How to unlock the Mercenary Captain achievement in Manor Lords - Definitive Guide

This is fairly easy
Select "Restoring the Peace" and choose "Relaxing" difficulty.

I recommend specializing villages in a "bread basket-esque" approach, with an emphasis on creating as much food as possible. This will be beneficial to speed along the process of gaining influence via high tithes. When starting a new game focus on searching for regions with green fertility and a rich food source (preferably berries).

Useful development points for this playthrough include:

  • Beekeeping
  • Forest Management
  • Trapping
  • Orchardry
  • Heavy Plow (highly recommended)
  • Bakeries
As soon as possible start trading away the spears and shields your village starts with. You can then use this money as taxable income once a Manor is constructed which will then be transported to your treasury and usable to hire mercenaries.

Hire the cheapest mercenaries possible, even archers will do and start attacking bandit camps. Once defeated claim the loot for yourself as this will send silver to your treasury.

Start upgrading burgage plots to level two and three while keeping up with basic requirements (large populations are not always needed as they will eat away at food supplies faster and diminish tithe influence returns).

Should the Baron start to claim a region, load a previous save and make a mental note at the time he attempted (it will always be the same). Hire all possible mercenaries and defeat him, this will give you the zone.

* If you win a battle and then accept his offer of peace you will still have the region and he will pay you. To do this respond to the letter he sends and select the option to relinquish claims for a price.

* I believe if you reload it can also change available mercenary composition - (i.e. if you don't want a certain troop type).

After claiming a few new regions, and creating villages focused on food production with high tithes you will be making influence fast. This will hasten the process of making claims.

When the Baron only has one zone left I recommend hiring all possible mercenaries (make sure they are non-ranged types as archers are pitiful. Send them to the battlefield before hand and find a hill. Set your troops to shield wall and push forward. Start the claim. This will prompt the final battle where the Baron will send a significate amount of troops, however with a hill advantage and troops in shield wall it will be enough to make the enemies route.

After attaining victory, chose to end the game and unlock the achievement! headspin

-Well, i can only recruit 4 groups of mercenaries.
-Played in easiest difficult.
-It seems you can't use retinue group for any battle maybe it's a bug.

Well with the final zone , i hide one group of bandits in forest, i sent the rest army to fight and they lose so fast, but the fight wasn't started, so i can wait until i can hire the same 3 groups of mercenaries.
At this moment something happen that every enemy unit was around my last group of bandits, but they never attacked.
With the rest of mercenaries, i sent them into the zone to capture it, the days were passing, when i had 20 days left, another group of 12 appears, but most of them diverted to where my group of bandits was.
Only one retinue ingored the bandits and they came into zone beginning the battle, i defeat only that group of 36 retinue army and the cinematic of end game appears. Getting the achievement.

Maybe if you can able to use retinue's groups this achievements won't need this kind of trick.
