How to unlock the Madness Suppressed achievement in Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers - Definitive Guide

Beat Sarkan the Mad for the second time in the campain (level 8). You can do it in the lower difficulty setting.

He uses a Black/Red deck that is not as good as some of the decks that you have if you own the other expansion packs. See below for an option if you don`t have the other packs.

Fast decks that can kill creatures are the ones that are effective against him. I beat him miserably using the Relics of Doom deck and the Ears of the Elves deck was also effective. Other decks you may try are the Eyes of Shadow (use Terror to kill his Red creatures and Mind Rot to keep his hand empty) and Heat of Battle (just burn everything he summons).

A less effective option is the Thoughts of Wind deck if you manage to have counters for the big creatures he summons.

By the way, this guy can not be decked using mind of void. He's got two cheap cards that reshuffle his entire graveyard back into his deck if they land in it. Cheap as all hell.

Yeah for the longest time I had my game on Arch Mage instead of just Mage. This whole Expansion Pack is a rip off. They just hurried through it and threw some garbage matches up and released it. Nothing fun about it. Really getting sick of piss poor companies doing this in games. They have to get their extra dollar. I would really have just rather paid for the achievements.

I had somewhat more trouble with Ears of the Elves even on Mage difficulty; maybe I got unlucky, or maybe I just suck. :) You do need to kill him fairly fast, so if you get an initial draw that has a bunch of the more expensive booster creatures or a bunch of non-creature spells, you may want to draw again. Unless he's almost dead by the sixth or seventh round when he starts popping out dragons, you're going to have a rough time.

Don't forget to remove the blue-only enchantment from the deck if you have it maxed out, and I would also remove all the life-gaining artifacts. If you're in a grind fight where the few points of health matter, you're probably in trouble anyway.

I'd tried several decks (all my decks are fully unlocked) and failed with each one (though I came veeerrrrry close twice with Eyes of Shadow and once with Wings of Light). I Battered him senseless on my first attempt with Ears of the Elves :-)

Went down both times without much of a fight using Ears of the Elves.

Ears of the Elves FTW. I got it on my first try. I had 15 cards unlocked and Coat of Arms was sideboarded.
