Sucks that your teammates can't do this for you. Guess I'll play as a Sentinel on my Insanity playthrough.

Yes it does. I'm playing as Sentinel right now, so as soon as I get some more free time I should have this achievement popped.

Yes Multiplayer and Single Player should carry over. I will update the solution to include that. Thank you.

If you want to checkpoint run it, you can start a new game on Narrative difficulty with an Engineer, run through to Mars and get to the point where you switch trams (along with a fight).

Immediately after this, you get an autosave and enter an area with a Centurion (guy with energy shield) and some regular troopers. After you kill them all there is another Centution behind safety glass that you can overload.

Two overloads/min, took me about 45 minutes to go from 0-100. Not bad.

Multiplayer is definitely the quickest way to get this and the other powers/tech achievements. However, I highly recommend playing through the game as an engineer as the class is totally badass.

As tempted as I would be to do the checkpoint reload trick, I think I'll just make an Engineer on MP and roll with him.

@Chimaera36: what a waste of precious 45 mins. you'll get this in MP in no time (and with fun)

Is Overload one of the squad powers we can get later in the game? If it is, can we get Overload as a bonus power and use it as a Soldier to pop this achievement? I know multiplayer can get this easily, but I don't plan on playing MP at all so that doesn't help me out much lol.

This is not really multiplayer, it's a 4-player coop, try it, I was very sceptical but now I love it:)

What I meant is this is not versus multiplayer, I know some people don't like playing against other people, but this is not the case

By Yuhans on 10 Mar 2012 15:51
Overload is not a second power you can pick up. You have to be playing a class that has this.

@yuhans more than 1 player = multiplayer (plural). yes it isn't versus multiplayer but it's co-op multiplayer. no need to be a dick and correct people like you did and I'm doing now unless you have a good reason (like being even more literal than your mongoloid ass)

Well it is called multiplayer so therefor I believe it is multiplayer Yuhans. It doesn't say 4-player co-op on the main menu.

Got this in 3 MP matches with the engineer, we won the matches so 30 or so rounds.

You get more shielded enemies in the later rounds, also worth mentioning you can combine this with the pyromaniac achievement if using the engineer.

I don't think it did... spent the 6 points to get the upgrade (I am playing as soldier) and although it absolutely smashes through shields, it does NOT seem to work :-(

This is easy as pie in the MP. You can get 30-40 overloads per round (depending on which enemy force you are pitted against).

Just to mention you can get about 4-5 overloads off on an Atlas, so it might be worth searching for Cerberus as the enemy on multiplayer.

It takes about 3 matches of Multiplayer if you are player as the Engineer. I was a Human Engineer Level 4 when I started this achievement with 0 Shield Overloads. My match settings were: Map Unkown, Enemy Geth and Difficulty Bronze. I was playing in a full team with Randoms. Just spam Overload everywhere.

I started a match yesterday as an engineer, and on my first map which lasted 19:11 till extraction i got 73 overloads (against geth) so this only needs 2 matches to get.

Do you have to remove the shield completely? Or just hit the shield with overload?

Just hit the shield. It was counting multiple for me on a atlas shield.

I wish I would have read this before I just spent 45 hours on my first play through. As awesome as this game was, I'm not putting another 45+ hours into. I'm looking forward the studio's next endeavor though.

you can get this from starting a new game and then get to mars play intill you get to dr eva where you have to chase her there is a autosave so you can load it back up and can just use overload then reload

This is very tough to solo in MP mostly because it's hard to find the right configuration that will give you shielded enemies early on, and the MP characters are no Shepard - they go down quick and they go down hard. So, it's hard to last long enough to find any. If anyone else is in the same boat, I went with Firebase Condor for the map, Cerberus for the enemy, and Gold for the challenge level. This combination usually spawned a few Nemeses and a few Centurions right in the first wave. I always died quickly but was still able to get 4 - 5 overcharges off each attempt.

It looks to me like Yuhans was just trying to let people know that BioWare/EA are not following the standard gaming convention of referring to cooperative multiplayer as "co-op" and competitive multiplayer as simply "multiplayer". Indeed, it doesn't say "4-player co-op" in the main menu, but to alleviate confusion perhaps it should.

Regardless, Yuhans' message was informative and well-intentioned, and even enthusiastic about the MP/co-op/whatever. Calling Yuhans a dick and a mongoloid is out of line.

Mp seems like the quickest way to do this. My Shepard is and always will be a soldier (tried the other classes and I just enjoy this one the mos) so I figure doing it in mp will be quickest/easiest method. Thanks for the solution though I do want to echo the sentiment put forward by other posters that the fact that you're team can't do this for you is rather annoying.

Very easy to obtain this with multiplayer if you don’t want to create an engineer/sentinel shepard. I created an engineer for multiplayer and played one bronze, 3 silvers with a team of 3 other players. I did this in one sitting took me about 1 or 2 hours. ( as of 17/06/2020 I surprisingly didn’t have difficulty getting players) Spam overload on any enemy you see with a shield. It seems to work well on Atlas Mech as their shield is strong so you can hit them multiple times. Would suggest using either Geth or Cerberus as your opponents as they have more enemies with shields compared to reapers. Good Luck!! If you need someone to play multiplayer with, hit me up and I’ll try to assist.

