How to unlock the Salt in the Wound achievement in Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers - Definitive Guide

-Set up a custom duel with the basic blue deck (Thoughts of Wind) against Garruk (green)
-check if you are the starting player, if not restart
-when you are starting player keep skipping cards until you have a 'Boomerang' and two land (blue>island)
(restart game if your cards are not lucky and try it again, you need at least 1 land and 1 boomerang)
-play your land
-let the enemy play his land
-play your land
-use Boomerang
Achievement will pop right away!

You can make it faster by going to advanced options and let yourself start with 9 cards. The trick is to let the enemy have just one permanent, his first land. So if you don't start he will have two lands by the time you can play your boormerang and you will be screwed

good luck!

Thumbs up for this solution. It helps to put 23 cards on the sideboard 'cause there are only two Boomerang in the deck.

Boomerang requires 2 islands to cast.
Also, the basic blue deck is Thoughts of Wind.

no thanks, I really enjoyed this game. I love to play with 'Eyes of Shadow' and defeat the enemy with unblockable fear units

It should be noted that you need to stop the timer after playing your second land.

Brilliant!

Re last comment: No you don't. Did this drunk & half understanding the instructions while grooving to the music of the game. Once you lay the 2nd land you can just play the spell as you would any card. Got it first try, second shuffle.

Garruk will sometimes cast Wall of wood on his first turn which is irritating. However you can get around this with an Unsummon as well as the boomerang. After Wall of Wood comes into play, Unsummon it, then on your second turn drop an Island and cast Boomerang on his Forrest. This is what I ended up having to do, because there wasn't a time when I played first with the requisite cards where Garruk didn't cast Wall of Wood. Also as previously mentioned it helps a lot to remove most of your sideboard cards to increase your odds of getting all the cards you need.

To get this alone while playing the game normaly.

-Play the Eons of Evil.
-Remove all the unlock cards leaving only the Artisan of Kozilek(you have to unlock this card).
-Dont' attack use the creatures only to defend
-Try to use abilities that draw cards to bring Artisan of Kozilek earlyier
-When you get Artisan of Kozilek start atacking with it, since it has annihlator 2 for every attack you remove 2 cards from the oponnent, remove lands first an creatures last.
-If the oponnent has 10 or less live points and more that 2 cards wait untili he brings another creature.

Using Mind of Void (Expansion 1) keep in your counterspells thin out your deck to the best of your ability otherwise. Play against Sarkhan the Mad. Not only will this result in some fun gameplay, it's the best way to achieve this achievement without the boomerang trick.

Sarkhan has three Eldrazi in his deck and your milling him will result in a lot of deck shuffling as they come and go. But Sarkhan will filter his own deck to get land on the battlefield and play an Eldrazi. Once he plays either Ulamog or Kozilek, use Persuassion to take control of it and start swinging with Annihilator 4 going the other way. This is tricky, but I found it easier than using Eons of Evil where you only get Annihilator 2, and the AI seems willing to just die rather than chump block enough times for you to destroy all the lands.

Important tips: Use your Counterbores on the removal spells like Terminate or Sever Soul, this removes them from the game and means they won't come back to hit your Persuaded Eldrazi. Dragonmaster Outcast is fine as long as it's not his first play, when I got this achievement that was his last chump blocker and I didn't have to worry because he never got too many extra dragons in play because he was sacrificing lands too fast. Giant Scorpion can also be a problem because it has deathtouch. Use your counterspells wisely and carefully.

You only have two Persuasions so this method requires both luck and skill.

You can also play versus Sarkhan in the last duel of campaign mode with the blue-white deck.

When he plays an artefact creature with annhilation 4 (each time it attacks, opponent must sacrify 4 permanents) control it with persuasion (blue enchant for 5 manas, take the control of target creature).

Sarkhan has two legendary artefact creature (cost approximatively 10 manas) with annhilation. Before it comes try to control the game, take a good card advantage, use counter spell and finally play persuasion.

Then attacks 2 or 3 times and the achievement is done ! It take me two games to win this achievement.

There are 2 ways to unlock this achievement with little difficulty (depending on if you have a friend with this game or not). The quickest of the 2 ways is to play a 2 player match over xbox live with a friend who is using the Eons of Evil deck (a friend can be found HERE). Your friend must have Evolving Wilds in his/her opening hand (mulligan if necessary) and play Evolving Wilds 1st then sacrifices it which should unlock the achievement for you right away. The other way, which in more luck dependent and may take some time, is to play the single-player Campaign starting 1st against Niv-Mizzet using the Thoughts of the Wind deck with an opening hand containing a Boomerang and 2 islands (mulligan until you have at least 1 island and a Boomerang, since you might draw an island on your 2nd turn). Boomerang Niv-Mizzet's 1 land on your 2nd turn and the achievement should unlock.
