I did this with Star since she is the most agile & fast.
Play arcade mode on the easy setting until you finish the game. Keep in mind you only have 7 lives to finish the game. You get bonus lives here & there. But play it smart & just complete the game in arcade mode & the achievement will pop.

You can plug in a 2nd Controller and let him idle....if the 2nd dies, it is no problem, he comes back at the beginning of the new level with 7! lives.
