How to unlock the Digital Exorcist achievement in Mass Effect 2 - Definitive Guide

This is pretty straight forward... you'll get this at the end of the DLC. Yes you guessed right: after defeating the "final boss".

I don't want to spoil too much, but hints that might help you against the boss (i did it with my infiltrator on insane):

1) you need to focus on those orbs that keep moving to the columns. Doesn't matter what else is going on, first stop those orbs.
ARC PROJECTOR is your friend (so equip it when entering the Atlas Station) as it will hit several orbs at same time and with two shots you can kill 2 or more orbs, if you hit them when they are still close to the core.
2) after destroying those orbs, the VI core will be exposed for a short period for you to shoot it. after certain amount of damage the fight goes back to point 1)
3) you'll get geth spawns from time to time. finish them quickly to continue focusing on the orbs.

and that's about it. it's not a hard fight. as i mentioned, i used a lvl30 infiltrator mainly using the arc projector and that SMG i got from kazumis DLC. my special skill is reave but i didn't even have to use it.

EDIT: i'd appretiate feedback from everyone, specially negative voters to know what's wrong with the solution.

Might have just been me, but I'd been lugging the caine around with me the entire time... the boss fight began, I fired the caine, I fired one shot from my Widow, the fight was over.

Normal difficulty with a level 30 infiltrator as well. No other real chances to use the big gun in the whole DLC.

Note that the orbs only have a Shield (blue) to protect them. Use weapons (SMG) and powers that harm Shields (Overload, Energy Drain) to finish them quickly. The exposed core is protected by Armour (yellow), so use weapons (Pistol, Assault Rifle) and powers (Incinerate, Incendiary Grenade) that harm Armour.

the widow is a sniper rifle, not an assault rifle.
while i agree it's awesome against armor, the reload time and switching weapon back to SMG (or whatever you chose against the orbs shields) make the widow a quite bad choise in this fight in my opinion.

For the orbs you really do need to stick with the arc projector. 2 well aimed shots will take all of them out before the geth can overtake you on Insanity. Excellent solution.

Yea I found the arc projector very useful here.

I personally suggest sticking to something that focus on shield. Arc projector and SMG for example. I don't know about easy difficulty, but in insane you need to be really fast on the orbs and have to pay attention to spawning geth to kill them quickly... and switching weapons only makes it more complicated.

The boss isn't THAT hard as I mentioned, so even hitting his armor with a SMG will do quite well.
At least in insane. I guess it can vary from difficulty to difficulty and probably also depends on what class you play.

This achievement cannot be missed and will pop after you have defeated the final boss. In this case that is the VI.

It is a two step process to defeat the VI.

1. Shoot the orbs around the VI
2. Once orbs are destroyed, core will be briefly vulnerable, shoot at it

Spawns will occur and you need to clean them up quickly. This is a fairly easy fight.

This achievement can be completed on any difficulty, but be wary of switching the difficulty if you are going for the Insanity achievement. The rogue VI can be found at the end of Atlas Station and you will be fighting it alone so be sure you equip weapons with a lot of ammo and can take out several enemies at one time.

Keep in mind the Geth that spawn during the final battle will disappear each time all the green orbs are destroyed so focus on the destroying the green orbs and keep your distance from the Geth whenever possible.

Once you defeat the rogue VI choose whatever dialog you wish and the achievement should pop up at the Mission Overview.

Story related. If you want more info, continue reading. Otherwise, know that this will unlock through the natural progression of the story. You can do this mission at any time after Freedom's Progress. Because the game is open ended, you can complete the mission after completing the game.

The first part of the mission involves destroying the satellite to prevent the VI from been transmitted off the planet. After fighting through some geth, you’ll get to the dish. Climb to the top and then destroy all of the support struts to takedown the dish. Once you’re ready for the next phase, go to the Hammerhead.

In the Hammerhead, there are two stations that you’ll have to take out, Vulcan and Prometheus. Be cautious of the turrets in the area. They’re tough and can do a fair amount of damage if not destroyed quickly. This is the point in the mission that you’ll find the six data packets. Follow the arrows to both of the stations. The number in the lower right will tell you how close you are to each one.

Head to Prometheus Station. There are four shield generators in this area. You’ll have to take down all four while a massive geth cannon is targeting you. Fortunately, it’s easy to avoid once you know what to look for. Stay near each of the shield generators until you get a warning about a geth cannon targeting you. Get outside of the red circle on the ground. This will destroy the shield surrounding the generator, then destroy the generator. Repeat for each other generator. With the shields down, destroy the cannon, exit the Hammerhead, and enter the station. Prometheus, Vulcan, and Atlas Stations are all fairly straightforward.

When you finally reach the core, there are green orbs that are uplink connections. Destroy those and then use what you have to destroy the VI core. Once the core’s armor is depleted, then you get to decide how the DLC ends.

On the "madness" difficulty, the expansion boss is quite easy to beat. The main thing is that when blue round shields appear, do not pay attention to the appearing geth, but turn on the “adrenaline” and take aim (preferably with one shot), take out these same shields and immediately run to the next one. The key to success here is accuracy and speed. IMHO, the most effective weapon here is the geth shotgun.

A small correction to what Max_Wildcard wrote. The most effective weapon against the sphere is a flamethrower.
