How to unlock the Driven achievement in Mass Effect 3 - Definitive Guide
This is a story-based achievement and can not be missed. It happens toward the end of your initial battle on earth, which also serves as the game's tutorial.
*****SPOILERS BELOW*****
Just before leaving Earth, Shepard hops onto the Normandy and waits for Admiral Anderson to join him. Anderson says he won't go, and tosses Shepard his dog tags, reinstating him as a member of the Alliance Navy. The achievement should pop either as soon as this happens, or directly after the cutscene, I've heard people say they experienced both.

Obtained: After completing the mission Priority: Earth.
Story related. If you want more info, continue reading. Otherwise, know that this will unlock through the natural progression of the story.
Mission – Prologue: Earth
Acquisition - Automatic
This will occur at the end of the invasion of Earth. Once you fight through the Reaper invasion that includes fighting husks (indoctrinated humans) and cannibals (indoctrinated batarians), you’ll make it to the Normandy. Once you’re on board, Anderson will give you back your dog tags. This trophy will unlock after a short conversation with Admiral Hackett.
Insanity Tips:
- The cannibals will be your biggest problem in this level, but even they aren’t bad. They’re tough bastards, but using combinations of your powers will bring them down quick enough.
