How to unlock the Warp Specialist achievement in Mass Effect 2 - Definitive Guide

The best place to farm these kills is at :
Crescent Nebula to the Zelene system and then scan the planet on the 2nd ring (Helyme) from the middle for hidden mission.

Once on this mission you will need to have miranda in your squad (or anyone who has the warp ability).

You should encounter at least 1, if not 2 barriers you can remove before getting to the computer to hack it. Once you hack it, set you squad to take cover towards the back of the platform the computer is on and then you will have 3 sets of enemies come out. There should be at least 3 vanguards you can warp the barriers on.

Once the computer is done hacking (don't go back to check the computer or the mission will end) and all the enemies are dead, just reload your autosave (you don't need to restart the mission) so that you start at the computer and need to re-kill all the enemies again. You can get 3 or more barrier removals per reload so in about 10 minutes you can have all 25 done.

Perfect place to do this. I recommend saving just before you hack the computer, then you can fight everyone and warp the vanguard's barriers, then reload and do it again and again until you get the 25.

Warp ammo doesn't count. Only the warp ability.

I don't get these biotic achievements!?

I manually use warp and overload on multiple enemies with barriers and shields, but it still does not count?

You have to deplete the barrier or shield completely. If you use warp or overload and it only takes a little of the barrier or shield down that doesn't count.

Take Thane with you too cos he has the HEAVY WARP ability so you dont have wear down their barrier just use both meranda and thane at the same time on one barrier..... Works a treat

oh and you get a total of 7 vanguards in this so you can do it in 4 reloads .. you get 4 before you hack the terminal then the rest after but you will need to be quick cos your team mates will remove the barriers with their weapons

I did mine on Horizon with Miranda. You dont have do the full damage to barrier with warp but it has to be the 'finishing' blow to that bar. Also my tracker went up every 5.

Thanks, this was a great location to farm it in 10-15mins. I took both Miranda and Thane to double down on the Warp. If you still need the Incinerate achievement and happen to be an Infiltrator, there is also one enemy at the end with an armor bar.

FYI, before the Crescent Nebula is available, you have to complete the Horizon mission, which is only available after recruiting the first four team members suggested by the Illusive Man. In other words, it's not available from the moment you have control of the Normandy.

This goes for all the biotic cheevos. Go into the options/Gameplay and put Squad Power Usage to off. This way they will not use them without you commanding it. I know when I was trying for Tactician, one of my squad members would always use a power when i needed the both of them to use it.

When an enemy's health gauge is purple, it means a biotic barrier is active.

Either use warp yourself or order a squad mate to use warp on an enemy's barrier to count one towards this achievement. The warp must completely remove the barrier, so you may need to soften up the barrier with gunfire or use two warps at lower levels.

If a squad mate uses warp on an enemy without you ordering them to do so, it won't count towards this achievement.

Progress on this achievement will show in the corner of the screen when you're successful; you can also check progress using Shepard's terminal in his/her quarters aboard the Normandy.

Okay, we need a better solution here.

"Barriers" are PURPLE shields over the enemy's health bars. If you're going just for this and want to make your life EASIER, go to gameplay options in the start menu and switch to "casual" mode and turn off "Squad Power Usage" so they only go biotic when you want it. I did mine on the Samara mission on Illium because there are barriers over the place—check the other solution for alternatives.

Essentially you can damage the barrier shield with whatever but YOU must call Miri (Miranda) or whoever has the WARP ability (not ammo) to finish off that shield. The game doesn't tie the achievement to the save, so you can restart the same auto-save and drill those mercs over and over.

The progress bar WON'T SHOW EVERY TIME like it did for some of the other achievements (Tactician)—it'll only show for 5, 10, etc. Hope that helped.

Another easy place to do this is on Grunt's loyalty mission. Make sure that you choose the particle beam as your heavy weapon and have Miranda as your team mate.

Make sure that you have the particle beam equipped as you beat the thresher maw and have some ammo for it, 40 to 50 should be enough. As the cutscene ends and you start to fight Gatatog Uvenk he will literally be centered in your sites. Just crank a second or two of particle beam into Gatatog until he has less than half of his barrier left, I usually aim for about a quarter left. Then stop shooting and tell Miranda to use her Warp on him. You'll see a blue flame around Gatatog and hear an explosion. That means you got one. Reload your save and do it again until you get it.

