ME2: Hit 20 different targets with multiple biotic powers to combine the effects

How to unlock the Tactician achievement in Mass Effect Legendary Edition - Definitive Guide

Playing Mass Effect 2 as an Adept and using combinations of Shepard's own powers (for instance, Singularity + Warp) does not appear to increment the counter. You need to combine powers from two different characters.

You'll need a primer (for example, Singularity or Pull) and a detonator (for example, Warp or Throw). If Shepard is an Adept, Sentinel, or Vanguard, you can use a combo such as Jacob's Pull + Shepard's Throw. If Shepard isn't a biotic, you'll need two biotic squadmates. Early on in the game you'll have access to Jacob and Jack (Pull) and Miranda (Warp). Fire the primer power first, then while the target is affected by the biotic field, fire the detonator power.

Just make sure that two different characters fire the two biotic powers.

Judging by the comments, the LE is very finicky and inconsistent about incrementing the counter for this achievement. Try different combinations of powers and timing to see what the game will count for you! 20 combos is really not a lot to grind out over the course of the entire game. If you do find a good spot to pick these up though, you can reload a save and do that section over again.

I’ve done this so many times throughout the game, only TWO counted.

As above, but I launch both at the same time on the power wheel, counts every time.

like the previous version of the game, sometimes, for whatever reason, doing a biotic combo with a primer and detonator like ME3 or ME:A won't count. I found it easier to do two Pulls (Vanguard and Jacob) or a pull and throw (Vanguard and Thane)

Yeah it seems pretty finicky in general about when it does and doesn't count. But 20 isn't a lot to grind out.

I got it with pull and warp from Jacob and Miranda, respectively, but it can be really picky about what counts. Just keep at it. At least the in-game tracker updates with every confirmed kill.

Also, it's a good idea to turn off squad power usage before trying this. If your pull is too strong and kills the target instantly, raise the difficulty one setting.

Easiest way I've found to do this is to use Jacob and Miranda with Squad Power Usage turned off in settings. Use Jacob's Lift on an enemy that's out in the open, immediately after the enemy gets lifted (while the lift "particle effect" is still present) open your power wheel and use Miranda's Warp.

I got incredibly consistent results doing it this way and had it done in one mission.

I got this in the Tali recruitment mission. After you speak to Tali on the hologram video call, there is a section with unlimited geth flying drones spawning. I used Samaras Pull and Miranda Warp at the same time. Sometimes it would stop registering, maybe their timing was off, so I just reloaded and did it all again, got all 20 here.

Do you have to kill the enemy or just hitting with the combo counts?

Seems like you might also need to kill the enemy, I’m at 16/20 now and it’s very inconsistent. In a fight and it did it 10 times in a row and nothing, last one killed the enemy and I got the pop up for progressing the achievement to 16/20.

For me the only combos that seemed to count were ones that hit another enemy.

Anytime I pulled an enemy and the warp explosion would hit an adjacent it counted without fail. Solo enemies were nowhere near as reliable.

Just want to also point out to people that, if the enemy has a Barrier, Shield, or Armor, the primer power wont affect them. This needs to be done while they've got only a Health bar.

And also using Pull/Warp seems to be the most consistent combo (for myself, anyway).

Pragia - Jack's Loyalty Mission was a decent place for this. Brought Miranda. Killed the Varren (got a couple of my 20 on them) then went to the first fight with vorcha and the krogan. Was able to get 5+ instances of this, then pop a reload as the autosave is right at the start of the room.

I tried initially on the Reaper IFF mission but the husks had sufficiently low health they'd just be killed by the Pull.

I found using pull and then slam worked 90% of the time on enemies who had no armour, barrier, or shield

For crying out loud. Look, it’s a combination of a skill like Pull followed by a skill like Slam and you have to kill the enemy with it. I do Pull with Jacob then Slam with Miranda and boom, the counter goes up each time. There doesn’t need to be some huge debate and people saying stuff doesn’t work when it clearly does.

Easy way to do this;

N7: Lost Operative under Assignments. As soon as you start you'll go through a door with two mobs with no shields. Save right before you go in

Then just pull and warp the two mobs, reload and go again. They don't have to die

Just make sure you're doing one of the combos. I had Jacob do the pull and my Shepard warp

it definitely has to be 2 different characters to count, tbh my biggest roadblock is that my squadmates blast and kill my primed target before my warp can hit. How do I take away their guns? laugh

ForeignLad's tip worked very well for me, I even managed to hit multiple enemies a few times with upgraded pull. Got it in only a few minutes.

For some reason it would only work if Miranda(Warp) was on the right on the power wheel. 100% of the time vs 0% when she was on the left side, so just reload the save until she is on the right.

