How to unlock the Heart of Darkness achievement in Mass Effect 2 - Definitive Guide

This achievement actually unlocks before you fight the boss, so it's really unlocked for going through the Shadow Broker's ship. Use the electrically pylons to your advantage when outside the ship, so you can stun your enimies, then finish them off. Using biotics outside the ship when the enemie's shield are down can knock them right off the ship, funny AND painful. Take cover in the ship, and use the narrow hallways to your advantage, inside is more of a close quater battle. When you find the drell you're almost there.

also, for another heads up, i'd recommend using slam, more specifically: Heavy Slam. it is rediculously overpowered, especially when the environment is moving (e.g. shadow brokers ship or on an astorid moving thousands of miles an hour)
this is funny, as even if facing something extreme, like a heavy mech, just take out the defences, then use heavy slam, this'll live it up and the enemy will fly away and leave the battleground (so it dies basically)
use Heavy Slam for over-powered, funny biotic kills

This achievement is story related, so you can't miss it. After going through the Shadow Broker's stronghold, you'll come face to face with the Shadow Broker himself. The achievement will unlock once you enter the room where the Shadow Broker is located.

Story related. If you want more info, continue reading. Otherwise, know that this will unlock through the natural progression of the story. Because the game is open ended, you can complete the mission after completing the game. If you're concerned about beating this mission on Insanity, then save it until after completing the game and lower the difficulty.

Once Illium unlocks (after completing the mission on Horizon), travel there and see Liara T’Soni. Tell her that you have information about the Shadow Broker and she’ll ask you to meet her later at her apartment. Travel there and you’ll find the apartment is now a crime scene. Go upstairs and examine the picture next to her bed. Go back downstairs and right next to the bottom of the stairs will be a prothean relic. Examine that as well. The message you find will talk about a meeting she was going to have. When you arrive at the meeting place, it's straightforward until you face the assassin.

The assassin is tough, but her movement patterns are predictable (right in front of you across a pool, to the right on the same side, to the left on the same side, straight across the pool from her last position and to your left, back to the start, etc.). It doesn’t help that you’ll have to get through her barrier and armor to really do damage. She will zip around the map in a predictable pattern. Once you learn it, you’ll know exactly where she goes. When she says that she’ll be right back, watch out for rocket drones and Shadow Broker troops. When those are gone, she’ll reappear and go back to her predictable pattern. The second time she goes away, the pattern changes a bit. She’ll start off on the same side as you, but to your right, back to the middle across the pool, to the left on the same side, then to the right on that side, and then back across to where she started. Once you defeat her, then you’ll find out where the Shadow Broker is and continue with the second part of the mission.

The Shadow Broker's ship is straightforward. Make your way along the outside, taking out the guards that appear.
Once you’re inside, you’ll have to make your way through the halls to central control. On your way, you’ll first stop and find Liara’s old partner imprisoned. After speaking with him, make your to the Shadow Broker. When you reach the Shadow Broker is when this trophy will unlock. This fight isn’t too difficult, you’ll just have to do the same thing multiple times. Take down his shield and armor. Liara will tell you to melee (6-sflbiuZcMlzkEPCXXEuuJo41fUxX0ZQqpOQiWl7A-w-3kz37rWuXCt9cPDT00vEIRzhrIzrDbl0sTm6nuC7iq_JNviMBPkhojnB3u0vdtBTGGxN0mFJ0B-UKTKojZwHm8wQCZ0 ) him. He’ll pull out a new shield and you’ll have to take down his shield and armor again, followed by a melee. After those two, Liara will have an idea of what to do. Take down his shields and armor and melee him for a third time. Liara will deal the finishing blow.

To get the trophy you need to go to the ship of the Shadow Broker, meet him and engage in battle. The Shadow Broker is a fairly strong opponent who has a full scale of shields, armor and life. Kills in 3 passes. Hide behind the covers, there will always be ammo lying around them, in case you run out of ammo. Turn on "Incendiary cartridges" because... most often you will try to break through his armor.

After you break through his shields and armor for the first time, a cutscene will start, at the end of which the Broker will have a kinetic shield and his shields and armor will be restored again. Try to shoot either at the legs or to the side, because with his shield in his hand he will block all shots. After you remove his armor and shields for the second time, run up to him and press the punch button. After this, he will restore his armor and shields again. Repeat the steps described above, run up to him, press the hit key. After a beautiful cut-scene - rejoice at the trophy!

To start this quest you need to fly to Illium, visit Liara and complete at least one of her quests.

In the first, Shepard must hack several terminals in a parking lot - and after each hack, he only has a minute to get to another terminal and download the data. The location of the data is unknown - we only have an indicator showing the number of meters to the terminal - using it we must find the target.

  • The first target is the screen to the right of the entrance, next to two talking Asari. Having hacked it, quickly download the data from the terminal opposite, under a large tree in a tub.
  • The second target is the news terminal to the left of the entrance. After hacking it, run to another terminal past the weapons and souvenir shops.
  • The third target is next to the weapons store. After hacking it, quickly send data from the terminal next to Officer Dara.
Return to Liara for your reward and take on the next quest. To deal with the Dark Broker, she needs the head of his local Observer. But to find out the identity of the Observer, Liara needs information from local terminals.

  • The first terminal - under the stairs of Liara's office - will tell us the following: “The vorcha merchant does not want to mess with a salarian, who is more trouble than he's worth. The Observer recommends his removal, but she could be harboring a grudge.”
  • The second terminal is next to the large blue screen. Data: “The turian liaison works well with the merchant. The Observer canceled the order to kill him because otherwise it would have been too difficult to establish contact with the merchant.”
  • The third terminal is even further, where the talkative volus trades on the stock exchange. “The merchant tried to kill the batarian. He explained that he did not like slave traders, but, probably, the matter was explained by the struggle for money. Now let's watch..."
  • Another terminal is at the stairs leading to the Eternity bar. “The Turian is too curious. The Observer recommends killing him by framing an assassin or a salarian liaison.”
  • The last terminal is in the bar. “The smuggler and the murderer refused to work with Gurcha, saying they didn’t trust him. It’s strange to see such scrupulousness.”
We are primarily interested in the words “she could harbor a grudge.” Call Liara and find out if there is anyone among the suspects who is female. Then return to her and collect the reward.

After successful completion (for this conversation I only needed to complete one quest to hack the terminals), she will go to her apartment to think, we go to the same place where the terminals were hacked, take a taxi to her. Perhaps this quest became available to me because of my previous relationship with Liara. After which we go on a quest straight to the xero intermediary with detective elements, car chases and fights in the center of the storm. One of the most interesting quests in the game!

After Greene completed all the planets and quests before the task on the horizon, a message arrived in the mail from Cerberus with information for Liara. I read the letter and received the quest: the lair of the Shadow Broker.

During a visit to Illium, I immediately chose the dialogue with “...Shadow Broker”, after which it immediately became possible to visit the apartment by taxi

If you play as a stormtrooper, arrogance is second nature!

From the very beginning of the battle, use the charge. A strong charge should throw him back a little, then you tickle him with the “Ripper”. As soon as you start shooting, walk right next to him in circles towards the hand with the shield, he simply won’t be able to hit. As soon as the charge is ready again, we repeat.
