How to unlock the Teamwork achievement in Mass Effect: Andromeda - Definitive Guide

I'm putting this here because the other solution is a little bit misleading. To get assist medals in a game, you don't need to place 3rd or above in the match, you only need to get a certain amount of assist points. For bronze you need 250 assist points, silver is 500 and gold is 1000. This comes straight from the guide book.

Now, to get assist points, do NOT simply shoot enemies and let your teammates kill them. This gives you DAMAGE points, not ASSIST points. The easiest and fastest way I've found to get assist points is to use the Human Sentinel. Upgrade that push ability and start pushing people around. Any time you use push on an enemy, it doesn't matter how they die, you can kill them yourself, and you'll still ASSIST points. The further you upgrade it, and the more damage it does, the more points you get. It should also be noted that in order for it to work, you need to take down an enemies shields, and it does not work on armored enemies. Larger enemies also grant more points. If you're playing against Kett, the ascendant s can grant up to 250 assist points a pop if you push them every time their orb is destroyed. That's an automatic bronze right there! I'm currently at 20 assist medals so I'll have this shortly myself. Happy hunting!

NOTE: Bandannaboy mentioned a helpful tip that I forgot to put in. If you get a silver or gold assist medal in a game, that counts as 2 and 3 medals, so if you were to get gold medals in all of your games, you could have it done in as quick as 9 nine games.

Thanks for the input :) I decided to leave out the bit about the kineticist though ONLY because it requires an amount of luck to get her, where as the Sentinel is available right off the bat

The Human Engineer is also a good choice - two of the three powers are capable of priming enemies.

Singleplayer: do all side quests, get to level 57 (85 hours?), by then you should have done enough APEX team sendings to recruit your 5th and 6th team.

Asari Adept a combination by using Annihilation+ Throw = instant assists. This worked best for me. Important notes with Annihilation choose radius.

Great guide except Human Sentinels do not have the Push ability, they have the throw ability which is a detonation power, not a priming power. I think you meant to say the Human Adept, because they have the Push ability as well as Singularity, both of which are priming powers. Human Adepts are the only starting humans with the Pull ability. Thanks for the solution!

I specifically didn't put that option because first, it has issues unlocking the achievement, and second, it takes much longer than the assists. But it's all good, I'll take the down vote

A quick way I finished this up was to create a private game and play by myself on Bronze difficulty until I got a gold assist medal and then die on purpose, since the medal still counts if you die. If you get an assist on almost every enemy, you can easily get the gold medal by round 3, about 8 minutes into the game. This is waaaaayyy quicker than trying to get the medals in a public lobby.

In case anyone was wondering, 2 years later and I still couldn't unlock this by creating a 6th strike team. I just unlocked it by playing public matches, it only took about two hours.

I tried the strike team option whilst playing the game, ended up redoing all 6 from scratch twice and it still wouldn't unlock. Spent about 2 1/2 hours in public matches with the Sentinel and it unlocked no problem

I am working on the six teams. Didn't read this before so I guess that won't work. This game is so buggy on one, I have like six left and none of them are tracking. One team to go on strike teams. Note the points to buy a team cost more each time, so I am grinding no for another 15 points. My internet was disconnected and I have read that causes issues, but the mp stuff crosses over to a new game. Guess I should have reinstalled idk

If you go the strike team route, start the process as soon as the option becomes available. I didn't begin until I was 95% done with the single player campaign and had to babysit this stupid process for days with nothing else to do in the game. And if you're going the APEX route, it's the Sentinel's Throw ability. There is no Push.

Worked as intended for me. I used the app alot, but when I had enough credits (200) to buy the 6th team I launched the game, waited for the online status symbol, went to multiplayer -> strike teams, recruited a team and the achievement popped. Bravo, my original team is still active.

Doing Multiplayer is by far the easiest way. Took me around 3 hours. Just use a Human Adept, spam pull and let the high rank players flex their e-peens. Way quicker than the strike team route. MP as of Dec '22 is still populated, no issues getting a full game.

Just thought id throw this in to help out or whatnot. The points required for each assist interval is all good, but for each next level you get, counts for another assist medal. So, if you get bronze, thats 1 medal. Silver is 2, and gold is 3. You can get up to 3 assists per gameif you reach gold level. And as for character(s) to use, anything with stuff that can prime should work. I used the human kineticist and got it in 9 games

**Updated**

You have two ways you can earn this achievement; there is no combined count factor here. I'll review both ways you can earn the achievement.

