How to unlock the Learning the Ropes achievement in Major League Baseball 2K11 - Definitive Guide

First off go to difficulty sliders and do custom for the user sats but all the batting ones to 100 for pitching speed, control, and composure to 100 and pitch break to 0 for fielding but both the error frequencys down to 0 and everything else up to 100 then click RB to go to the CPU settings for running put everything to 0 for batting put every thing to zero and thats it just before you start the drills go into options in the main menu and save diffriculty.

Hitting - I used Longoria third baseman for tampa bay but once you get into the drills just go to controller options look at batting options and switch bating to press A for swing by pressing RB underbatting settings this makes it easier

Pitching - I went to the roster and edited Rivera on the yankees so he only had to pitchs the fastball and the 2 seam fast balland make is movement 25 and his control 99 on both pitchs then but his composure to 99 then make sure you save roster and it should pretty easy

Baserunning - Dont need to edit a player just use Brett Gardner left fielder for the yankees very easy

Fielding - You can really use anyone because the diffrculty sliders you edited before should make it very easy but I used Wright the mets third baseman for infield Gardner yankees left fielder for outfield and Joe Mauer who is the twins catcher for the catcher one

I found that changing the pitching so that you could press and hold A much easier also than having to do the whole total control thing. All of these strategies worked like a charm. Thanks!

Just a heads up, I believe Joe Mauer is on DL so you can't choose him right now. I used Buster Posey, catcher for the San Fransisco Giants and it worked fine.

It is entirely possible to do this without modifying difficulty sliders at all as long as you pick the best players for each of the jobs. I did all of these except for composure and stamina in one try without modifying difficulty sliders. Here are my recommendations for each drill, I hope they work as well for you.

Hitting:
Contact and Power: Albert Pujols
Plate Battle: Albert Pujols

Pitching:
Control and Velocity: Tim Lincecum (all of his pitches pretty much go where you expect them to, making it very easy.)
Compsoure and Stamina: Felix Hernandez (this is probably the most difficult drill, just keep trying. Anyone who has a high strikeout rate is a good choice)

Baserunning:
Lead Off & Jump: Carl Crawford
Advancing and Sliding: Carl Crawford (just go on first movement and you will still always be safe, or at least 9 out of 10 times)

Fielding:
Infield: Dustin Pedroia
Outfield: Ichiro
Catcher: Yadier Molina

All of the fielding drills become very easy if you pick these three. Outfield is the only one that is somewhat difficult becasue of the horrible camera angles the game uses.

Good luck! Hope it works for you as well as it did for me.

The drills you do in 'My Player' mode count towards this.

Also the infield drill is probably really easy no matter who you choose, but I used Albert Pujols and it couldn't have been simpler. You barely have to move.