Took me 10 - 15 minutes.

If you played through the game already and want to get this, the final mission is a good place - on hardcore difficulty all of the collectors have barriers on. Bring Miranda with you and turn squad power usage to off, then order her to use warp on their barriers. Every five barriers you should get a tracking pop-up telling you how many more you need to do - I kept redoing the first leg of the mission where you protect the tech specialist until I had enough.

In order for a Barrier to count as "Warped" the Barrier must dispelled(As in the last part of the bar must be depleted by it) with a Warp attack, Warp Ammo does not count.

Barriers are the rarest form of protection on enemies, mostly found on Collector Troops and Harbinger when he assumes control of one.

If you instruct a Squadmate who has Warp to warp the barrier manually via the power wheel or D-pad shortcut it will count for the trophy, if a Squadmate dispels a Barrier with Warp on their own accord it will not count.

Warp is Available to Adept and Sentinel Shepards.
Squadmates with Warp are Miranda and Thane, and Liara in "Lair of the Shadow Broker"

Warp is a biotic power that is only available to the adept and sentinel classes. If you are not one of those classes, then Miranda, Thane, or Liara (in Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC) will have this power. Barriers appear similar to shields and are denoted by a purple bar. You have to completely deplete the barrier bar for this to count. Your companions wiping out a barrier in one hit will count for the trophy, but you have to trigger it using . Unless you’re playing on Casual or have an evolved form of Warp, knock the enemy’s shields down about halfway and then fire Warp.

You will find plenty of enemies throughout the game with barrier. Thane and Samara’s recruitment missions have plenty of enemies with them as well as any mission involving the collectors or asari mercenaries. The mission on Horizon also has quite a few collectors using barrier.

When you encounter a large group of enemies with barriers, warp the barriers with Warp and reload the checkpoint. Your progress will save.

Barrier is a type of shield, but only biotics use them. The blue bar will specifically say barrier instead of shields. You, or a squad member, have to deal the finishing blow to the barrier bar with the Warp power 25 times to earn the achievement. Asari (Eclipse mercenaries) and occasionally krogan will have them. The Collector’s, assassins and harbingers specifically, also use them quite often. Thane and Samara’s recruiting missions both have a good amount of biotics that will use barriers for you to remove.

Note: Find a group of enemies using barriers and destroy them all using warp. Then reload your checkpoint. It will keep your progress and you can repeat the process until you get the achievement.

Miranda, Thane and Liara have the Warp skill. Take one of them as your partner on missions to recruit Thane and Samara, or on a mission in the horizon, where there are plenty of enemies with barriers. You need to use the “Deformation” ability to completely remove the enemy’s barrier. You can first loosen it by half with your hands. You can also find a bunch of enemies, remove a couple of barriers from them, and then load the checkpoint. Everything will go to trophies.

The easiest way to do this is on the Horizon mission, when we meet a controlled collector for the first time. There will be about 15 enemies there, then we just let ourselves be killed and replay from the checkpoint.

For those who missed the mission on the horizon, there is an opportunity to easily get a trophy on the story mission on the “abandoned” collector ship. We take Miranda and if you don’t get it during the mission, it’s done through a save/lod in 10 minutes.

If you like to get achievements in the "complete part->load->repeat" way, then starting a mission on the horizon is ideal. When we just disembark from the shuttle and walk 20 meters, a detachment of collectors immediately lands nearby. There will be two "killers" with barriers. If your Shep is a guardian/adept with a pumped-up deformation, and you took Miranda on the mission, then you can farm the trophy in 13 loads. When collectors “land” with the help of their wings, they are absolutely defenseless for a second, so we need to sprint forward immediately after landing, wait for the collectors to attack, and then through the order menu we deform the barrier of one killer ourselves, and deform the second with the help of Miranda. At an average difficulty level, two points invested in deformation will be enough to completely remove the barrier. One killer lands next to the loading machine and an explosive barrel on the left, the second behind the container on the right.
One such approach takes less than a minute.

After the mid-game, enemies with barriers will start to appear much more often. Collectors actively use barriers (Almost every collector has a barrier), so it will be quite easy to get a trophy in the mission on Horizon and on the Abandoned Collector Ship. Use the necessary skills when the barrier scale is somewhere in the middle and the trophy is yours.

PS Mercenaries from the Eclipse squad (dressed in yellow armor) also use barriers.
