How to unlock the Executioner achievement in Mass Effect 3 - Definitive Guide

Spoilers!

This achievement is for defeating Kai Leng after you attack Cerberus headquarters. It is part of the main quest so you cannot miss it because you need to go there in order to get a certain item. Once you enter the illusive mans room Kai Leng will appear and you just need to beat him in order to get the achievement.

My playthru was an adept....I took Edi (because I didn't have a choice) and Liara...lots of biotics...and interestingly enough I meleed the crap out Kai Leng (that definitely knocked him down in terms of shields)...felt good and I defeated him. LOL. Liara was most helpful for her stasis power which froze those pesky Phantoms and nemesis snipers - that help to make very short and quick work of them.

He is a bit of a pain to kill, but take lots of biotics with you to hammer away at his shields. I brought Garrus and EDI, and just kept smacking him with overload etc to get rid of the shield. Once it eventually goes just shoot the hell out of him til he drops. you will have more challenge keeping out of the way of the countless other cerberus enemies. You need to be quick though as his shields regen.

Just semantics, but I think you mean Tech/Engineers. Overload is a tech ability and works great on shields, but Biotic abilities are good against barriers or armor but not shields.

Mission – Priority: Cerberus Headquarters
Acquisition - Automatic after leaving Horizon.

Point of No Return Warning

This mission is the point of no return. Once you begin the mission, there’s no turning back or further exploration. This mission will be available immediately following Horizon. Other than the boss battle, it’s not too hard.

Insanity Tips:

  • You are required to take EDI on this mission. Unless you are an infiltrator and have sabotage, take Tali. The hacking ability will be invaluable when it comes time to deal with the turrets.
  • Worry about the atlas first. The nemesis will stay in it’s perch for as long as the fight goes on. Kill her last. With EDI, you’ll have incinerate to help take down the atlases.
  • In the tunnels is where the hacking becomes vital. Combat engineers will set up numerous turrets to slow you down. Destroy the shield pylons and then hack the turrets.
  • Kai Leng is an awful, awful boss battle. When you get his shields down halfway, he’ll run away to recharge them and then call down four assault troops. Get his health three quarters down and he’ll call in four assault troops and a nemesis. Again, you get his shields down to one bar and he’ll call in two phantoms. Oh, and there are no checkpoints for this part. His tactics include jumping around for no apparent reason, running away, and using a biotic sweep that wipes out your shields. Once you get his shields down, his health goes down quickly. Use when the renegade prompt pops up to finish the job.
