How to unlock the Broke, Blind and Bedlam achievement in Mass Effect 2 - Definitive Guide

A very straight forward mission that can be completed in about an hour.

Kasumi's mission starts in the Citadel.
Talk to her, accept her in your crew and once you've reached the right planet, you'll be at a party. Yay.

Time to find some DNA, a voice sample and the password to use it.
Kasumi is basically telling you what to do every minute, so you won't get lost.

Once you have everything, go back to the vault entrance.
After the cutscene, take some time to look around because some of the art pieces are very funny ^^
Don't forget to pick up the new SMG and then grab the device you were looking for.

Now it's time for the shooting part, make your way through the basements and once outside, it's boss time !

Lower the ship's shield, and he'll go away letting you deal with some goons.
Repeat several times and Kasumi will finally disable the shield for good.
Destroy the ship, go to your shuttle, watch the final cutscene... Achievement unlocked :-)

Where do I trigger it at all..? I spoke to all crew members, and now running around the citadel trying to bump into her..

Yeah, the message from the illusive man didn't appear right away for me too.
I did the last Hammerhead mission I was missing and when I went back on the Normandy Kelly told me about new mails.

Looks like you have to quit/re-enter the ship for the DLC to trigger.
(or quit to the dashboard, obviously ^^)

I'd switched between careers and been to the main menu. The Hammerhead mission update appeared each time (with no achievements, I left them for another playthrough or Kasumi's mission).. After quitting to the dash, I resumed my play from the Zakera Ward, went to the dock and there it was.. I got the Illusive Man's message after finishing the mission..
Also, I never or don't remember picking up the new SMG, (I did pick up a tech upgrade) and got it on the mission complete screen :)

It make sense that you get it anyway, but if you grab it during the mission you can use it right away.

She started talking to me through one of the advertising screens right at the entrance to the citadel. It popped up straight away after completing Garrus' loyalty mission

I find that if you don't mess with the ship, just don't get shot by it, and concentrate on the bad guys the whole thing goes a lot smoother. Leaving Kasumi to fight the bad guys alone while I attacked the ship soon had me out of Medigel and 6 guys coming after me once she was dead again.

Since I am in the middle of my second playthough on Insanity, I completed it this morning at 2 AM. The ending battle glitched for me twice when Hock is suppose to disappear to get his shields repaired. He just never came back. I ran around trying to trigger something, but nothing happened. Frustrating, because it gets quite hairy trying to hold back the goons, while chipping away at his shields. Finally, allowing all the platforms to rise with goons allowed me to finally get to the Kasumi cutscene (where she disables the shields).

Overall, good story and plenty of action.

Yeah, I started a new character with this on insanity, I'd suggest doing this later in the game if you're doing insanity after you've leveled up some because I eventually gave up on trying to do it, because her over load powers weren't very strong and that cloak attack was like hitting the enemies with a pencil.

The first time I tried this, the final battle was glitched. Despite killing all the enemy waves, Kasumi refused to disable the shields. Restarting from the most recent checkpoint worked fine.

'Repeat several times' turned out to be twice. Is this normal, if so it's a little misleading or was i lucky?

thumbs up anyway

A hint for anyone doing this on Insane, make sure you have control AI ability because when you fight the boss, if you take control of one of mec's (robot) and keep taking control then no extra waves will spawn.

This means all you need to do while shooting the shield is to every 30secs or so use your AI hack ability.

You will need to kill your robot in order to get the ship to come back after you lower its shields

This is very difficult to miss as this is part of the main quest of the DLC.

Talk to Kasumi in the Citadel, allow her to join your crew, and head to the planet specified.

Kasumi guides to collect DNA and voice samples, and a password.

Enter the vault and collect the device Kasumi is hunting for.

Make your way through the corridors and outside. Defeat the boss by lowering the ship's shield. Once the shield is down, the boss will spawn hooligans. Defeat his lackies, wash-and-rinse repeat a few times and Kasumi will finally disable the shield permanently. Finish off the ship, head to your shuttle and the achievement will unlock.

Similar to Zaeed, Kasumi's loyalty mission will become available after you meet her on the Citadel. The mission is very straightforward with no life or death decision to be made on the way, and can be completed on any difficulty. Just follow the directions given and once you defeat the mission boss the achievement will unlock.

Story related. If you want more info, continue reading. Otherwise, know that this will unlock through the natural progression of the story. You can do this mission at any time after Freedom's Progress and before you travel through the Omega-4 relay.

After completing Freedom's Hope, the Illusive Man will give you dossiers for the first four crew members to recruit. You will have to travel to the Citadel in the Serpent Nebula to get in contact with her. As soon as you arrive on the Citadel, there will be an advertisement to the right. Speak to it and you will recruit Kasumi. If you want to go straight to the mission, return to the Normandy.

There will be three tasks to accomplish to get into the vault.

1. Obtain Hock's DNA - Find the datapad on the patio outside. Talk to the security guard outside of Hock’s bedroom and tell him Chief Roe sent you. Search the bedroom for his DNA. You’ll need a combination of samples from the ashtray, wine glass, datapad, and antique weapons.

2. Obtain a sample of Hock's voice - Talk to Hock for as long as possible. If you have a high enough paragon, just selecting the blue option, top left, will be sufficient. He’s directly across from the entrance. To find the password, there will be a security door to the left the entrance. Read the datapad on the desk.

3. Cut the power to the vault door - Examine the power cable near the vault door. Kasumi will light up a path to the power source. Follow it and pull the statue.

Hock’s gunship is your final battle. He will fly around the platform where you are and have waves of guards attacking you. Take down the shields once and it’ll recharge. Kasumi will tell you to keep killing the guards and she’ll take down the shields. Once she does, finish off Hock’s armor. Stay in cover and pay attention to where the guards and Hock are. They’ll come from multiple angles at once.

Complete the episode "Kasumi's Lost Memory" and she will become loyal to you and you will receive a trophy. Nothing complicated.
