How to unlock the The One and Only achievement in Mass Effect 3 - Definitive Guide

In order to get this achievement you will first need to acquire one gold token to buy "Mirror Match" at the Armax Store.
This is basically playing you against yourself (your Shepard that is) while the enemy Shepards use different classes.

Now before I post the way I did it I guess that Tomjeh's way (as he pointed out in my "Simulated Hero" guide) will makes this quite easy.

It's basically setting the combat difficulty in the options menu to "Narrative", beat waves 1 & 2 and let one enemy live in wave 3.
Now switch the combat difficulty back to "Normal" and kill the last enemy, achievement should pop now.
I didn't do it myself so I can't confirm whether or not this works.

---

Now to the way I did it:
- Map: Wingman
- Enemy: Mirror Match
- Score Modifier: Enhanced Damage Boost

When the match starts, turn left and run to the far corner on the lowest level.
Position yourself on the very last cover point and your squad mates on the two cover points before you.

I used Garrus and Liara while I was playing Sentinel.
Liara is very good for biotic combos while Garrus is good to get shields down.

The most difficult part is that the enemies tend to rush your place, so you will need to make good use of powers like Overload or Biotic Explosions to stagger them.
Also, it seemed to me like some powers can hit you even behind cover and stagger you, what makes you vulnerable for more biotic attacks which can basically drag you out of cover.
If you keep your head in cover and watch your left and right to not get flanked, this should go quite well.
Usually, the Infiltrator was the last enemy standing so keep an eye for your cloaked clone.

I would also recommend using the M-7 Lancer as it has infinite ammo, so you won't need to run for ammo boxes.
You're not going for points here therefore don't go for the bonus pickups in between waves as that can make your previous position an enemy spawn zone.

That's about it, might take a few tries but I got it on my first try this way.

Just deleted my solution for this as Tomjehs is much easier. This was quite hard even on normal.

Yeah I thought so too, but I did it as described in the second half of the guide and I did it on my first try ^^
Wasn't that hard after all if you keep any eye open not getting flanked.

Got it first try with the changing difficulty method. Didn't even bothered to set the match like listed. Started on Classic Arena and stayed exactly where it begins, using cover to wipe the fake Shepards out. In the last wave, the game will even point out the last enemy, so all you have to do is pay attention to the squared target that appears around the last jerk. When it happens, pause the game and turn back to normal. Them, just finish him!

-Cerberus Harrier
-Geth Plasma Shotgun

This is all you need also I recommend the map SpinZone I thought Wingman was too small and I could get easy flanked. This map is a big bigger and has more coverage.

Another tip to use your medi gel if needed. My health would go down half was or more and then I'd use it. Liara and Garrus didn't go down.
+1 For guide other than using the M7 which is crappy and Wingman wasn't a good fit was too small.

I did this at the same time as the 9999 points one, although for some reason I only got the achievement for that. Tried it again and it was fine, although I found squad and map choice irrelevant as you're practically invincible on Narrative

"Tomjeh's" method is still working fine here (15/02/2014), got to the last man and swapped it back to normal. The achieve popped. Thanks man smile

I haven't played through the whole campaign but I am at the assault on illusive man and I have played through the whole game on insanity if I switch difficulty will that take away the insanity achievement?

Probably yes.
I would recommend makind a save file just before starting the assault on Cerberus HQ (Cronos Station), continue and complete your playthrough.
Then, load your save file again and go for this achievement.
If you have already started the assault on Cerberus HQ, you can't go to the Citadel anymore without loading a previous save.

I gave up and did the Narrative mode. I couldn't afford to waste an entire day doing this legit. Just too much game to get through.

Doing all this again on the other console, don't remember the AI being so aggressive (almost rushing shepard, with no power cooldowns and way higher shields & armour).. the way they are on narrative feels like what they should be on normal (or easy if they had cooldowns)

Just to add to your solution, you can 100% use the narrative until last enemy strategy. Simply ensure you switch over before finishing the last enemy.

Where is the combat arena? Sorry if it's a stupid question but the guide (and the others) don't tell you how to find the combat arena, I assume it's on the Citadel somewhere?

It's with the Citadel DLC, after you have access to your penthouse suite go out the front door to the promenade and strait ahead is the armex arena this is the place your looking for.

I didn't think Insanity was that hard. I personally did it on the spin zone, level 60 shepherd, the M-7 Lancer X with Garrus and Liara. Have Garrus hit with overload, Liara use warp and you hit them with what ever power you have. Got it on my second try. A got trick is to keep hitting the power wheel. To see where everyone is.

SirLugash you may want to add this to the easier solution as this is what i did for both arena achievements.

I did this achievement played on (Narrative) with all point +% but I killed all of the N7 people and just after the box saying your score popped up where it says try again (B) or continue (A) after you click (A) you are still in the arena for a bit so then change the difficulty to Normal, Hardcore, or Insanity and it popped up for me.

Just finished this on Normal Difficulty (without changing)

Level: Spin Zone
Mods: Player Damage Boost
Challenge Difficulty: Foot Soldiers*
(If you lose once and go back to the terminals, it lets you change the difficulty, not sure if it actually works, but it seems slightly easier).

Lv. 60 Infiltrator
Black Widow Sniper: Concentration Mod + Extended Barrel
Armor: Full Hahne-Kedar (Weapon Damage)

Note: Be sure to maximize your time dilation by unzooming and then re-zooming between shots.
With all the damage mods on, 2 headshots kills every simulant easy.

