How to unlock the Data Mining achievement in Mass Effect: Andromeda - Definitive Guide

Data Mining Achievement/Trophy

Very simple achievement/trophy to earn and will be one of your first if you are the type to explore. By pressing cn_down on your controller you will open the scan tool which will allow you to learn more information on pretty much anything along with gathering resources.

You will want to scan items that appear as orange.

As pointed out by "retired bob" man gets a shoutout, make sure you press cn_A when scanning.

Definitely comes naturally, but to speed this up, scan each of the pylons on Eos. They all count as unique scans. My achievement popped as I did the loop around the outpost.

I can confirm that the counter is across all playthroughs. If you scan everything before reaching the Nexus and then starting a new game you could get this to pop the second or third time through.

This trophy is unlocked by pressing cn_down on your controller to bring up the scan tool. You need to make sure that the scanner is pointed at items that appear highlighted as orange and scan them with cn_X.

This should come pretty quickly if you're walking around with the scanner open and exploring the areas.

As you are playing through the campaign, press Down on the D-pad to use your scan tool. Anything that turns orange can be scanned. Press to do so, and continue doing so until you hit 100 objects. Doing this will also give you resources, so it's a good idea to continue doing it even after unlocking the achievement.

Get it in the first 3-4 hours of playing if you pay attention and scan everything you see.
Research points are needed to craft powerful weapons and armor; I advise those who have just started to carry a scanner more often.

To get the achievement, scan objects with your scanner, which can be activated by clicking .
It comes out quickly if you don’t forget about the scanner and frequently scan new opponents and new objects.