Might be a bug for me, might help someone else...

ForeignLad's location worked a treat. It autosaves right before you go in the door.

As for Tjstolk's comment, I think it's because the character on the left side fires their power first. I used Jacob and Miranda. If Jacob was on the left on reload, I used both at the same time. If he was on the right, I'd use Pull, close the menu, then reopen to use Warp.

Realised what the error is - if you use Warp or any "same" ability on the enemy to bring its armour/barrier/shields down, then it will not add towards the achievement. Example, i had miranda use overload on mechs and blast them with guns to take off the armour BEFORE using Jacobs Pull, then Sheperd/Miranda's Warp. Originally, I was using warp to get armour and barriers off which was negating the tracking and leaving me frustrated.

Mr WinterValkyrie you've solved it! I wondered why mine had tracked early game (I got 16 then the tracker wouldn't budge) no matter what combination I tried to do. The first enemies you encounter on Insanity mustn't have any kind of shielding. After reading your comment and replicating your technique, the very first attempt I made on an enemy using pull (Shepherd) + warp (Miranda) combo worked. Thank you, you just saved me a ton of arsing around trying to get it done. Use a gun until they only have a health bar people!

fwiw i had poor luck with pull + slam, and had much better success tracking with pull + throw

I tried alternating combos as suggested two comments up and still didn't have any luck. The one thing that seemed to be consistent was that my first combo in a battle would usually register. After that, there was a miniscule chance of another one registering until I either reloaded a save or watched a cutscene and started another battle.

I figured it out. It only counts if the resulting explosion damages another enemy. Found a spot with two enemies side by side and did the Jacob/Miranda/Pull/Warp combo on one to damage the other, reloaded the save, and repeated. Worked 100% of the time.

Had trouble with this one but I followed Arador's solution.

Right at the beginning on Freedoms progress I just used Pull + slam and alternated that with singularity + warp with Adept shep and Jacob/Miranda and did it with little issue.

I used Jacobs pull and shepards throw I found that if I stood as close to an enemy as I could, used rb to bring up the power wheel and used them both at the same time it always counts. It would seem to me combining a biotic power isn't very specific as the projectile has to hit at the same time though mabye it just worked for me this achievement seems a little crap

Foreign ShyGuy has it right. Jacob & Miranda squad. Order Jacob to Pull, then as soon as the enemy is effected, order Miranda to Warp. You will see a combine explosion, which will damage/knockdown nearby enemies.
One thing I always make sure to do is equip them with weak weapons, and order them into specific cover so they both have clear line of site to the target area.
**N7: Lost Operative was perfect for this achievement. Thanks ForeignLad!!

After having a considerable amount of difficulty with this achievement, I finally unlocked it. It looks like only kills with two biotic effects in play count.

Specifically, I ground out the 19 more I needed on Veteran difficulty on Jack's loyalty mission in the first Vorcha fight (location probably not important). Never managed to get it to count on the Krogan or any Vorcha that hit Bloodlust (armor and glowing eyes). Usually managed to get it on the non-Bloodlusted Vorcha by having Jack Pull, pause the action with the power wheel as soon as I saw the effect land, and have Thane Throw. Didn't really seem to matter if I used shortcuts or manually selected the power.

For me I had to do a different combo each time, I couldn't do the same combo in a row for it to count. So I alternated between Pull-Throw and Pull-Warp and it started going up

This hardly seemed to work for me, but when I combined Jacob's pull and Shepherd's pull, i.e. using Jacob's pull and then instantly pressing RB again whilst the enemy started to float and using Shepherd's power it registered on the onscreen counter every single time.

I was playing on casual so it resulted in a death every time against "normal" enemies so that probably helped.

This is very inconsistent and I have no clue how some of your methods worked. I vaguely remember this from ME2 the original and I swear that to do this you needed to select both characters powers in the wheel at the same time and it was as simple as that. BEYOND EASY. Now here in this doing that only seems to work like 1 out of 5 times. It seems like the characters need to use their abilities at the EXACT same time which you have no control over due to their positioning or if they're shooting. However, switching to the method of using Pull first THEN Warp seems to work more consistently. BUT only if you activate pull and wait like a full 2-3 seconds to use warp. How that makes sense is beyond my understanding....activate both instantly? Must happen at exact same time to count. Activate both separately? Must wait a few seconds....wth...

This achievement is a bit finnicky. The most consistent way it seems to get counted is by using two different characters to use their powers on an enemy with no shields or armor, just their red health bar. Have one character use Pull, then the next one use Warp or Slam. The mission "N7: Lost Operative" has two such enemies directly at the start. Save before entering the door, then use the combo on both, and relead to repeat.
