concede option does indeed only count for the host. So if I'm hosting and my opponent quits I get the win but if I quit then they don't actually get one even if they get a card. So the rule to getting this achievement legit is to just make sure you host every game you play online.

When people quit on me, I give them a negative player review.

I'd look again friend. I've played over 40 games, and my TrueSkill is over 20, but it took me a while to get the achievement. If the person quits after they have 0 life you get the win. If they quit before damage is tallied you don't.

If you're struggling against the quitters, this is actually quite easy to boost like the player matches if you have a partner.

Open a private chat session with your partner and have one player start to create a ranked game but stop before they press the 'Host Game' button. Have the other player hover on the Ranked Game > Quick Match button.

Time it right so the host presses the 'Host Game' button about 1 second before the other player presses the 'Quick Match' button. If all goes well, you should find yourself in the lobby together. If not, both exit out and start again.

It may take a few tries, depending on how busy the server is.

Fairly straightforward - win 5 matches online and make sure they are RANKED.

This also includes Twin-Headed Giant matches, as victories in that game type go towards both players win totals.

No real tips here. Just play your cards well and try to keep all your bases covered.
