How to unlock the Death from Above achievement in Mass Effect: Andromeda - Definitive Guide
I made a video on where I farmed for this achievement in like 20 minutes on Eos! Enjoy!
TIPS:
- You don't have to deal 100% damage to target while in mid-air. Only killing shot is required to be delivered while hovering.
- I suggest doing this on one of the lowest difficulties. You are perfect target for enemies while hovering and they can kill you in no time if you play on Insanity.
- Try to command your squad away from enemies using and . Only Ryder's last hits counts towards this achievement so prevent them from stealing it.
- If you want this achievement fast, try to save before engaging large group of enemies. Like in every other Mass Effect game, progress for cumulative achievements is saved on your profile. Just keep killing and reloading game until you're done.
EDIT:
- There is a way to extend your hovering time by investing your skill points in some passive skills ranks in the combat skill tree. (I don't know the names of skills in english, so if you can share in comments i will be grateful and add those names here).
- As pointed by Cro11 in the comments (Thanks for that!) you can farm this achievement on small wildlife as they are spawning all the time and have low HP. It makes it easier to earn this one on higher difficulties. Check video posted by Erwo the Elder showing this down below. (Thanks for sharing!)
You only need to land the killing blow while hovering, so feel free to damage the enemies as much as you want prior to hovering and killing them off.
To hover, you will need to Jump and then hold (by default, this can be changed) to engage your jetpack. While hovering, finish off an enemy with your weapons or powers (I've been using concussive shot). You can weaken the enemy while on the ground first if you need to, only the killing blow must come while hovering. This must be done in SP.
This trophy can only be earned in single player mode. To hover, hit to jump and once Ryder is in the air, press and hold to stay hovering above the ground for a few seconds. While you are hovering you are able to continue firing at enemies. After the 100th enemy kill, the trophy will unlock. You should get over 100 kills throughout your playthrough of the story.
For an easier time, you can change the difficulty in the options menu to the easiest difficulty (Narrative mode) and get your 100 kills quick. Using assault rifles with the electrical conduit augmentation or the augmentation turning bullets into grenades are recommended to help kills enemies real quick.
From the settlement where we are first dropped off on Eos, there is a road that rises to the plateau and then goes to the structure of the relics. It’s on this plateau (there’s also a memory activator there) and you can stuff bugs while floating. They constantly respawn there, just run along this plateau. It is advisable to do this after cleaning Eos from radiation so as not to have problems with the life support system.