During the mission N7: Cerberus labs there is an infinite spawn of enemys, Alot of which have shields: Centurions, Engineers, Turrets.

At the very end of the mission cortez will arrive telling you to get to the extraction point, DO NOT go to the extraction point. Instead head to the stairs above the extraction point and begin using overload on everything with a shield and kill anything else that doesn't have one. Then proceed to run back into the facility towards where you collected the first reaper artifact and back out to the top of the stairs. Another wave of enemys should now have begun spawning.

Doing this i managed to get 100 Overloards in 20-30 Mins starting from 0

-If your standing at the top of some stairs and you CAN NOT see the shuttle from where your standing, your at the wrong stairs. The shuttle should be right next to you.

Best done on Narrative difficulty.

This is my fifth play-through and finally decieed to go for this, but NOW I'm having the same problem of no endless horde to overkill! on a plus note though I can confirm that if you run out of cerberus to kill just go to load and restart mission and this will allow you to continue getting overloads! but xtimes solution is a fast easy to get this :D

It worked like a charm. Recommend this to anyone who doesn't want to play multiplayer, got the achievenment in 30 minutes from zero. It helps that this is one of the first missions you get.

This may have been patched? Didn't work for me on Normal, Narrative, or Insanity Difficulties.

What does work is reloading your autosave after killing all the enemies. I was getting 9 or 10 Overloads per load, depending on how many turrets were set up.

I don't see anything about it being patched here: http://social.bioware.com/page/me3-patches

Are you certain you were at the very end of the mission?

Worked great for me. Had to reload my save one time to get the unlimited spawn, but worked well considering I play only a soldier and have no interest in the MP. Thanks for posting!

Not sure it'd be faster, but if you DON'T mod overload to spread to other targets you could command your squad behind a wall and just keep overloading the turret the engineer places. After you kill it he places another and keeps doing it. I wasn't smart enough to mod it that way though, heh.

I got this in less than two missions on Xbox LIVE. I fought against the Geth because of their excessive amount of shields, and was an engineer.
(Equipping light weapons so that your recharge is quicker is really nice because it allows you to spam overload on enemies. Its really easy to get!

Thanks for the tip...do you know if you have to destroy the shield in the process, or just use overload? I seem to remember in ME2, you had to literally destroy the shield/barrier with the ability in order for it to count.

By Ace Southpaw 32 on 29 Mar 2012 00:36
I didn't pay attention to whether you had to destroy it or not. If you level your overload enough, you'll usually be able to take down their shields in one or two hits.

You don't have to destroy the shields, only bring them down. You can register 2-3 hits on a Geth Prime or an Atlas Mech.

Thought I was screwed because my character was a solider and had no overload ability. Then I read this solution. I easily got it in two multiplayer missions. I think I got 60 overloads in the first mission alone.

Shields are on specific enemies. You will know there is a shield because above the health bar of the enemy you will see a blue shield bar. Overload is a specific power that looks like electricity going in all directions. Use this 100 times on enemies that have shields.

Note: Even after dying, the ones you have obtained count. They count across all playthroughs as well as multiplayer (which you can play by yourself). Must be done by your Shep! Squad uses do not count.

You will need Overload for this trophy. So, you will need to choose either Sentinel or Engineer for your class. Here’s the key part, YOU have to be the one with the ability and you have to use it. It will not count if you’re using the abilities of your squad mates.

As long as you have the power, simply use overload on 100 different enemies. Any shields that you overload in multiplayer count for this trophy towards total. Any enemy that you use Overload on, you have to wipe out their shields. On lower difficulties, this will be easy as one blast (especially after you upgrade it) will do the trick. On Insanity, you'll have to wear down their shields about a third to halfway before firing Overload.

Using the Reboot skill 100 times, the Guardian has, is very easy to do on easy difficulty.

The main character must have the Overload skill. If you use the skill of another team member, it will not count. So if you are completing a single with a hero who does not have this skill, go online, select an engineer and calmly knock out the trophy.

It’s easier to score in multiplayer as a Human Engineer. In addition to the “Reboot” ability we need, he also has “Ignition” and “Drone”, which are very helpful when playing on gold and platinum.

A method for those who do not want or cannot play multiplayer and for those who completed the game with a class without the overload ability.

We start a new game, take the “Guardian” or “Engineer” class, set it to the easiest difficulty and quickly go through the first mission on Earth and the second on Mars.

-Naturally we teach at least 1 point of the “Overload” skill.

-After talking with advisers on the Citadel, we return to Normandy and take mission N7 “Cerberus Laboratory”.

-After selecting the equipment and team at the beginning of the mission, we save manually.

-We overload all enemies with shields (they have a blue life bar) and finish them off with weapons (turrets also count).

-For a mission you get 15-20 overloads.

-At the very end, do not board the ship, but press start and load the save at the beginning of the level and again.

The mission is very short, on the easiest one there will be no problems. For 5-6 repetitions of the mission you will receive a trophy.
