How to unlock the Hang Time achievement in Mass Effect: Andromeda - Definitive Guide

I do not take credit for this video, I found it and thought that I should share it. The other solution was not working out for me, and I tried this one and got it with the first try.

Edit 04/08/2017: I noticed a few things were unclear in the video, and people have commented a few tips.

"You need to hold the left stick backwards when in air, or you won't gain height when boosting/jumping."

"It's important to not waste the boost on the run up so when you jump you can boost a bit higher and then mash the buttons for a wee bit boost and then a wee bit more jump."

"another thing that isn't mentioned is you MUST HOLD THE GAS PEDAL DOWN while you're in mid air. So its jump off cliff, hold the left stick back, hold the gas button down, and quickly press X/A."

Thank you Labtoy, SuperAwesomez, and The Schwartz 00 for pointing these out.

Worked first shot. Didn't have improved suspension but managed the hill just fine in normal mode. Cheers!

This solution should be #1... you don't have to worry about getting a random extra bump, took me 2 tries because I mismanaged my button pressing...oops

Just adding an important note:

@thomaskorat did you jump right before the ledge? I found that to be integral to getting this, because it gives you extra time and distance.

As labtoy mentioned pulling back on left stick is critical to getting this to work. Got it first try once I worked that out.

Where do you get the Nomad upgrades? I've been ignoring the vendors the whole way through this game.

Nomad can be upgraded from the Research & Develop Center on the Tempest or other outposts.

Can anyone advice if the "improved boost" upgrade is available only according to the possessed resources or later in the game? I am asking since I can't see it in my options :-)

Very helpful, but I will say I found it easier to just take my thumb and smash on both X and A together as fast as possible rather than trying to alternate as the video suggests.

What does X/A do? You can't hold "reverse"(I assume that's what holding left thumbstick back means) and boost on PC.

my nomand stats are 230% boost, vertical thrust is 40% and 4WD is at 20% is that correct the reason is in the video the guy is doing over 150 as he goes off cliff I can barly get it about 110 before i start losing speed

After reaching Kadara, you will be able to travel to the Remav System in the Heleus Cluster. You can land in the H-047c debris field. There are a couple of quests that will lead take you here - “A New World” and “Means and Ends” for Vetra Max.

I endorse what Ashen Seraph and Cernunnos295 noted about mashing X and A at the same time. When I alternated them I always steeply lost altitude about 10 seconds in. Mashing them together kept me above the canyon's rim for most of the run. As a side note, achievements that make you scour the entire game for the one place they can be done are crap. And this achievement is especially crappy.

Same as above. If I alternated X and A I dropped like a stone. Hold the gas and hit them simultaneously as fast as you can.

I found this way to be much, much easier than the previous guide only took me two or three shots and I got it. It's important to not waste the boost on the run up so when you jump you can boost a bit higher and then mash the buttons for a wee bit boost and then a wee bit more jump.

another thing that isn't mentioned is you MUST HOLD THE GAS PEDAL DOWN while you're in mid air. So its jump off cliff, hold the left stick back, hold the gas button down, and quickly press X/A. I tried it several times to no avail, but when I checked the YouTube comments someone mentioned it and I got it my first try after that. Thumbs up.

Planet: H-047c

Nomad Upgrades:
Improved Suspension 4x4
Supercharged Boost
Vertical Thrust Upgrade

This Cheevo is a bit annoying because it relies partially on getting a lucky bounce. Go to the location shown in the screenshot above(South East of the Tempest on the map, right at the maps edge). Once there, drive North towards the Mining Cluster Icon and aim for the rocky ramp area and launch yourself. That's the best I can describe it really in text, check the video out for a more detailed explanation.

Thanks for doing all the leg work for us man! I'm not even to this planet yet but can't wait to give it a shot once I get there.
And yea, achievements that are tough but hardly worth anything are really annoying.

I saved once I had the Nomad in position to take the run; I find reloading after a failed attempt to be much less frustrating than driving back.

I did mine in the same location except the opposite direction. I went towards the big domes as there is more area to work with and don't have to worry about the end of map barriers. Just tap and spam the hell out of x and a. Holding back the stick. I was easily able to get another 40 seconds of air time doing this.

Hey, so if your whole goal was to show us an example of how you got the achievement.... why'd you bother with the first few minutes where you didn't achieve anything?? Like I'm not trying to be rude I'm just trying to figure what your goal was.

Also your video was incredibly vague. I didn't even know where to begin or where to go based on what you said. All I want is solid coordinates and specifics as to what to do.

40 goddamn tries later and I still don't have this fucking achievement. Seriously, who the fuck thought this was a good idea for an achievement? Probably the same person who did the game animations... Good to know the rest of Humanity and the other races are depending on me for their survival in a new galaxy, but I'm off spending an hour trying to ramp off rocks in an asteroid field.

Easiest spot I have found yet! Helps that the planet is low gravity! And I even don't make it super far but it was still enough to get the achievement. See description of video for info on what to do for best results! Happy hunting!

This achievement must be done on H-047C. This is a low-gravity moon which will allow the Nomad to float for a while before landing. You can do this without any upgrades, but it is made much easier with the Improved Suspension, Supercharged Boost, and Vertical Thrust Upgrades (these need to be researched and developed). It is easiest to explain where to go in video format, so watch this clip to find a large chasm to jump into. As you are floating over the chasm, quickly alternate boost () and jump () to help your vehicle gain more air time. With the upgrades, you'll easily get over 50 seconds. Without any, you'll be right at 35 seconds but it is doable. Save prior to driving at the edge just in case you don't get it.

This trophy can only be earned in single player.

You can only attempt to earn his trophy on the asteroid H-047c in the Remav cluster. Once inside there is low gravity allowing you to float and hover for a longer period of time.

You don't need any Nomad upgrades to get this trophy, but having the Improved Thrust and Improved Boost upgrades makes this trophy a lot easier.

Head to the location shown in the video, and drive off the ledge at full speed. Now tilt and tap the boost button () 4-5 times and quickly press to hover higher. Now boost 3-4 times and as soon as the hover ability recharges press it again. Repeat this and navigate the Nomad through the canyon, till you hit a wall or get automatically respawned. You should eventually be able to unlock the trophy after a couple tries. It's important to drive off the edge at the right angle to make sure you don't hit the side walls too early.

You need to make 3 upgrades for the “nomad”. Namely: improved traction, improved acceleration and improved suspension. Then fly to planet "H047-C" and try to do it as in the video guide .

For those playing on PC, this trophy can only be obtained using a Gamepad . Since using the keyboard it is impossible to lift the nose of the Nomad up, and this is the main condition in order to stay in the air for so long.
