How to unlock the Conspiracy Theorist achievement in Mass Effect 3 - Definitive Guide

--- First achievement of the Leviathan DLC, MISSABLE ---

In the first room you can control Shepard, you need to search for clues for the system you need to go to, and enable/disable found clues on a galaxy map interface. Simple point-and-click around the house. After you have narrowed it down to five or three, you can leave the place. Do NOT leave yet! (If you did leave but didn't complete the first combat mission, you can return and still get this) You need to narrow it down to one. There are 6 filters total, and of those you need the following:

Reaper Activities ON
Prothean Activity OFF
Element Zero ON
Rachni Activity OFF
Blackout Crimes OFF
Creature Sightings ON

(you don't actually need to find those that are set to off, but it can't really be avoided if you touch everything with orange brackets on it)

All of these are really simple to find by point-and-click, reaper activities is the only slightly more cryptic one. For this you need an encryption key for a datapad, which is found upstairs in a drawing by the scientist's daughter. When you have it, go click on the datapad again.

The complete map will end up looking like this:

...which tells us Dr. Bryson keeps his galaxy map upside down, since it's really nowhere near there in Normandy's galaxy map.

Update:
There is another similar scene in the DLC later on, and it might also be a possible trigger for this achievement, if you missed it in the beginning. Needs further info to confirm though.
Nope, doesn't work. Thanks sirbradenwalker!

I found all 6 and activated them all before I left, but it didn't pop. I thought once I found Leviathan it would pop, but no. Luckily I created a save in each location of the DLC in case something like this happened. I'll go back to the lab and try it again, activating only the ones you designated.

Great guide, got it on my first try thanks to you. Finding the clues is not too hard but having the right filter settings on the map is key. Your guide really helped with getting the key. I voted positive.

Good guide, I'd advise putting in bold and capitals that it is missable.

I was able to return in the room after leaving (left Citadel and returned), but before completing the next objective. I don't know yet if you can return after completing the whole DLC though. Need to check it out.

Narrowed it down to one system the 2nd time you are in the lab and it didn't pop. Thankfully I have multiple characters.

The safest way to get it just seems to poke everything and methodically trawl through every room until you find it all. And EDIs dialog is worth the time anyway :)

Good guide, I voted positively but it would be much better if you stated where all the clues were. Took me forever to find the Reaper Activities because I didn't know you had to go back to the pictures.

You can also use any save you have before you trigger endgame or start this dlc (i did saves after every priority mission back in Normandy), so while it's technically possible to overwrite all your savefiles, it's really hard to mess up the whole career in regards to this achievement.

This worked really nice, but you will need to save because the achievo is glitchy.

Here's a video that i have made showing the locations of 5/6 of the clues.

In order to get the achievement, you need only find the Reaper Activities clue, the Element Zero Clue and the Alien Sightings clue.

Activate these 3 clues on the Galaxy Map to pinpoint your next location and the achievement is yours.

The purpose of this achievement is to find 6 clues in an Office to refine your search, and deduce the EXACT location of Doctor Bryson on the Galaxy Map by activating only 3 of them. You can leave after having refined your search just a little, so do not do that at any cost. Refine your search until you have ONE location and one location only.

When you are able to move freely, check the Galaxy Map, then go outside, left of your shuttle. There is a Pistol Cranial Trauma System on some containers. At the end of the garden you’re in, behind a tree, are Pistol Ultralight Materials.

In one corner of the lab, where it’s written « murder TZ 995 », « murder N0.3L.9 » and « murder IN.CTRN8 » on some screens, you’ll find 2 Computer Consoles to examine. Do so and it will refine your search (1/6). Well hidden in this corner is a SMG High-Velocity Barrel.

There is a Prothean Artifact to check on the right side of the map, behind glass. It will refine your search (2/6).

In the other room is a Video Log on the left, next to some Encrypted Data you can partially check for now. Next is a Sovereign Fragment, on the opposite side a Picture (kid’s drawing N°1), another Video Log, and a Computer Console (3/6).

Behind all that is another mod, a SMG Mass Pulse Recoil System, and next to it some Rocks that will require the use of a Scope for another update of your search (4/6). Continue your tour to the right, checking some Creature Sightings which will need the use of a Light on the right, then another check. Search refined (5/6).

There is a PDA on the counter (may hold EXP for you), then you will have to move upstairs for another Picture (kid’s drawing N°2) and an Audio Log. The Picture will bring you back to the Encrypted Data. Decrypt it with the code on the kid’s drawing and you shall receive your last filter (6/6).

Now back at the map, you should have 6 filters with everything you checked, but only 3 are relevant. To get your achievement, activate everything just to be sure, and then DEACTIVATE Rachni Activity, Blackout Crimes and Prothean Activity. EDI will tell you that you have a match, and the Conspiracy Theorist achievement will unlock on the spot.

(Missable) Fortunately, even though this is the only missable trophy in the Leviathan DLC, it is also the first one that you will probably unlock. After EDI arrives, you'll need to search Dr. Bryson's lab for clues to pinpoint the location of Leviathan. Activate the galaxy map console and then start searching the lab. Everything will be in reference to where you start the scene, facing the galaxy map. There are only three that you need to unlock the trophy.

  • Creature Sightings - Go through the door to the left of the galaxy map. Turn to the right and use the switch at the end of the kitchen counter and then examine "Creature Sightings."
  • Locations with Element Zero - To the left of Creature Sightings, there will be a counter with a rock on it. Examine the rock and then look at it through the scope to obtain the Element Zero filter.
  • Reaper Activities - Turn around from Creature Sightings and go to the other side of the room. Watch the video log next to Encrypted Data. Go upstairs and examine the picture on the table in Dr. Bryson's bedroom. There is the encryption key for the datapad. Go back downstairs and use "Encrypted Data."

Once you have all three of those filters, return to the galaxy map and activate them one at a time. Shortly after you have the location filtered down to one possible system, the trophy will unlock.

It is possible to leave the lab without having a definite location for Garneau. Do NOT leave the lab until you have galaxy map narrowed down to one location using the three filters above.

search the laboratory on both floors, collect 6 clues and on the galaxy screen there in the laboratory, combine them, find 1 location and get the trophy

to get the trophy you need to combine 3 clues (for me it was 1 meeting with unknown aliens, 2 the location of the zero element and 3 these were the flight routes of the reapers)

The key is that you don't have to turn on all the filters. Required to include: 0 element, reapers and creature sightings

One of the most important clues, with coordinates (I will keep it near my heart) is located on the 2nd floor of the laboratory.

In fact, you only need three clues to get the trophy. To do this, you need to examine the meteorite, study the map on the wall and hack the computer using the picture on the table on the second floor. This is enough to determine the exact location on the galaxy map.

In the very first mission in the laboratory there will be hints, explore everything. After examining all the clues on the galaxy map there will be possible places where the desired object is located, in total there will be 6 objects related to the search on the console. The very last clue should be in the form of children's drawings, including those on the top floor of the laboratory. You need to activate on the console - 1) “Meetings with the Creature”, 2) “Reaper Activity”, 3) “Finding the Zero Element” - in that order! After this there will be the exact location of the desired place on the Galaxy map.
