How to unlock the Explorer achievement in Mass Effect 2 - Definitive Guide

The easiest way to get this achievement is to go to the Far Rim cluster (which isn't unlocked until later in the game), there are only a total of four planets to probe.

Start with the Ma-At section of the cluster and you only need to probe the one and only planet there.

Then, after that, probe the other 2 planets to get items (you need to actually scan the planets to get some resources). You'll have 100% before no time.

I don't see this on my Galaxy Map - does it open up later in the game? Where is it?

If you choose to do Zaeed's loyalty mission, getting this achievement is a breeze. His mission will mass relay you into the Ismar Frontier via Aquilla. Zip around the planets and get fuel, if needed. From there you travel to the Faia system to find Zorya, Zaeed's destination. Simply cruise to the other three planets in the system and the achievement chimes in.

All i did was go to the Shadow Sea Cluster and went to every planet. You dont need to actually probe the planet, all you have to do is just visit for a quick second.

You should include which cluster you need to go to to arrive there.

This sounds complicated and drawn out but it shouldn’t take too long. You can do this at any point when you have control of the Normandy. Enter any of the system clusters using the Relay station, once you enter a cluster you can go to the edge of your current cluster and explore the rest of the system. You will notice a percentage next to the names of each cluster. Make sure you have enough fuel and make your way to each cluster.

Once you enter an unexplored cluster fly around the planets and enter their orbit by pressing . Back out and repeat this for each planet within each cluster. Once you have visited all the planets within a single system the achievement will unlock.

The clusters are what you travel to on the galactic map. Next to each cluster name is a percentage. That percentage is the number of planets that you've explored. Each cluster is made up of multiple systems. You have to visit every planet in each system. Once you have control of the Normandy, guide it towards each planet in the system and push and then to leave orbit. Leave the planet and head to the next one. As long as the planet has a name, it'll be registered as explored. Travel to the edge of the system with the Mass Relay to explore the other systems in the cluster. Make sure that you stop off at the Fuel Depot before leaving the system. Repeat the process that system and any other system in the cluster.

The description is a bit misleading. You need to explore every planet of each star system in a Mass Relay area, for example the various star systems near Omega. You need to activate the scanner on each planet.

As you progress through the story, I advise you to explore all the clusters, since the resources will be very useful to you, and additional quests to gain experience are never superfluous. Enter one of the systems, fly up to the planets (you don’t have to study them, just open its information and that’s it) until the counter in the upper left corner shows 100% in this part. Then go beyond your part and study the rest of the galaxies in the center of the cluster until the total counter for the star system shows 100%.

After completing the mission on Horizon, before using the Repeater and flying away, explore (just fly up to it and press ) three remaining planets. The trophy is yours.
