How to unlock the Teamwork achievement in Mass Effect: Andromeda - Definitive Guide
Now, to get assist points, do NOT simply shoot enemies and let your teammates kill them. This gives you DAMAGE points, not ASSIST points. The easiest and fastest way I've found to get assist points is to use the Human Sentinel. Upgrade that push ability and start pushing people around. Any time you use push on an enemy, it doesn't matter how they die, you can kill them yourself, and you'll still ASSIST points. The further you upgrade it, and the more damage it does, the more points you get. It should also be noted that in order for it to work, you need to take down an enemies shields, and it does not work on armored enemies. Larger enemies also grant more points. If you're playing against Kett, the ascendant s can grant up to 250 assist points a pop if you push them every time their orb is destroyed. That's an automatic bronze right there! I'm currently at 20 assist medals so I'll have this shortly myself. Happy hunting!
NOTE: Bandannaboy mentioned a helpful tip that I forgot to put in. If you get a silver or gold assist medal in a game, that counts as 2 and 3 medals, so if you were to get gold medals in all of your games, you could have it done in as quick as 9 nine games.
You have two ways you can earn this achievement; there is no combined count factor here. I'll review both ways you can earn the achievement.
Option 1: Recruit 6 strike teams. This is easily the more time consuming option of the two; however it doesn't take much effort. In the multiplayer menu, visit "Strike Teams". Here you can recruit a team that you can send out on missions and upon success, they'll earn campaign items for your Pathfinder.
It is recommended that you download the "Apex HQ" application on your smart phone. It is a free app that you can link to your Xbox account. From here you can send your Strike Teams on missions from anywhere. Missions take real time to complete.
Your first strike team is "free"; so 5 to go. You'll need 40 "Mission Funds" to recruit your second team. You can earn "Mission Funds" by either completing Apex missions yourself, or by your Strike Team successfully completing missions.
After that, the amount of Mission funds required to recruit a new strike team increases by 40. In the end, you'll need a total of 600 Mission Funds to recruit 6 teams. The amount needed by team is as follows: 0, 40, 80, 120, 160, 200.
If you're in no rush and don't want to play the multiplayer at all, keep recruiting teams and sending those teams out on missions. They'll earn Mission Funds for each successful mission they complete. You'll earn more Mission Funds depending on the difficulty of the strike.
It is recommended that when you're ready to recruit your 6th team for the achievement; that you do it in game and not via the app.
**Update** It has been suggested by a few gamers that you may have to delete the original team you start with; and then recruit your 6th team to unlock the achievement. I did not run into this issue, but for those having trouble it is worth a try.
Option 2: Earn 25 assist medals in multiplayer. This is probably quickest option; but it will require some effort. You earn assist medals based on "assist points (AP)" earned in the match. 250 AP is a bronze medal, 500 AP for silver and 1000 AP for a gold medal. I personally used an Adept and got assist points like crazy.
Also, each medal is worth more points towards your total of 25. A bronze medal is worth 1, silver is worth 2 and a gold medal is worth 3 assist medals. Once you earn 25 medals, of Bronze or higher, you'll unlock the achievement. You can do this in as little as 9 matches if you earn all gold medals.
I played on bronze maps and I found it easy to get gold assist medals by spamming Pull and Singularity. I was getting gold medals well before getting to wave 7. Getting gold counts as 3 separate medals, so you only need to get gold in a maximum of 9 matches. I have the PS4 version of the game, but the method is exactly the same for the Xbox One version.
With this method I was able to get Gold Assist Medals in around 5-7 minutes. I did this by playing private matches on Bronze difficulty. I had the enemy type set as Outlaw. Also, I chose to do it on the map called Firebase Zero but you can do it on any map.
Select the character Human Adept, you need the pull and singularity abilities.
Now, find yourself a position with good cover and let the enemies come to you. Use Pull or Singularity and kill each enemy as they are affected by the ability/when they are floating. This will give you points towards assist medals. Keep doing this for every enemy and you will get a gold medal in around 7 minutes, I was able to get it in just over 5 minutes once or twice. As soon as you see the gold medal appear, let yourself die as it still counts!
Gold assist medals count as 3 assist medals so to get 25 you'll have to play 9 matches or 8 matches with a gold medal and 1 with a bronze.
Doing this I was able to get the achievement in less than an hour!
Attempting this achievement via the Strike Team method is a waste of time. It takes days or even weeks and likely won't even unlock. Don't bother, just do this instead.
Hope that helps!
