How to unlock the Not Today achievement in Mega Coin Squad - Definitive Guide

Complete the entire single player in one play-through without using a continue (AKA dying—losing all 3 hearts in one level), without pressing Retry from the menu, and without restarting the game.

To be safe, I wouldn't even back out to the main menu at any point (though I can't confirm this will prevent you from getting the achievement).

I can confirm that if you restart the game by quitting the game (pressing Home -> Menu -> Quit) – even when you are safely at the level-select screen after you have just beaten a level – and then relaunch the game, you will not get the achievement. I made the mistake of quitting the game (like how I mentioned) after beating a few levels and relaunching it, and then I played the remaining levels (all without losing a single heart) and didn't get the achievement.
I restarted the game because the lag starts to get bad in World 4 and quitting the game (like how I mentioned) will fix the lag.

The lag seems to be caused by a memory leak issue (not confirmed, but likely), so to get the least amount of lag in your playthrough, make sure to play the game immediately from level 1-1 once you launch the game. Important: If you want to attempt this achievement and you've already played a few levels (or the game has launched from Instant-on mode from the last time you played Xbox), I would suggest quitting the game (like how I mentioned) and relaunch it. Then start immediately at level 1-1. If you ever have have to use a continue (AKA die), then quit the game (like how I mentioned) and relaunch it. This will optimize the memory for the game and allow the least amount of lag for your playthrough.

I noticed that tweet too. I wonder if it fixes the lag completely.
Anyone, please comment if you notice no more lag after playing 14+ levels, so I can update the solution.

I've already seen some lag playing just one character but it is definitely a lot better.

So you can lose a maximum of 2 hearts in a level and it will still unlock? I thought you couldn't lose a heart? If that's the case, its become a whole lot easier for me.

As stated in the first sentence, as long as you don't lose all 3 hearts and completely die in one level, it should count. So yes, you can lose 2 hearts and still get the achievement.
It's not that bad. Good luck.

The wording of this is so confusing. So if I encounter the lag, you're suggesting is to relaunch the game? Can someone give step by step on what to do in case I die or about to die?

Relaunch the game if you die. This will free up the memory (have the least amount of lag) for your entire playthrough.

If you are about to die, of course don't quit out and relaunch the game until you die.

It's simple: any time you are attempting this achievement, make sure you quit the game, relaunch it, and immediately go to level 1-1 so that you have the maximum memory available for the least amount of lag.
(This is a tip, not a requirement, but doing so will make the playthrough more bearable and easier to maneuver.)

If you are on the MAP screen, and you hit "B" it will back out and go to the main menu.

I can confirm, that doing this (EVEN BY EFFING ACCIDENT) you will void the achv.

I beat the game without dying and didn't get the achv. =\

This is likely the most challenging achievement for the game, though it still isn't too difficult overall. To do this, you must complete all 16 levels without dying AND without manually retrying from the menu. This can mostly be challenging due to player error from misplaced jumps over spikes or lava (not one-hit kills, but does impact your overall health), or from homing enemies following you from awkward angles. To make this easier, use some of the diamonds you earn to obtain the Bonus Time upgrades, which gives you extra time in each level. This may help in pacing yourself to avoid unnecessary damage, while affording the option to earn further diamonds.

Use more of your diamonds for your movement upgrades, or a weapon of your preference if you so choose (I personally recommend the Assault Rifle or Rocket Launcher, as later upgrades to these weapons cover a large area with a wide radius of explosions, depending on the weapon). If you die at any point during your run, you will have to restart from the beginning.

Once you complete all 16 levels with any character without the need for continues or retries, this achievement will unlock.
