Save 40 games in a season with one player (play at least 20 games)

How to unlock the Show Stopper achievement in Major League Baseball 2K9 - Definitive Guide

If you sim the season after you play 20 games chances are you wont have 40 saves. The way i got this is to set your innings to 3. Turn your sliders for hitting power and contact all the way up. Jack a homer in the first or second and leave it at that. dont score more than 3 runs. Then call in your closer for the save in the 3rd inning. You do not need to play a 9 inning game. just have the lead after 2 innings .I had to save my first 20 games of the season. Then sim the season leaving 10 games at the end of your season unsimed. Check your stats see how many saves your closer has. If he has 35 saves. Save 6 more games. Making it a total of 41 for some reason the the achievement does not unlock until you have 41 saves. You do not need the 41st save to be in the playoffs unless you want it to be. Hope this solution helps you and makes it easier on you.

Just to add a point to your solution, make sure you play at least the last game of the regular season on one in the postseason or this will not unlock. Also if you are adjusting sliders, becareful that your rotation does not get modified through out the season, sometimes the computer will designate a different closer

Yeah, saving 9 inning games takes a LOT of grinding! Wish I had read this a little earlier than now. . . dang it! About to go back and save my 41st game I guess. Thanks!

One thing that makes this achievement time consuming is that you do have to babysit your team through the season. My closer was pulled 3 times and I had to replace him in the pitching rotation.

To make this slightly more tolerable, play 3 inning games as the AWAY team. If you play as home, there is the advantage of only having to play 2 innings on offense (if you score in those 2 innings). You simply have to be leading by 3 runs or less going into the last inning when you're piching. Make sure to warm up your closer with 2 outs in the previous inning while you're pitching.

As the home team, if the game is tied going into the last inning (or you're behind) a save situation is not possible by the rules of baseball.

If you want to speed through this achievement, just set the game to 3-inning games and play as the away team. Make sure you're up by 1,2, or 3 runs in the bottom of the third inning and bring in your closer to either pitch the entire inning or just to record the last out.

If you want to earn this when playing through full games, you can make sure your team is up by 1-3 runs in the 8th or 9th inning and then have your closer finish out the game.

**Alternatively, if you find yourself blowing out the other teams and you don't want to just let the other team score runs to catch up, you can bring any pitcher in to pitch the 7th, 8th, and 9th inning and no matter the score, they will record a save if they never give up the lead**
