Long Arm of the Law

Long Arm of the Law

Win 20 Vendettas in the 55th Battalion HQ.

How to unlock the Long Arm of the Law achievement in Max Payne 3 - Definitive Guide

Get a group of 3 who have the DLC and search in Deathmatch made in heaven. You can do either free aim or soft lock, both are usually empty. Look for the gametype marked man on holding cells. Instead of having to die twice, you only have to die once to set a vendetta. 10 minutes is plenty of time for everyone to meet outside and get kills. Remember, you only need 20.

There seems to be a bit of a confusion with this achievement. When I unlocked it, I got it after I get killed twice by the same person and I called a Vendetta and killed that person and it unlocked.

If you check the "After Action Report", it will tell you how many you won. Make sure you keep track on a piece of paper. That is probably the best way to track the progress on how to unlock the achievement.

I helped someone complete this achievement in a boosting session. To confirm, the person MUST kill you twice and you call the vendetta. When the person that has the vendetta want to kill shows up (The red dot sign), kill that person and it should count towards the achievement. Remeber, it won't say 55th Battalion HQ, look for UFE HQ when going for this achievement. In smaller modes, it is sometimes referred to as "Holding Cells" as the map.

Make sure when you call vendettas, don't call it on someone very good and could kill you losing that win.

Feedback is welcome if you want me to clarify or explain something in more detail.

So are you saying if I have 2 positive vendetta wins and 4 unsuccessful that I have a negative (-2) total towards the achievement? I think it is probably when you actually get to 20 vendettas won....

If you have won two vendettas, those two vendettas will count towards the achievement. Unsuccessful vendettas won't affect progress towards the achievement so you won't have to worry about your progress getting affected. So to answer your question, you still have the 2 positive towards the achievement and the 4 negative vendettas won't affect the achievement.

The map is also called Holding Cells for smaller game variants.

What would be the best game mode to use when going for this?

So it doesn't count if I kill someone twice, they take out a vendetta on me and I kill them to win it?

@EbonHawk01 I used Gang Wars because you would have more players, but it can be done in any mode. But, sometimes, Team Deathmatch is the way to go if you are boosting this achievement.

@Slam Shot Sam From what I know, I think it should count if they take a Vendetta out on you and you kill them. But from my experience, I did it by having the person kill me twice and calling the Vendetta and killing them during a boosting session.

@Slam Shot Sam I know I'm way late here but no, it doesn't work that way, I tried it. It has to be done the way GTAmissions1 explains for it to count towards the achievement.

You win a Vendetta when you kill an enemy after they have killed you twice in a row. So it's pretty self explanatory and will take you anywhere between 2 and 5 game depending on how good you are at the game and don't worry if you lose a vendetta from other players, it doesn't affect the achievement. You initiate a vendetta at the respawn screen by pressing . A perk that will greatly help here is Vendetta Tracker which shows your target on the minimap at all times once you've initiated the Vendetta.

You need to win 20 vendettas, which you set yourself, because who called you, winning such a vendetta either will not count towards the trophy, or again there are glitches, in general, try to win vendettas set by yourself.

When voting, the map is called UFE HQ. In a closed game they don’t give you a trophy, it’s been checked.
