How to unlock the Stone Golem achievement in Merge & Blade - Definitive Guide
This achievement was made dramatically easier with the addition of new heroes for this mode in May 2023. The Stone Golem is spawned when you get three gray eggs on rounds 10, 20, and 30.
Some tips:
I played as Puppy which creates a stun-lock on opposing units.
Prioritize unlocking new units and maximizing swaps so you can move units around.
As you get towards the last 10 rounds, try to have a formation that looks like this:
X X P X X
X X P X X
X W W X ?
X X P C X
X X P X X
X = doesn't particularly matter
P = priest
W = wizard
? = highest HP unit you have, general if possible
C = champion
This keeps your champion safe, the wizards do a ton of damage,
I failed a bunch pre-May 2023, but with Puppy I succeeded first after a couple tries. Good luck!

Great suggestion to use the Puppy. I had a pretty low win rate using the other characters, but as soon as I switched to the doggo I only ever lost one more time.
That loss was due to one of the black anubis enemies on wave 30 targeting my boy when I had gotten too confident and assumed I had the win in the bag. Only other tip I think you need is to always have some swaps ready, and keep the cursor on your hero to move them out of the way of later game monsters.

Final Update
I've finally completed it, here's my last round of tips for Rougelike:
With the new update they've made things a lot tougher, but have made some changes which will help:
This is pretty tough but not impossible a bit of luck is required with your upgrades, routes and spawns.
Be prepared to give it several tries before you get to the end.
To get the Golem achievements you need to be playing the rougelike mode, unlocked by completing the campign.
Rougelike mode is 31 levels with the final fight containing the golem you need to kill for the achievement.
It appears random but you can choose the Golem you fight at the end via
Tips:
I've finally completed it, here's my last round of tips for Rougelike:
- If you get upgrades for your units in the first battle restart, upgrades are mostly tied to unlocked units, its a waste to upgrade anything lower than the archer
- Try really hard to get a free upgrade or two in the first couple of battles, its not essential, but it really does help
- It's usually better to pass on unlocking one new unit type, its a waste of a card and you'll find unlocks for 2-3 troops are pretty common
- Keep track of units unlocked, by battles 10-15 you should have everything unlocked, then concentrate on upgrading your hero and units
- Depending on how many units you have, it's sometimes better to leave them unmatched for a battle
- Keep track of where the egg you want was (after the first set of ten battles) if the egg is in the 1st or 2nd box it's more likely to be in the 3rd or 4th box for the next set of ten
- Upgrade the heros health and your highest ranking troops, too often the hero will die from one hit in the last set of ten battles
- You will die often, you will get to the final egg and not be able to get it, you will want to rage a lot at this mode, but keep at it, it can be done
With the new update they've made things a lot tougher, but have made some changes which will help:
- Avoid orange levels during the first set of ten levels, these are now much much tougher
- Swaps appeared to have increased I was hitting 70+ swaps, if you got em use em
- Matching game is much nore important now, you need to play strong to get through the first set of ten levels
- Unlocking troops is more important before the second egg I had two generals
- You can now skip the inro sequence!
This is pretty tough but not impossible a bit of luck is required with your upgrades, routes and spawns.

Tips:
- Protect the king at all costs using your swaps if hes in danger of death
- Plan your route, this will get you the egg you require and choosing the higher challenges (Orange) will net the best upgrades to win
- When viewing the map there is a guide to the rewards and difficulty at the bottom left of the screen
- Utilise farmers early on to boost the king, in the later game this is less important as he should upgrade over the course of the game
- Match 4 or more in the matching game, this will give you extra turns and is vital in building a strong army, a match of four gives you an extra turn, five gives two, etc. Try to plan this with the preview feature!
- Combo matches give you more swaps to save the king with
- Get your free upgrades where you can, a combo of 4+ or a match of 7+ gives a bonus upgrade
- Sometimes its better to have a bigger army than the best troops, it can be an advantage not to match when you have a couple of turns left
- Don't worry about unlocking all character types I beat this with one wizard and no generals

