Zaeed is the mercenary. He's found almost right away when you land on Omega. After a quick conversation he'll be part of the squad (You won't get an achievement for recruiting him, like most of the others).
His loyalty mission will be available right away and is in the Ismar Frontier > Faia System > Zorya.

The Paragon path gets more credits. I tried Renegade, and got 15000. Then I tried Paragon and got 30000.

When I review crew status it shows Zaeed as being loyal but I didn’t get this achievement. Seems to be issue with MELE as I didn’t get some others as well.
