Sweaty Betty

Sweaty Betty

Trigger and avoid a Bouncing Betty by Shootdodging.

How to unlock the Sweaty Betty achievement in Max Payne 3 - Definitive Guide

This is very easy to accomplish even by yourself. Simply equip your Bouncy Betty and find a quiet area of the map to get started. Toss it at the ground in front of you and wait for it to stop beeping. Since it is a friendly mine, it won't blow up by walking over it. You'll need to shoot it. Be sure that you have at least SOME adrenaline in your meter so that the game goes into slow-motion, or it won't count as a "shootdodge." Pop 1 shot off into the mine immediately before activating your shootdodge in the opposite direction. Once Betty goes boom, get up, dust yourself off, and enjoy an extra 40 gamerscore.

This needs to be attempted in a public multiplayer match, but as stated in Level 75 Noob's solution; finding "a quite area of the map" is your best bet at having a go at this.

I followed Noob's solution to the tee besides not having any adrenaline to go slow-mo when shootdodging. The achievement still popped despite diving in real time so it can still work.

Check out this quick video I made showcasing how it's done in the middle of a Gang Wars match with the Betty and a Pistol equipped:

It is suggested that this achievement be boosted with at least one other player. Meet your partner in a safe area within the map. Have them deploy their Bouncing Betty near you. Now walk towards the Betty and when the light turns green, this is your cue to ShootDodge backwards as the Betty launches into the air to explode. This may take a couple tries in order to pull it off properly. Just make sure you trigger the Betty, then ShootDodge backwards.

It is very difficult to see an enemy mine in the turmoil of battles, so we do it easier. We set up our mine and hide somewhere nearby (for example, around the corner). As soon as an enemy runs near a mine, we run towards it and perform a shootdodge. If done correctly, the mine will explode literally above you, scattering fragments and killing a running enemy. If you jumped incorrectly or hesitated, the mine will blow you up too.

I got the trophy only when there was a little adrenaline and time slowed down. I jumped from the mine both to the side, and back, and over it without slowing down time, they didn’t give me a trophy, although I remained alive. So, save up some adrenaline and jump forward on the mines.

The easiest way to get a trophy.
We equip a jumping mine and a pistol, go into any open game (I haven’t tried it in a closed one - I can’t say for sure) and run away from the combat zone so that no one interferes. We are looking for some natural elevation of the area (slope or stairs), We place a mine below and stand a little higher, shoot at the mine and jump back and up from it. The fragments of the mine fly under you and you stand up safe and sound.
If you did everything correctly, voila and the trophy is yours (I did this myself and was surprised by the treasured “ding” --- so I decided to share the method).