Allies:
Garrus and Zaeed (both set with M-13 Raptor Snipers)
M-13 Snipers: Extended Barrel + Ultralightweight Materials
Zaeed's passives set for max weapon damage.

The AI equipped with the sniper somehow manage to fire in 3 round bursts regardless of the sniper they use.

Never bothered with any abilities, just let my allies do their own thing.

I completed this yesterday on Insanity, and it wasn't too hard: I did it on my first try.

Class: Soldier
Map: Wingman
Squad: Javik; Grunt

Shepard: M-7 Lancer V, with AR Piercing Mod IV and AR Magazine Upgrade V; Cerberus Nightmare Armour.

Javik: Particle Rifle V, with AR Stability Damper V; AR Piercing Mod IV.

Grunt: M-7 Lancer V, with AR Stability Damper V; AR Piercing Mod IV.

Strategy: Play smart. I don't think I did anything particularly clever. Stick to cover as best as you can, and go from cover to cover when the grenades are thrown at you. Keep distance between you and the enemies, and use the terrain to your advantage for breaking their line-of-sight. As with the rest of Insanity in ME3, and so too on lower difficulties, make use of your squad powers - Grunt's Concussive Shot is very useful for setting off Fire Explosions, primed by Shepard's Incendiary Ammo, and Javik's Biotic abilities keep the enemies debuffed.

I found the fight at the end of the DLC to be harder, for comparison. Grunt and Javik were particularly useful because they actually engaged the enemy, unlike some squadmates that just seem to stand around.

I'm happy to try my best to answer any questions, if there's further details you feel you may need.

Sorry, Jet Klaatu. I didn't see a notification.

I imagine you've since found out where it is, but if not, it's part of the Citadel DLC - opposite the entrance to the apartment complex as you walk onto the Silversun Strip. It's Point of Interest 5 on the map.

This trophy is more annoying than anything else. For this, you have to fight a bunch of Shepards' in the Combat arena on Normal/Hardcore/Insanity.

You can do it the hard way, actually doing it on normal (hardcore or insanity), or drop the combat down to narrative and head into the simulator.

You have to have bought the Mirror Match Combat set from the gold winning terminal.
So choose that under enemies, choose a map, and some squad members and fight.

I chose to use the Wingman map because it's open and easy to maneuver in. I also chose to turn on the Player Damage Boost score modifier to make the match a bit easier.

Squad members chosen were Liara and Garrus. Liara for her biotics and Garrus because I just like Garrus. As I was an Engineer, I threw out a lot of Combat Drones and Sentry Turrets. As for weapons, M-7 Lancer is great because of unlimited ammo.

The simulator Shepards' can be a bit annoying because they like to spam their attacks and run up to you. Try to avoid them and find good cover; their biotics and powers are pretty damaging as they cause staggering and can make you vunerable, even on narrative.

Go through the waves and once you hit the last one or two enemies, bring the combat difficulty up to normal and finish the simulator. Trophy should pop as you load into the arena lobby.

In order to unlock Spectre-level opponents, you'll need to earn a gold prize in the Arena. You'll need to get over 6000 points in one match. Once you do, go to the gold rewards booth and unlock Mirror Match. When you go down to the simulator computer, select N7 enemies. Everything else can be set at random or whatever you want to choose. For the squadmates, I decided that three tanks are better than one, so I brought in Wrex and Grunt. You will need them for this challenge. Why is it a challenge? Because you're facing multiple Shepards of different classes at the same time.

Fortunately, there's a fairly easy way to do this. Play on Casual or Narrative all the way until the very last enemy in the last round. When there is one left, pause and increase the difficulty to Normal, Hardcore, or Insanity. Even with playing on the lowest difficulty, the Spectre-level enemies are still pretty tough, so be prepared for a challenge. When there is one enemy left, there will be a a red diamond on them showing you where they are.

Round 1 - Soldiers, Engineers, and Adepts
Round 2 - Vanguards, Infiltrators, and Sentinels
Round 3 - Adepts, Sentinels, Soldiers and Adepts

To unlock this achievement, you need to earn a gold level token, by scoring quite high in a match. After you have acquired one, you need to spend it on 'Mirror Match Combat Set' from the gold level token store.

When you have done this, you will need to set these as your enemy in a match and defeat them on normal or higher difficulty and the achievement is yours.

*Note, if you are struggling with this achievement, you can play the match on casual/narrative difficulty, then when there is only 1 enemy left, switch the difficulty back to normal and kill the last enemy and you will still get credit for completing it on normal.

Create a game against Shepard in Combat Simulator mode. And pass on normal difficulty level. Moreover, there is a trick - play the match at the Narration level, and when there is only 1 enemy left (Shepard), change it back to normal. And that's it.

You need to buy the “Double” combat set for a gold token.

  • don’t forget that you can’t change the difficulty if you go for platinum for a series on the Madness difficulty (or leave the save for later and go through on normal)
  • In madness I mastered the 20th attempt: partners with overloaded shields, armor-piercing/warp cartridges and anti-armor skills (warp can be upgraded for additional damage and weakening of armor)
  • It’s better to kill one at a time: remove the shield, use skills against armor and focus damage on your partners and your own
  • It’s better to keep your distance and change covers, because the Shepards will shoot you with abilities and throw grenades at you
  • I have to go

Armax Arsenal Arena on the Silversun Strip. Citadel. You need to buy a double set for a gold token, if you can’t get points for a gold token, buy modifiers that add bonus points for silver tokens, also an Elite set so that your opponents are stronger, with modifiers and elite opponents you can score a gold token in 1 try