Option 1: Recruit 6 strike teams. This is easily the more time consuming option of the two; however it doesn't take much effort. In the multiplayer menu, visit "Strike Teams". Here you can recruit a team that you can send out on missions and upon success, they'll earn campaign items for your Pathfinder.
It is recommended that you download the "Apex HQ" application on your smart phone. It is a free app that you can link to your Xbox account. From here you can send your Strike Teams on missions from anywhere. Missions take real time to complete.

Your first strike team is "free"; so 5 to go. You'll need 40 "Mission Funds" to recruit your second team. You can earn "Mission Funds" by either completing Apex missions yourself, or by your Strike Team successfully completing missions.
After that, the amount of Mission funds required to recruit a new strike team increases by 40. In the end, you'll need a total of 600 Mission Funds to recruit 6 teams. The amount needed by team is as follows: 0, 40, 80, 120, 160, 200.

If you're in no rush and don't want to play the multiplayer at all, keep recruiting teams and sending those teams out on missions. They'll earn Mission Funds for each successful mission they complete. You'll earn more Mission Funds depending on the difficulty of the strike.
It is recommended that when you're ready to recruit your 6th team for the achievement; that you do it in game and not via the app.

**Update** It has been suggested by a few gamers that you may have to delete the original team you start with; and then recruit your 6th team to unlock the achievement. I did not run into this issue, but for those having trouble it is worth a try.

Option 2: Earn 25 assist medals in multiplayer. This is probably quickest option; but it will require some effort. You earn assist medals based on "assist points (AP)" earned in the match. 250 AP is a bronze medal, 500 AP for silver and 1000 AP for a gold medal. I personally used an Adept and got assist points like crazy.
Also, each medal is worth more points towards your total of 25. A bronze medal is worth 1, silver is worth 2 and a gold medal is worth 3 assist medals. Once you earn 25 medals, of Bronze or higher, you'll unlock the achievement. You can do this in as little as 9 matches if you earn all gold medals.

I didn't need 6 teams at once.
I bought the 2nd team for 40 mission funds and deleted it again (didn't know about the achievement).
Then I restarted getting 6 teams. The achievement popped after I bought my 5th team. So the 1st team I bought and sold seems to count.
I also recruited all teams ingame.

This is how I got it. I started the first strike team mission on the console. Then went on the app untill I got all 6 of them. No achievement. I then retired one of them and bought another one on the console. No achievement. I them retired all of them except the one I just bought on the console and worked my way till all 6 bought on the console. When I went to the "prestige" menu afterwards, I got the achievement.

From what I experienced, I believe I might have found the problem with the strike teams method. The first team you get does not seem to count, and it doesn't seem to be unlocked until you replace that team.

I hired far more than six using the game, not the app, and it would never pop. I saved enough mission funds to replace every team, including the team I started with. It didn't pop right away, but after going back into the multiplayer menu it popped.

If I weren't so pessimistic about it counting, I would have replaced only the team I started with to see if that would work.

I just got this by staying on the Tempest and keeping the game running throughout the day. I retired one of my strike teams thinking I could get my points back and recruit another team. Dumb I know but instead of having to get 200 mission funds for the last one, I bought my 5th (technically 6th after the retirement) for 160 and the achievement popped. It makes me wonder that after you bought your first for 40, you could retire it, and keep rebuying for 40 mission funds until you bought enough for the achievement to pop. Not a big deal these days but maybe some new player could test it after reading this. Never tried in multiplayer as it's non-existent.

The easiest way to get Assist medals by far is to play as a Human Adept, which is unlocked from the start. This class has 2 abilities - Pull and Singularity - which can be used to quickly rack up assist points. You get assist points every time you use either of these abilities on an enemy before killing it. If you use both Pull and Singularity, the assist points will stack.

I played on bronze maps and I found it easy to get gold assist medals by spamming Pull and Singularity. I was getting gold medals well before getting to wave 7. Getting gold counts as 3 separate medals, so you only need to get gold in a maximum of 9 matches. I have the PS4 version of the game, but the method is exactly the same for the Xbox One version.

