How to unlock the Ghost of the Father achievement in Mass Effect Legendary Edition - Definitive Guide
Loyalty missions are, in general, pretty short and simple. Jacob's is probably the shortest and most simple of them all. It will barely take you 20-30 minutes.
To get the mission, speak to Jacob (after Kelly Chambers tells you Jacob wants to speak to you) in the Armory of the Normandy. He will talk about how his father and his ship, the Hugo Gernsback, disappeared years ago but now a distress call has been made.
Travel to the planet 2175 Aeia in the Rosetta Nebula. The level is straight-forward with only one branch-off when you can step into the wreck of the Hugo Gernsback to listen to some audio logs.
The level has a mix of both human enemies and mechs. Just two characters along the way will give any real information, as something is going on with the rest of the survivors. Continue to move forward through a couple of camps and some enemies. You'll know you're near the end when you reach an alcove with some "Hunters" and a YMIR mech. This is the most challenging section of the level, but there's plenty of cover. Use Overload on the YMIR to wear down the shields and then Warp or Inferno skills and/or ammo on the armor. Try for headshots. Once those enemies are defeated, you will confront the person that let this happen. Deal with that as you please.
