Lost and Found

Lost and Found

Dispatch 10 probes to retrieve people or resources in Reaper territory.

How to unlock the Lost and Found achievement in Mass Effect 3 - Definitive Guide

As you fly through the galaxy, certain planets can be scanned to find people or objects. Attaining 10 of these hidden resources will pop this achievement, but it's a much slower and more arduous task if you just fly around blindly scanning EVERYTHING, getting chased away by Reapers, and having to return later and hope you remember which planets you already scanned, so as to avoid provoking another attack.

So, below I have included a link to a list of areas to scan. It's not 100% (I found one entire system within a particular cluster that wasn't even listed, and did have a couple obhjects in it) but it will be more than enough to net you this achievment and get you well on your way to building up some good war asset numbers. Enjoy!

You're more than likely to net this achievement through natural progression if you're tackling side quests for war assets but I thought I'd lay out a list of 10 just to help out. I won't say what you're probing for so as to not take away from any of the amazing story and the depth that's gone into it but rather just the locations and when you come into contact with the people throughout the story who eventually task you with it things will make more sense.

The achievement only requires you to probe the locations and recover the items or people not turn them in.

I’ve laid the list out in the following formula: planet/station - system contained - cluster

1. Intai'sei - Phoenix - Azrgos Rho
2. Kopis - Hoplos - Hades Nexus
3. Carcosa - Agaiou - Nimbus Cluster
4. Irune - Aru - Aethon Cluster
5. Dekuuna - Phontes - Silean Nebula
6. Khar'shan - Harsa - Kite's Nest
7. Gei Hinnom - Sheol - Hades Nexus
8. Polissa - Vernio - Athena Nebula
9. Talis Fia - Urla Rast - Shrike Abysal
10. Garvug - Paz - Valhallan Threshold

Ensure you're fueled up when you embark and as you progress through the game more and more clusters become patrolled by reapers. Although you know exactly where you're looking with this guide for specific things if you want to hit 100% assets recover for each system it's easier to knock this stuff out earlier in the game. If reapers do end up being alerted to your presence and chase you through the system you can go complete a mission elsewhere and when you return they'll be gone.

*If you would prefer a Video Guide for this Achievement, then you can watch the video provided below, or choose to read a Text Guide.*

- The Text and Video Guide both show you how to unlock the "Lost and Found" & "Untouchable" Achievement's in Mass Effect 3.

Text Guide (Lost and Found):

First off, on the Normandy, go to your Galaxy map which is on the second level of the ship. Then, enter a Reaper controlled system. If you're just starting the Campaign, then you'll notice there are very few Reaper controlled systems that you can access at the moment. Don't worry, you'll be able to access more systems as you complete more missions. Now, once you're inside a Reaper Controlled system, start scanning around the planets using 'LT'. If you see a red warning notification around the planet, then go to the planet. Then press 'Y' once to start the Scanner. Then hold 'LT' to scan and look for resources or survivors. Once you've found something, launch a probe. Do this 10 times, and your Achievement will unlock.

Text Guide (Untouchable):

When you're searching for planets to scan, you'll notice that your "Reaper Alertness" level is rising every time you scan using 'LT'. When the Reapers come, they'll try and kill you. Find the nearest Mass Relay to escape and your Achievement will unlock!

Hope this helps! Thank you.

I unlocked this achievement by flying out of the system, I didn't need to use the relay.

An easy way to 'boost' this:

When you found something an your "Lost and Found"-Counter raises, spamm 'LT' till the Reaper kill you. You will then start off in the same cluster. Scan the planet again and it will counts towards your counter again. Just repeat this 10 times.

Once inside Reaper territory you can use to scan for resources. EDI will let you know if something has been found. Enter the planet's orbit that gets marked, to start the scan, then hold while you rotate the planet until a white light shows up. Then hit and launch a probe to retrieve the resource. Sometimes you will find things related to your sidequests. If you need to "find something", many times it's something you find while looking for resources.

Note: You may keep reloading your checkpoint after finding one if you want to get this achievement out of the way faster.

This works similarly to planet scanning in Mass Effect 2. On the galaxy map, you will see that certain star clusters have a reaper icon over them. Those are systems under the control of the reapers. Like with Mass Effect 2, each cluster has multiple planetary systems that you can explore and scan the planets of. Scan a planet with and EDI will tell you if there is something worth searching for on the planet. If there is, send a probe down there to find it. What you find may help towards your galactic readiness and in the ultimate fight against the reapers.

It is worth noting that by scanning planets, the reapers will take notice of you and eventually, go after the Normandy. If this happens, you will have to leave, complete a mission, and then return. Some systems also have multiple items that will require multiple scans and therefore bring the attention of the reapers.

You will first be able to scan planets before the mission on Palaven’s moon. Simply scan 10 of the following planets and obtain whatever resources that they hold.

The trophy is cumulative, and probably the easiest, you can get it in just a couple of minutes. You arrive in a system captured by the reapers. Find all the resources in the system and let the reapers catch you. You reboot, collect the same things from the same places and again let yourself be caught by the reapers. All finds will go into accumulation. That is, if there are 2 points with resources in the system, 5 reboots and the trophy is yours.