This is by far the quickest/easiest method for unlocking this achievement. It didn't unlock for me after I had acquired 6 Strike Teams on two occasions. I decided to attempt to get the achievement via multiplayer and it popped when it was supposed to.

With this method I was able to get Gold Assist Medals in around 5-7 minutes. I did this by playing private matches on Bronze difficulty. I had the enemy type set as Outlaw. Also, I chose to do it on the map called Firebase Zero but you can do it on any map.

Select the character Human Adept, you need the pull and singularity abilities.

Now, find yourself a position with good cover and let the enemies come to you. Use Pull or Singularity and kill each enemy as they are affected by the ability/when they are floating. This will give you points towards assist medals. Keep doing this for every enemy and you will get a gold medal in around 7 minutes, I was able to get it in just over 5 minutes once or twice. As soon as you see the gold medal appear, let yourself die as it still counts!

Gold assist medals count as 3 assist medals so to get 25 you'll have to play 9 matches or 8 matches with a gold medal and 1 with a bronze.

Doing this I was able to get the achievement in less than an hour!

Attempting this achievement via the Strike Team method is a waste of time. It takes days or even weeks and likely won't even unlock. Don't bother, just do this instead.

Hope that helps!

This trophy can be done in single player or multiplayer. It is recommended that you earn this trophy in multiplayer, as it is extremely time-consuming in single player.

In Single Player:

You have to create 6 strike teams. You start out with one team and need to buy the other 5 teams. You need mission funds to buy these teams, and can only be earned by deploying strike teams on missions. You only earn 5 - 10 mission funds every time a team succeeds on a mission, which could last anywhere from 2 - 4 hours. The last team needs 200 mission credits. This could take a long time just for this one trophy.

In Multiplayer:

You have to earn assist medals in coop extraction matches. This is really simple when using the Adept multiplayer character, as he/she has access to Pull and Singularity. Just keep spamming Pull and Singularity on enemies to make them float in the air. Killing them while they are floating gets you tons of assist points. You should be getting assist medals really quickly. You can only earn 3 assist medal (Bronze, Silver, and Gold) in one match. Meaning you can get the 25 assist medals within 3 - 4 hours, which is almost the same time it takes for you to get 5 - 20 mission funds by sending Strike teams on missions. So stick with this method in multiplayer to get this trophy quickly without the boring grind.

Teamwork Video Guide (Multiplayer Assist Medals):

Thanks to MAN3282 from PSN - For giving the tip on using the Pull and Singularity skill from Adept characters in multiplayer to get the assist medals quickly.

I would strongly recommend going for this in the multiplayer.

Create six strike teams

In the single player side, you can go to your Strike Teams section from the middle desk on your ship. Then into Teams and recruit new teams using Mission Funds. You only get 5 or 10 mission funds on each successful trip you send your strike team on, and you would need 600 mission funds (40, 80, 120, 160, 200) to get your 6th team. Considering it is around 1-4 hours per strike mission, that is a lot of time spent just gathering the resources. You can only gain mission funds by playing multiplayer matches, however if you are doing that, it would make a lot more sense getting the 25 assist medals.

Earn 25 assist medals in multiplayer mode

You can get a maximum of three medals per game (Bronze, Silver, Gold). Assist is a poor name for the medal as it is really a combo. You can't obtain this by shooting an enemy and letting a teammate finish them. You actually need to perform a combo using an ability and either another ability or shooting the enemy to get Assist points.

Adept is by far the best character type to obtain this. They have Pull and Singularity powers which can both be used for assists. Simply fire either pull or singularity at an unshielded / unarmoured enemy and then shoot them dead for assist points. After you build enough points up, you will gain a medal. Repeat throughout the match and you will get the other 2 medals as well.

Once you have the ability on an enemy, either you or your teammates doing damage will count for gaining points. So you can even work on this solo.

Note that I did find you can get assist points from armoured enemies when using Singularity on them, they just won't float or be affected by the power being there.

Once you have reached the 25 medals, you have to finish the match for it to award you the medal and give you the trophy. This also means you can't farm the medals by quitting as soon as you earn them. You must get to the end. If you are playing solo, you could get yourself killed to end the match and gain the medals if you wish.