This trophy can be done in single player or multiplayer. It is recommended that you earn this trophy in multiplayer, as it is extremely time-consuming in single player.
In Single Player:
You have to create 6 strike teams. You start out with one team and need to buy the other 5 teams. You need mission funds to buy these teams, and can only be earned by deploying strike teams on missions. You only earn 5 - 10 mission funds every time a team succeeds on a mission, which could last anywhere from 2 - 4 hours. The last team needs 200 mission credits. This could take a long time just for this one trophy.
In Multiplayer:
You have to earn assist medals in coop extraction matches. This is really simple when using the Adept multiplayer character, as he/she has access to Pull and Singularity. Just keep spamming Pull and Singularity on enemies to make them float in the air. Killing them while they are floating gets you tons of assist points. You should be getting assist medals really quickly. You can only earn 3 assist medal (Bronze, Silver, and Gold) in one match. Meaning you can get the 25 assist medals within 3 - 4 hours, which is almost the same time it takes for you to get 5 - 20 mission funds by sending Strike teams on missions. So stick with this method in multiplayer to get this trophy quickly without the boring grind.
Teamwork Video Guide (Multiplayer Assist Medals):
Thanks to MAN3282 from PSN - For giving the tip on using the Pull and Singularity skill from Adept characters in multiplayer to get the assist medals quickly.
Create six strike teams
In the single player side, you can go to your Strike Teams section from the middle desk on your ship. Then into Teams and recruit new teams using Mission Funds. You only get 5 or 10 mission funds on each successful trip you send your strike team on, and you would need 600 mission funds (40, 80, 120, 160, 200) to get your 6th team. Considering it is around 1-4 hours per strike mission, that is a lot of time spent just gathering the resources. You can only gain mission funds by playing multiplayer matches, however if you are doing that, it would make a lot more sense getting the 25 assist medals.
Earn 25 assist medals in multiplayer mode
You can get a maximum of three medals per game (Bronze, Silver, Gold). Assist is a poor name for the medal as it is really a combo. You can't obtain this by shooting an enemy and letting a teammate finish them. You actually need to perform a combo using an ability and either another ability or shooting the enemy to get Assist points.
Adept is by far the best character type to obtain this. They have Pull and Singularity powers which can both be used for assists. Simply fire either pull or singularity at an unshielded / unarmoured enemy and then shoot them dead for assist points. After you build enough points up, you will gain a medal. Repeat throughout the match and you will get the other 2 medals as well.
Once you have the ability on an enemy, either you or your teammates doing damage will count for gaining points. So you can even work on this solo.
Note that I did find you can get assist points from armoured enemies when using Singularity on them, they just won't float or be affected by the power being there.
Once you have reached the 25 medals, you have to finish the match for it to award you the medal and give you the trophy. This also means you can't farm the medals by quitting as soon as you earn them. You must get to the end. If you are playing solo, you could get yourself killed to end the match and gain the medals if you wish.
This achievement can be done in one of two ways. To create six strike teams, you will need a total of 600 credits by completing strike missions. You start with one team, the second costs 40 credits, and each subsequent team costs 40 more than the last. Once you have earned enough credits for your next team, get them right away and send them out on missions. The more teams doing missions, the more credits you will earn. Your initial 2-3 teams will eventually upgrade to Silver missions, then the new ones can take over Bronze, and so on. Once you have six teams recruited this will unlock.
NOTE: You can recruit teams inside the "Apex HQ" mobile app. I would suggest waiting to recruit your sixth team until you are in-game. I am unsure if doing it inside the app could mess things up. If you recruit your sixth in the app and the achievement does not unlock when you boot up the game, try retiring one and then hiring a new sixth team in-game (this will set you back a few days though as you'll need to get another 200 credits).
If you would prefer to play the MP matches out, you will need to "debuff" enemies as much as possible to get assist medals. The assist medals are weird in that they don't count as a normal assist (where you damaged an enemy but didn't kill them). The amount of debuffing done determines what level of assist medal you get (bronze, silver, or gold - though I don't know how much debuffing each requires). Everyone on the team can get an assist medal in each match, so just keep using powers each time you play. You should easily get one each match.
It's easier to get 25 medals for helping. Take for example the asari adept with Havoc. The skill will serve as an activator for combo links: allies attack targets hit by your field - you get points for helping.
The only important point is the fact that when you want to fulfill the final condition for receiving a trophy (in this case, creating the 6th squad) do it in the game , not in the application!.
