How to unlock the I will do better this time!! achievement in METAGAL - Definitive Guide

This can be done after collecting your first Gear on the tutorial or any stage after. You need to die or kill yourself and the option to use a gear for Rebirth will be there. Select that and you'll unlock this achievement.

As you play the game, you will find gears floating around and dropped by defeated enemies. Collect these. These things give you a chance to continue playing the game if you die and replenish your health if need be.

To earn this trophy specifically, when you die, if you have a gear in inventory you have the option of selecting Rebirth. What this does is instead of making you restart at a checkpoint, you will re-spawn in the room you died in, hopefully saving you some time. In the case of a boss or sub-boss you will spawn in the previous room. Use the Rebirth option and the trophy will pop.

Note: You can also use gears to replenish your health. You can do this by using the weapon select to select the restore health option. If you have a full charge bar, you can press the button to sacrifice one gear and restore a small portion of health.

Refer to the "I'm going to need too many of these..." achievement solution for how to obtain gears. Once you have a gear, when you die, you'll be asked if you'd like to use a gear to respawn at the current screen (rather than at the beginning of the level or at the most recent checkpoint, if you don't use a gear). Choose to use a gear to respawn and this achievement will unlock.
