How to unlock the He Taketh Away achievement in Major League Baseball 2K11 - Definitive Guide

Got this yesterday with the following difficulty slider settings...

User Settings
Pitcher Composure Influence 0
Pitcher Control 100 (this only matters post-patch, I think)
Outfield Run Speed 100

CPU Settings
AI Batting Contact 100
AI Batting Power 100

Play as the NL All-Stars (Home) against the AL All-Stars (Away) in Coors Field. Change the AL starting lineup as follows:

1. Substitute A. Cabrera for M. Cabrera (batting 2nd).
2. Swap the order of C. Granderson and J. Hamilton (1st and 5th, respectively).
3. Substitute A. Beltre for D. Ortiz (6th).

Though it's not perfect, this lineup has the more powerful hitters at the top of the lineup. As others have said, when the game starts, throw middle-high weak fastballs. Now for the most important part...

I robbed approximately ten home runs before I got the achievement to pop, and when I finally got it, I figured out why it took so long. I even managed one of the "wall climbs" on a scoreboard that Ahbooya61 did to earn this achievement. The rest of my outfielders' animations involved them backing up to the wall, waiting for the ball to drop, and then jumping up WHILE FACING THE INFIELD and reaching over the wall to catch the ball. None of these gave me the achievement. It was only when I got lucky and in the animation, the outfielder jumped onto the wall and leaned over it FACING AWAY FROM THE INFIELD and caught the ball when I got the achievement. I don't know specifically how to trigger this; I think it is mostly luck-based. Maybe the ball is hit just a bit harder than in the other animations. Good luck, everyone. Hope this helps.

I had been trying something relatively close to this method, so I figured I would try yours to see if that broke the streak.. Luckily enough, it did. Took me a matter of ~5 minutes.

Like you said, the achievement may be random, but I also got the achievement on the animation where his back is turned to the infield and makes almost a Ben Revere sort of catch. Anyways, thank you.

Somehow I can't get it to work. Most of the time my opponent just hits doubles and triples (or fly-outs) and if there is a homer finally, it goes deep inside the stands. I use all your settings.

Dude you are the man. Went back to your solution for 2K13 and it worked again. Wish i could up-vote again!

i followed atomic event's guide for the most part. id like to add a piece to it, though. dont edit the speed of your outfielders! if you put their speed at 100, often times youll overrun the spot on the wall for the wall grab and you wont trigger the correct catch. you want to make the catch, while your outfeilder is on the run. if he has time to camp out at the wall for the catch, it wont trigger the right annimation. you have to trigger the over the shoulder (kenny lofton's "the catch" from 8-4-96, is the best example) annimation. to do this, you have to be on the run when you get to the wall. at the wall you then want to press the "x" button. your outfeilder will then take a step off the wall and rob the home run over his shoulder.

Agree wholeheartedly with the above edit to the top method -- it seemed as though I had more opportunities to get this done correctly with 50-speed outfielders than with 100-speed outfielders, as their arrival timing at the wall was MUCH better at the slower speed.

Hey man, been trying to do this recently and my guy just runs into the wall when I am pressing X. Is there a prompt that pops up or is there a certain point where I should be hitting X? I am pressing X right when my OF gets to the warning track

One of the most time consuming and difficult trophies in the entire game. To rob a run takes luck as there are very few opportunities to rob a Homerun. I suggest using the following method as with patch 1.10 the game counts a robbed Homerun as a Homerun and an out causing the trophy to not unlock.

- Go to Game Utility > Delete MLB2K11 patch 1.10

- Start game up normally, do not install patch 1.10 (you will be playing offline)

- Management > Rosters

- Here you will need to edit Andre Either (LA Dodgers), Corey Hart (Milwaukee Brewers), and Ryan Braun (Milwaukee Brewers) to have 100 in all Fielding abilities. Then edit Carl Crawford, Jacoby Ellsbury, and Dustin Pedroia of the Boston Red Sox to have 100 in Homeruns.

- Play Now mode > Away Team: Boston Red Sox/ Home Team: NL All-Stars

- Hit to change the ball park to AAA West and hit to confirm

- Start of game > Pause the game to change the difficulty sliders

- CPU Batting: 100 Contact/80 Homerun Power---USER Fielding: 100 in Outfielder Speed

At every bat you will need to check/adjust your outfield depth by hitting and cycle through till you outfield is playing deep. Throw the CPU high weak fastballs in the strike zone. Then when the opportunity presents itself to rob a home run, you need to hit when it says "Climb Wall" (only time a home run that is able to be robbed). THE TROPHY WILL ONLY UNLOCK IF YOU CLIMBED THE WALL. If you failed to rob a home run after the first three Red Sox batters, then select quit and rematch.
