How to unlock the Earlier Dates achievement in Maquette - Definitive Guide

In order to get this Achievement, you need to skip all cutscenes by holding down cn_B.

The Timer starts as soon as the level begins, you have to skip all cutscenes because the timer still runs during them.

You can play through the level little by little and make manual saves as you progress and reload them if you weren't quick enough in a section.

Here's my quick 35-minute Achievement Walkthrough with Commentary.

I show The Maquette level starting at 4:05 minutes into the video.

I simply can’t get this to pop. I have tried progressive saves and skipping cut scenes and think I have it down to 3 min, but no achievement pops. Any way of tracking the in-game time?

I timed myself from the first loading screen to holding and skipping B from the last cutscene. 4:17 is what I got and it popped, there’s really no room for error.
Pausing the game does not stop the timer either so this is the start of some brutal memory training you’ll have to do for the rest of the game

Cheetah's got a much easier and quicker guide for this here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHQ7KIEl0Yg

Personally I struggled with the gap jump in the video so I grabbed the bridge from the second area, got the achievement first try using it

FYI, this achievement is buggy; it may pop on the Xbox servers, but not on your end so I recommend saving this one for last and ensuring on multiple devices (PC, phone, etc) that you didn't already unlock it. From my experience I played through the level, didn't get it to pop, and thought I was below 4:10. So, I tried and tried again 7 times and nothing, so I completed the game and attempted to reinstall my game to no luck. However, I closed the game and checked the achievements on my PC thinking I could try playing on the PC version and sure enough I apparently got it on my first try. TLDR, you probably got it on your first try if you didn't mess it up too bad, game is just funny.

With that disclaimer, let's get into the guide. Feel free to pause between each bullet I go through as it should pause the in-game timer:

- First you will start facing a Disney tower, walk to the entrance and a cutscene will play, which you can skip with cn_B

- After, turn around and head for the dissolving wall that houses a miniature version of the map you are in. Look to the right side from where you came and remove the red cube blocking your next path with cn_X; I recommend holding on to the cube upon picking it up for speed

- Next move to the right and head to the newly opened entryway. Once you fall, make a 180 and drop the cube if you are still carrying it by double tapping cn_B. You will land and head forward into an elevator where you will pick up a small bridge, which powers on a lever to the right. Press the lever to return up and head for the map

- You should be looking at a small version of where you came as you approach the map, so place the bridge with the corresponding controls on screen to setup the bridge for you to cross in the "to scale world." (cn_B to start placing item, cn_LBcn_RB to rotate held item, cn_LTcn_RT to zoom in and out, and cn_B to drop fully) (use the glowing shadow of your held item to place correctly)

Dropping the bridge should unlock:

MaquetteSize ManipulatorThe Size Manipulator achievement in Maquette worth 85 pointsChanged the size of an object to solve a puzzle.

and
MaquettePrecise PlacementThe Precise Placement achievement in Maquette worth 11 pointsRotated an item for a better fit.

- Return to the prior area, cross the bridge, flip a switch in an elevator and skip a cutscene to reach the top. Pick up a golden ticket and ride another elevator back to the start. Once there, drop the ticket to the right before entering the map room

- Now return to the map and pickup the shrunken ticket to insert into the blue building right of the area where we placed the bridge (double cn_B to insert ticket into the bin). This will open a gate and start a cutscene which you can skip. Immediately after skipping, moonwalk back to the map and flip a small switch on the back end of the blue circus with cn_X

- With that, navigate to the back right of the circus (using the small map as a guide to where you flipped the switch) and move the left of the hidden passage to get a skippable cutscene. This will spawn a key to pickup and take to the hub. Once back, move to the right door insert the key into the door (might need to stand a bit back from the door). Once open, grab the key and move to the map to make a bridge between the newly open door's path and the other edge of the room you just opened; trickier than the prior bridge, but needed for speed

- Once placed, cross the key and enter a room with a skippable cutscene. Once done, backtrack to the hub (may get a cutscene which randomly freezes your controls for longer than inspected) and move the key bridge to the hub for you to pickup and use as a smaller key. With the smaller key picked up, return to the map for the final purple house and use the key on the small red door (may have issues with the key getting stuck on random stuff)

- Finally, regrab the key out of the door and place back in the miniature hub. Doing so will regrow the key, which you can again use as a bridge to cross to the red door you just opened. Once done, cross the bridge and enter the door to skip a cutscene once entered.

And with that you should finish (after a couple tries) under 4:10, if not less. This is probably the most annoying set of puzzles depending on your skill with placing the three bridges throughout, but it shouldn't be too bad if you don't get screwed by any bugginess as previously mentioned. I would again recommend saving this for last in case you get bugged and have to delete your whole save to attempt again, bug-free; GL.

@ChooseMyFate - I don't want to plagiarize and more exposure to the wonderful guide I used to complete the game would help whoever is getting started with the game.

Make sure you ALWAYS manually save when start a level and utilize all 3 slots. Autosave overwrites itself on the beginning of next level so if you don't pop the speedrun trophy, load your previous manual save. You can hold the circle to skip cutscenes, jumping doesn't increase your speed, some animations are not skippable (for example: door animation). Majority of levels are fairly easy when you learn the best path.

'The Maquette' is your first real introduction to the game's mechanics and you'll need to be pretty precise in order to beat the level in time. Luckily, there are only a few short puzzles in this level so make sure to skip any cutscenes by holding button-b.png and try to take your time when placing the key bridges to avoid dropping them and having to start over.
