How to unlock the Sky High achievement in Mass Effect Legendary Edition - Definitive Guide

Unlike every other "powers" achievements in this collection, this one did not count when using squadmate abilities.

"I can confirm that your squadmates do add to this achievement. I'm playing as a soldier and ordering Liara to use Singularity which is making the in-game counter go up." - Tozi Tiberius (in the comments)
^ This was not the case for me, but worth a try if the counter goes up for you!
__________________________________________
The usable powers (as far as I can tell) are Singularity, Pull, Throw, Lift Grenade, Concussive Shot, Biotic Charge, Lash, and Flare.

Don't worry if your character does not have any abilities to do this. You unlock two by completing one of the DLCs that are required for another achievement.

These powers are Flare & Lash and you aqcuire it by completing the Omega DLC.
This DLC is the one

Upon completing it, you can head down to the medbay in the Normandy and select a "bonus power" to put on your character. By using Flash, basically every kill I got with it was moving the tracker up. As it is an extremely large move, it can kill whole groups of enemies on the low difficulties. Got me through it real quick.

(From what I read on the original Mass Effect 3 guide which I used to get the main list of abilities, Flare and Lash can be really inconsistent. I will personally say that Flare was not for me at least)

Has anyone got this achievement while playing as engineer? Squadmate's powers doesn't seem to work. I tried Singularity, pull, slam (both Javik's and mine as bonus power), lift grenade and even concussive shot and Im still sitting at 0/100...

Thanks for the guide, didn't want to start another playthrough for this.

Good guide.

Flare works really well. On levels 4 - 6 I went for the radius and recharge speed upgrades, on the Sur'Kesh mission alone I got from 0 to 60, got the achievement two side missions later.

I have been using Slam for this and the tracking of it is not moving so presumably it doesn't count for the achievement. Not sure why, it lifts enemies up.

Yep, i did not put it on the list as it does not count. No clue why, but it didn't in the original, i believe, either

I can confirm that your squadmates do add to this achievement. I'm playing as a soldier and ordering Liara to use Singularity which is making the in-game counter go up.

Ohhhh, they didn't count for me at all (specifically tried using that exact same setup). That's fantastic news if it works now

Using squadmates still doesn't work for me, playing as Infiltrator. Maybe it works for classes that don't have biotics/tech?

I played as infiltrator too and using Liara's singularity didn't work for me either. :/ It's probably just a little buggy tbh.

I'm currently playing through as an Infiltrator. Liara's Singularity and Javik's Pull aren't counting for me.

Lash from the Omega DLC is hilarious. Definitely recommend it as it has a very short cooldown, bypasses shields and barriers, and is just a laugh to use.

For me works Javik's Pull + mine Shock shot as Soldier. He lift up enemy and that Shot make it greater. You can also do this way another achievement with combo a bio / tech Powers.

After some testing, it appears the counter will not go up if your character is capable of a lift ability. Same thing for pyromaniac and shield breaker. I am a soldier, and it only went up when i used concussion shot. for pyro, the incendiary ammo ignition works. Shield breaker is something soldiers cant do, it seems that disruptor ammo doesnt count.

^Pyro only requires you to light enemies on fire, the difference is because shield breaker specifically wants you to use the ability Overload. It is the only way for it to work. Just using a companion with Overload works

I'm telling ya. Just use Flare, you need to beat the DLC anyway. It's the best power in the game at lower difficulties

Ok, thanks for the tips. I will try flare or lash once i unlock it.
Edit. Lash works and can be spammed. Im half way done after 1 mission.

Confirmed that Flash does work. Though you have to use it and not your squad member. Also the enemy you use it on has to die from the power for it to count, if they survive it then it doesnt count.

I’m surprised slam doesn’t count as it sends enemies in the air. I unfortunately don’t have any of the listed powers yet and squad members abilities aren’t working for me.

I hadn't realised squad powers didn't contribute to this. Playing Engineer I used Flare from the Omega DLC and just played the Arena matches until this popped in the end.