The Roguelike Mode should be left for last, this will give you plenty of time to get used to the game's mechanics.
In order to summon the Stone Golem you will need to collect three Grey Eggs, found at Rounds 10, 20 and 30.
Unfortunately, you will only ever be able to grab three out of the four eggs every 10 Rounds, meaning there is a good chance you won't be able to summon the specific Golem you are after in that run.
In order to maximise your chances of grabbing the correct egg, try and centralise yourself when getting to the seventh round of each Chapter. This is the point when the locations of the Eggs are revealed and will allow you to plan the route you need to take.
Whilst the mechanics are largely the same as with the base game, you won't be able to upgrade Units or acquire new Swaps and Previews without finding their corresponding cards. This adds an even greater RNG element to the game mode that further reduces your odds of success.
Below I will outline some tips and tricks I have discovered as I've played that I hope will help you succeed in completing this game mode:
With a strong frontline, you should be able to eliminate the Stone Golem before it fully decimates your squad. I personally find a combination of Barbarians and Alchemists to be more than enough to accomplish this.
If anyone has any other suggestions, feel free to add them in the comments.

Below I will outline some tips and tricks I have discovered as I've played that I hope will help you succeed in completing this game mode:
- Try and aim for merges of seven or more in the early game when you only have a few units, this will give you additional upgrades.
- You should focus on pursuing Base upgrades until you have unlocked the Alchemist, the final unit you should need to beat the game mode. It has been suggested that the level of the enemy you face corresponds to the most powerful unit you have created. By limiting yourself to the Alchemist, you are reducing the strength of the enemy forces. After a considerable amount of playtime on my part. This appears to be accurate as I never encountered more than a single Lich, Anubis or Seth. And these were only encountered in the last several levels.
- If you can avoid upgrading the Academy past Alchemists, you will be able to group up your Alchemists on the frontline without having to worry about them combining into Wizards. This will create a very effective kill zone that should annihilate most groups of enemies within a few seconds. This will also prevent you from receiving upgrades for Wizards and Generals which would be wasted.
- Aim to complete the hardest Rounds to maximise your chance for high-level rewards. Completing rounds with the Hell difficulty is doable in the early game and will set you up for the end game. Having good upgrades is the key to beating this game mode. Don't take the easy option as you will regret it in the long run.
- Using the Recon ability will not only allow you to see the enemy's upcoming forces (Which is pretty pointless) but it will also reduce the health of the enemy by 30% for the upcoming Round. Save these for difficult Rounds, or Rounds where you have a reduced number of troops. This appears to affect all enemy units (Possibly including the Golem) and as such should be saved for towards the end of the run, unless you can acquire more along your journey.
- Sometimes it's best to avoid merging troops in order to set yourself up for larger merges in the next Round, or, you may want to have greater numbers for the upcoming battle. For instance, it may be better to have three Archers over a single Priest.
- Try and keep your King in the bottom right of the army in the early game, constantly moving him back when you have a weak frontline is a waste of Swaps that you will need later on. Once you have Barbarians you can safely move the King to the third column, whilst still keeping him on the bottom row. This seems to be the safest place for him. Just be aware of ranged units that can target your back ranks.
- Try and keep a number of Farmers on the field to upgrade the King's stats. This applies to the endgame as well. The stats of your King will not change during the battle phase of a Round, even if your Farmers die. So don't worry about trying to protect them!
- Prioritise Unit upgrades after you have acquired the Alchemist Academy upgrade.
- Hero upgrades should be avoided if possible, however, should there be nothing else of interest or if you need to go through a Hero upgrade to reach your destination, try and focus on grabbing Hero Aura upgrades, as this will benefit the stats of your other Units. If you can't get an Aura upgrade, focus on Health, Attack Speed, and Damage, in that order.
