How to unlock the Perfect Timing achievement in Maneater - Definitive Guide
Alright ya'll, this wasn't my best moment, but I discovered a simple shortcut to completing the time trials whilst raging. You don't even need a specific build for this.
Play through the trials to the best of your ability, but don't sweat if you're running out of time. When the retry/leave screen appears upon failure, pop out your battery pack (or batteries), then pop them back in.
You should see a window that asks you to reconnect your controller. Do so, then choose the 'leave' option on the failure screen.
Whatever rings you have left will still appear, but the timer is absolutely gone. Now it's just a matter of getting through the rest and it'll count as a completion when you pass through the final ring.
Long Story Short: Fail the trial at any point, disconnect/reconnect your controller, 'leave' the trial, continue swimming through the remainder of your rings to completion without a timer.

Not sure why the downvotes. Worked perfectly on the ones I did fail on when playing (about half of them).

I dont understand why this is needed. I completed the time trials in full Bone. Achievement hasnt popped yet so maybe Im missing one or it might have glitched on me. It isnt hard at all, just use LT to boost

First thing, thanks to HerrKätzchen for suggesting a build in one of the other guides - but as there is nothing here I thought I would put this up.
I was struggling with these and left them last and then found them crazy easy with this build and technique…
Full Shadow Set - Jaw, Head, body, fins, tail
Organs - amphibious, adrenal gland, brutal muscles
All at level 5 and you are super fast
Then when jumping for high rings or manoeuvring on land alternate button presses between A (jump) and LT (Lunge).
I found this meant I could stay in the air and get higher for the high up hoops and also bounce along land super fast.

This achievement is ridiculous. I'll get it eventually, but the controls for jumping are so bad in this game regardless. I cannot fathom why putting a long jump at the end of most trials would be considered anything other than luck.
With that said, your solution is the best for the job. +1

Yep. Garbage controls for the jumping. Should've kept the trials water-based. Or maybe just one of them with jumps.

This DLC adds a bunch of time trials to the list of open world activities. You will be required to complete around three time trials during the DLC story missions in the new region, but upon returning back to the base game regions, you'll see many more time trials added to your map to complete. Each one involves swimming through a series of rings, getting to each one before time runs out.
There are three main aspects to these time trials:
The second method is to jump from the surface of the water instead of starting underwater. The inputs are almost identical minus the first to dash. From the surface, press to jump off the water, again to double jump, and then lunge. I found this to be a more reliable method since you can judge the distance to the ring and bridge easier. I was able to get the height using this method on every single time trial, so I can assure it is possible.
Use whichever method you're better at though, and don't hesitate to practice a bit until you get it down, since you'll need to do it at the end of just about every time trial.
There are three main aspects to these time trials:
- Moving fast enough to actually reach each ring before time runs out. I found this to be a non issue. You can apparently equip the entire Shadow armor set to boost your speed, but I did every single one with my regular gear (Shadow Teeth and Bone everything else) thanks to the fully upgraded Brutal Muscles. This gives a 30% boost to swim speed and it made reaching each ring trivial. Just press and hold until your sprint ends, then release and press and hold it again.
- Moving from ring to ring on land. This is necessary in a handful of time trials. I never had any issues with having enough breath (again, with my normal gear above, plus being Mega evolution so having maximum lung capacity). I'm sure you're used to it by this point, but the fastest way to move forward on land is to just mash to keep lunging forward.
- Jumping up through high rings, especially ones on a bridge. This is really the only difficult part of time trials, in my opinion, since almost every single one ends with a ring high up on a bridge, and many have other high rings through in before the end. This is the only place where some skill is required.
- The first is the one the game essentially wants you to do, which is breach out of the water from below the surface.
- The second is jumping up while "knifing" on the surface.

Apart from a few plot ones, we leave all other tasks for the time being until the end. We dress pumped up to the maximum level:
- Shadow Tail
- Shadow body
- Organ rough muscles
With this type of set, all tasks are timed and completed almost with your eyes closed, with a huge amount of time to spare.