Currently using my squad mates overload on enemies (even regular ones) and then hitting them with my concussive shot and have 50 lifts completed via the counter.

Just adding using squad powers did NOT work for me. Manually ordered Liara to use singularity a bunch then checked the tracker. Still at zero

When I wrote the guide at least, Slam did not. idk if anything was changed tho (because the game was pretty glitchy)

+1 for this not working with squadmate abilities on my playthrough. Have been spamming Liara's singularity all game and near the end the counter is reading 1/100 for me.

So I tested this out because I was worried about the same thing, I'd just been using Liara. I threw on Lash and jumped into a mission and started using it. In relatively short order I got an update when I hit an even number: 50/100.

It appears that squadmate uses do count, but that they never trigger the on-screen progress update display. This is the first time a Shepard of mine in LE has ever had the capacity to do this (I always play soldiers, and I've never used a bonus power that can do this before just now), so I think its safe to say those were coming from the Singularities. It seems like I should have been higher, though (I've been spamming it from Mars until where I am now: Tuchanka: Turian Platoon, certainly elevating more than 9 or so targets per mission). I'd guess that the squad member uses don't reliably get counted. This may or may not be related to a variety of other bugs I've noticed while spamming this, such as enemies who get stuck laying on the ground after Singularity and never recover, and other enemies whose AI seems to deactivate and leaves them standing behind cover, frozen until Shepard or an ally interact with them in some way.

I just want to confirm after getting the achievement: Squad member uses count. Depending exclusively on squad member uses is not reliable. The number seems to not properly update, and even when it does you will only ever get the in-game progress update when you hit a multiple of 10 from using Shepard's own powers. As mentioned above, I was at 50/100 after playing through around 1/3 of the game attempting to get the achievement. When adding Shepard using Lash to Liara's Singularities, I completed the achievement within 2 missions. I was able to test using primarily Singularity and then use Lash once after 9 enemies had been floated to confirm that the Singularity uses were incrementing the counter. However, depending solely on Liara seems to lead to some counts getting 'lost'. This may or may not relate to the bug I mentioned above where some enemies seem to get 'trapped' in a suspended state and never get back up - they continue to make the voice sounds of enemies that are trapped in Singularity, and lay flat on the ground indefinitely until interacted with (ie you damage them again). I think that the counter on this ability updates not when the effect is applied and the enemy goes airborne but when the effect ends and the enemy is affected by gravity again. Enemies killed while floating seem to update unreliably - I only had 50 more to test with, but some and not all of them counted properly (whether they are disintegrated by effects like fire or leave a corpse may matter here).

In sum, you can do this with squadmembers. You may be better off using Javik than Liara. And you will get it much quicker and more easily if you give Shepard a skill that contributes and use it periodically - you can snap off a couple Lashes until you get another 10/20/30/60 etc update and verify your count is incrementing. But you will get it eventually with squadmembers alone, but it may take multiple playthroughs of constant trying due to how unreliable it seems to be regarding the timing of the updates. Intentionally using Singularity a lot so that you 'remove' the effect and drop enemies back to the ground may help make Singularity more reliable. If you spec her for it, Liara can have a 2.x second cooldown on Singularity (one of her class ability tier 6 options is "+100% Singularity cooldown"). Rapidly placing Singularities that don't overlap so enemies are lifted and dropped would probably work better than using the skill normally and killing elevated enemies. If you're using Incendiary and other ammunitions, you will not reliably be credited for killed airborne enemies.

I found Flare didn't work well at all but Lash was really consistent and I got through it in a couple of missions just by using it as my main power.

Squadmates powers are not tracking for this. I’ve had 2 squad mates I’ve been spamming throw, pull, and singularity with, and my tracker has been at 4/100 for days. Not sure where those 4 came from but tracking seems way off for this

for those using SOLDIER, concussive shot also works for this achievement, i have it full upgraded, don't know if it has to be in a certain LV to work, but it work, i completed by just using this skill

Squad member's pull worked for me, but doesn't anymore. Now it's tracking my concussive shot, but only if the shot triggers some kind of explosion.

