How to unlock the True Ninja achievement in Mark of the Ninja - Definitive Guide

NG+ seems daunting after you just went through it once on normal, especially those tracker ladies?/guy? near the end, but it really isn't.

I think I got 3stars and I also mopped up the get the scrolls and stuff achievements during my NG+. I just want to share a few of the tips which I found immensely helpful to completing it successfully.

1) Always use the 2nd costume. (You unlock it near the end of the first playthrough) The ability to just ninja vanish to most locations you want is amazing and will help you avoid almost everything.
2) Use Terror Darts for the one or 2 times you might need it per level. With the first tip you likely wont "need" to use em, but its fun to rack up some kills by throwing those.
3) Patience!!! can't tell you how many times I forgot and rushed in, only to get owned. You die really easily in NG+

You can just adapt the game play to your style and go with it.

Please let me know if this solution was helpful or not. (I am not accustomed to writing solutions, usually just following them.)

Not sure if I agree with your first tip, honestly, but that really comes down to playstyle. I think either the Path of Nightmares or the Path of Silence were the best and most useful costumes, depending on how I approached a level. This may also have to do with the fact that I was also picking up any seals/scrolls/stars I missed on my NG+ playthrough, however. Much easier to get points with either of those two outfits.

I think tip 3 should be tip 1 if we do the list in order of priority.

But I honestly dont know how it is now, but when I first did NG+ and stuff, I wasn't over 100 on many of the levels and I easily 9starred all the levels (cuz I also went after all the seals/scroll that I missed during the normal mode) But as you say, it really is very playstyle dependent, the reason I used the 2nd costume was because I could simply teleport behind people who were just standing around to get the undetected bonus more easily or even people walking. I got pretty damn good at that part and it really helped me get the scores easily.

Hah, I felt the whole 'Guards who find bodies become terrorized' feature with the Path of Nightmares was almost overpowered it was so good. I only used it on certain levels in my NG+ runthrough, and it led to some hilarious moments. Know the part in the catacombs when you have to wait for the gate to open while tons of guards come in? I just killed a few guards, hid, and let them kill each other. Once it died down, I went in and took out whoever was left and hid all the bodies to get 3 stars.

But yeah, the teleportation one wasn't half bad either.

Im glad you didn't take my first response in a bad way :) I wasn't sure because you know interwebs and all.

That was a funny room for me too, thats actually one of the reasons I recommended terror darts because I would hit a guy walking away with 2-3 other people near him and that was like an instant 600 for every guard he shot + the standard 250 for hiding them at the end. But I can totally see where you are coming from, undetected+terrorize+kill generally was my strategy for everyone if possible. I also did alot of the environmental stuff if at all possible cuz that also gives you a better score when you kill them.

Dont even get me started about how terrorizing people forces them to walk out their usual path to vents and stuff so you can then stealth kill from floor vents for the extra 200 per kill over the standard 400.

Its been a long while since I played the game but in NG+ your tools dont refresh do they? I guess its time to dust off my copy as it were and check that out. I guess I am the only one who really enjoyed the poofing from 1 place to the next. I thought it was awesome that you could transport yourself right behind a guy and then jack him up without him realizing what was going on.

I'm currently playing through the game on NG+ and the Path of Serenity outfit and the terror darts were actually my setup of choice, so it was pretty cool that I wasn't the only one thinking that way. A close second for me would be Phil the Bear's suggestion (Path of the Hunter with Darts & Bugs).

I managed to get all 9 stars on each level during my normal playthrough, so I find the poofing from one place to another to come in handy for completing levels undetected and without any kills for the scoring boost at the end. And in the event I want to kill everyone, the terror darts come in handy... especially for stunning those pesky ninja girls at the end.

Having all the collectibles is necessary honestly. Like I said in the solution, you can do the cleanup in NG+. You really just have to figure out your own playstyle and the most important thing is to relax before you make an impulsive move. Most mistakes happen when you get antsy and then you have to redo it from the last checkpoint.

I'm curious how the scrolls and the seals achievements play out. Can you collect some scrolls/seals in your first playthrough and get just the ones you missed in NG+ to get the achievement?

I'm finding the Serenity skill to be nearly indispensible in NG+. I have all the scrolls, seals, stars, etc., so I'm only interested in getting to the end of the level quickly. Serenity allows me to teleport around some fairly tough spots, it's nearly game-breaking. I can see how a different skill set would be more applicable if you needed to explore more or gather points, but if you're just blazing through for that one last achievement, it's hard to imagine anything else being as useful as Serenity.

Even though the scrolls and stuff are there for u to pick up some extra pts, u can pick up just the ones u need for the achievement.

I'm with PuckJunkie, already have all other stuff, so just need to blow through NG+, with Serenity I'm getting through most levels in minutes.

You have to do the epilogue, just like the "complete the game" achievement in your first playthrough.

I did the same thing in the countdown part of the catacombs. Tossed those awesome bug things on a dog and all but one guy was left standing. I got such a massive combo from all those guys just shooting eachother to death.

I would definitely say that the outfit that allows you 2 attack items and does not require you to press X and a direction when you stealth kill is the best- Path of the Hunter?

Select Ravenous bugs and Poisoned darts and you are pretty unstoppable. Terrorising guards into killing their colleagues is the best way in my opinion.

Also, levels where you can change your kit also allow you to refill. The last level is a great example. Next to your sword is a refill point. Use your 2 darts and 2 bugs to decimate an area, go back, refill and repeat.

New game plus can be selected after completing the campaign. Aside from having different scoring than the normal game, everything else carries over (you can also go back to finish stuff in normal mode). Do note that NG+ is more difficult than normal, with more aggressive enemies that have an easier time spotting and hearing you.
