How to unlock the AI Hacking Specialist achievement in Mass Effect Legendary Edition - Definitive Guide
After finishing the main story missions on Feros, you should automatically get Assignment UNC: Rogue VI when you return to the Normandy and use the Galaxy Map. It has a minimum level to it (used to be 20 in the original game) before you will receive it so it might not be exactly at this point. Once you have it, this assignment takes place on Luna (the Moon) and requires you to clear out 3 buildings that are full of automated drones that you can hack. Tali has AI Hacking available after spending 7 points in Decryption, so bring her along on this mission making sure you have unlocked Hacking and you can easily knock out some or all 25. If you make a save just before you get into combat with the drones, you can cast AI Hacking and then immediately reload that save and do it again rather than waiting out the cooldown timer to use it again.
As Thragg Avenger pointed out, for it to count you have to see the word Hacked under their name to know it was successful. You also may have to have Advanced AI Hacking although I'm pretty sure I didn't at that time but I could be wrong.

Im doing this mission right now but just can not get a successful hack. I've even put Tali right in front of the turrets and nothing. Any advice?

Might be worth adding to the solution that the hack has to succeed (i.e. it says "Hacked" under the drone's name). For me they were Advanced Drones, meaning I needed Advanced AI Hacking (7 skill points in Hacking) for the attack to succeed.

Once you become a Spectre speak to Rear Admiral Kahoku near the Council platform who asks you to look for his missing team.
Follow this quest through and you end up hunting down a Cerberus Research Team on Binthu in the Yangtze star system.
Once on the planet there are 3 research facilities with two turrets on each, hide the Mako behind one of the Silo's and use AI Hacking on one of the turrets so it attacks the other, once one has been destroyed continue to use it on the surviving turret, it'll twitch a little as it looks for a target to help you but as it can't find one it'll continue to attack you.
Use the Silo as cover and just keep using AI Hacking until it pops.

With the skill points I’d invested the cooldown time for the skill was 35seconds.

Didn't pay much attention to cooldown times... just seemed a decent place to farm the power if you missed out on the turrets early doors on The Citadel.

If you want to get rid of it as early as possible, on your first visit at the Citadel after Eden Prime and when you’re looking for Tali, make a save at the Chora’s Den bar fight but before coming to Fist - simply when all the men are down and after you’re meeting two normal people in the background.
He has two turrets. Simply cast AI Hacking on the right one and reload. Repeat this 25 times.
Also Engineer and Infiltrator have this ability.

i got this today, i was a fair way into the game and i found a place in the "bring down the sky" mission on asteroid X57
go to exodus cluster, asgard system, asteroid X57 and head to the top left of the map to survey station 2, once there after checking the computer 3 drones will attack, i simply hacked them then drove away in the mako to avoid either dying or having squad mates destroy them, waited until ai hacking recharged came back and hacked them again, you could probably do the save file/ reload trick but this worked for me, there is the body of r.montoya nearby which i also checked first, not sure if it matters though
cheers

I use AI hacking on the drones and it's not hacking them to count. Am I doing something wrong?

It doesn't work if you reload your save as soon as the "Hacked" word appears on the robot's health bar. Once it says "Hacked", you have to keep waiting until it stops attacking you and starts attacking the other enemies. To be safe, I also waited until it died or the Hacked effect ended.

I got these achievement on the Lost Module mission on Eletania, with Tali and Wrex as squad mates. By this point ( without having done any main missions yet), she had Advanced AI Hacking ability. This level works on Shock Troopers and Destroyers, but not Juggernauts.
Get to the Pyjak colony that actually has the data module. Once you have the module, head into the connecting tube but do not go back into the main room. Set squad powers to off, so that Tali doesn't use hers forcing you to wait for the cooldown. Save your game.
Head into the main chamber and get ambushed by the geth. There should be two Geth Shock Troopers coming in on your left, instruct her to Hack one off them. Make sure you see the 'orange lines' on it, and check that its name includes the word 'Hacked'. Reload the save and repeat as needed.

AI Hacking is a skill that can be used by the Engineer class, or by Tali. To use a skill, hold and choose it from the wheel for whoever has it unlocked (you may need to invest some skill points to unlock it). This skill is unlocked in the Hacking skill upgrades, and must target a mechanical object such as a turret or a Geth enemy. You will face plenty of Geth during the game, so bring Tali along on missions until this unlocks before you decide to switch her out.
The quest UNC: Rogue VI has quite a few turrets you can hack for this, so you can make a save prior to entering the buildings, hack everything you see (make sure it says "Hacked" under their name) and then reload your save to repeat this process until it unlocks.