I just popped this on Insanity, and I can confirm that Flare worked like a charm. Have Javik put Dark Channel on someone, and then pop it with Flare. If enemies are clumped together, bodies go-a-flyin'. I went from 0/100 to 100/100 in just a few missions.

Currently squadmates powers are NOT counting; I just did several missions with Liara and Garrus, and while the Shield Breaker achievement is working with Garrus, Sky High is not working with Liara's Singularity. Currently at 0/100 lol

I did it as engineer. My guide should work perfectly for you. Teammate powers didn't work at all, slam doesn't work in general. The only way to do it is to use Flare or Lash from the Omega DLC

Your best bet on getting this is right when you start play as a Vanguard, put your points on lift and right when you first see the husk just keep on using pull on them their should be ten if you don't shot at them coming up the wall, and when they stop spawning reload to a save before you get to that point on earth and rinse and repeat and you should have it in no time.

A quick way to grind this with an Adept Shepard:

In the game's first minutes you're given the tutorial to shoot, ignore the instructions and use Pull and Throw at them until it times out.

Soon after you'll have a very long fight after you trigger the radio in a downed gunship. The battle is scripted so the enemies just keep on coming, until you run out of ammo or time it out and get saved in the last minute. Don't shoot at the enemies, just Pull and Throw them. You'll progress both, this and Combined Arms at the same time.

Worked perfectly. Took twenty minutes. 👍

One bit of advice for anyone else: Make sure to upgrade your powers and save at the first available opportunity, preferably right before the first enemy encounter. Reload as needed. Also, hot-bind the powers to make for easier use.

If you have Concussive Shot available, this is super easy & can be done in the very first spot you encounter enemies. I play a Soldier & imported a max character from ME2. I have Concussive Shot maxed, with Radius @ rank 4, Recharge Speed @ rank 5, & Amplification @ rank 6. I use Incendiary Ammo and have it to rank 5 (didn't have enough points to hit rank 6, if you do - take the Explosive Burst option) with Damage for rank 4 & Heashots for rank 5.

As you're making your way with Anderson, you'll encounter some husks climbing the building your heading towards to give you some target practice (make a save before you move from the big rooftop where the game introduces you to how to take cover, right around where Anderson has a conversation with one of your former squadmates). Instead of wasting ammo on them, use the Concussive Shot with your Incendiary Ammo activated. Even on Insanity, I was one-shotting them & getting credit for "Sky High". My cooldown was also fast enough that I didn't miss any of the husks. Make sure to hit them while they're still crawling up the side of the building.

Once they stop spawning, reload your save & repeat. I was getting 10-11 per run. As a bonus, with Incendiary Ammo activated, you will also pop "Pyromaniac".

Quick way I used was similar to Pyro Achievement :
Start new game (import ME2 data so you start at lvl 30)
Make an Adept
Upgrade Pull to lvl 6 getting Radius @ lvl 4, Lift Damage @ lvl 5 and Double Pull @ lvl 6
Proceed to the are where you climb a ladder and then take cover
Make Sure Lift is Mapped to a trigger and Squadmae Power Use is OFF and then Save your game
Proceed over the cover to the Husk spawn and just keep blasting wiht Pull
Load, Rinse and Repeat, took me 10 minutes or so

It seems that the game doesn't always count the usages from your squadmates. What you can do the get it easily is start a new game with the Adept Class and the Pull ability, and farm it in the initial level of the game. You can make a save before the section that you are waiting for the normandy with Anderson, use pull in the enemies and when they are all killed you can reload the save.

You should be able to get this achievement no matter what class you choose. Supposedly, squad powers should count, but most people report they do not seem to move the tracker. I personally got it as a Soldier with Concussive Shot. Any power that lifts someone off their feet should apply, except Slam for some reason. The full list that appears to work is: Throw, Pull, Biotic Charge, Concussive Shot, Flare, Lash, and Singularity.