This achievement can be done in one of two ways. To create six strike teams, you will need a total of 600 credits by completing strike missions. You start with one team, the second costs 40 credits, and each subsequent team costs 40 more than the last. Once you have earned enough credits for your next team, get them right away and send them out on missions. The more teams doing missions, the more credits you will earn. Your initial 2-3 teams will eventually upgrade to Silver missions, then the new ones can take over Bronze, and so on. Once you have six teams recruited this will unlock.

NOTE: You can recruit teams inside the "Apex HQ" mobile app. I would suggest waiting to recruit your sixth team until you are in-game. I am unsure if doing it inside the app could mess things up. If you recruit your sixth in the app and the achievement does not unlock when you boot up the game, try retiring one and then hiring a new sixth team in-game (this will set you back a few days though as you'll need to get another 200 credits).

If you would prefer to play the MP matches out, you will need to "debuff" enemies as much as possible to get assist medals. The assist medals are weird in that they don't count as a normal assist (where you damaged an enemy but didn't kill them). The amount of debuffing done determines what level of assist medal you get (bronze, silver, or gold - though I don't know how much debuffing each requires). Everyone on the team can get an assist medal in each match, so just keep using powers each time you play. You should easily get one each match.

It is irrational to create 6 squads. I only have 2 and even they are often idle, because... there are no tasks, and finances are needed to purchase equipment modifiers in the item store.
It's easier to get 25 medals for helping. Take for example the asari adept with Havoc. The skill will serve as an activator for combo links: allies attack targets hit by your field - you get points for helping.

While you complete the “talent” trophy (pump up your squad to level 20), you will easily accumulate points to create 6 shock troops. There's no point in bothering with medals.

By HeavyCrash on 19 Jul 2017 00:12
If you feel that the end of the game is already close, and your shock troops do not number 6, then feel free to go into the network game and get 25 medals. As mentioned in the tips above, it is much faster and easier. It took me about 4 hours to get the medals, taking into account the fact that I didn’t purposefully farm them.

If you bought the 6th squad in the application, don’t be upset, if you don’t want to receive 25 medals, then save up about max 700 currency for 6 squads, disband already IN THE GAME on the console and buy all 6 squads.

By ATheiST_52rus on 17 Jan 2020 07:47
If you nevertheless took the 6th squad through the application, disbanding one squad and gaining 200 points again will not help, the trophy will also not fall out when hiring a squad from the game, the only way out is to receive medals in multiplayer

In addition to the tip from comrade Dezintegration, I would like to say that to farm medals you can take not only asari with “Extermination”, but also other adepts with “Thrust” and “Singularity”. I also want to note that it is not at all necessary to resort to the help of party members, because in order to receive “Help” experience points, which form the medal, it is quite enough to hit the enemy with “Thrust” and shoot him yourself. Using "Travel" and "Singularity" I was able to get, on average, a gold medal of "assistance" in one match, which is essentially equal to 3 medals (bronze + silver + gold). I would also note that "Traft" is only appropriate to use on enemies without a shield, but sometimes it’s not a sin to launch “Singularity” at large enemies, like “Destroyers”, “Nullifiers”, “Hydra”, etc. Even if the effect of the skill stops and your comrades finish off these enemies, there is a high probability that you will still receive a generous amount of "help" points

When I played on normal difficulty with the prospect of platinum, I pumped my character up to level 65, but somehow missed the shock troops and the maximum squad level was 16, and the number of squads was 5.

I had to download the application for Android from the play market and poke around in it for 4 days to get two treasured trophies... (I REMIND YOU THAT HIRE THE 6TH SQUAD AND ACCEPT A REPORT ON THE COMPLETION OF THE TASK BY THE LEVEL 19 SQUAD BEFORE THE LEVEL SHOULD INCREASE TO 20- It NEEDS ON THE CONSOLE).

So that’s what I’m getting at, it turns out that when you replay the game in GAME+ mode on MADNESS to get the UNSTOPPABLE trophy, the statistics on shock troops are not reset, but saved. Accordingly, you continue from the progress where you left off.

Using the APEX HQ app makes obtaining a trophy much easier and faster: you just need to periodically log into it and send squads on missions/collect reports and rewards.
The only important point is the fact that when you want to fulfill the final condition for receiving a trophy (in this case, creating the 6th squad) do it in the game , not in the application!.
