How to unlock the Virtually Flawless achievement in METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE - Definitive Guide

There is a glitch on VR 19 that makes you invincible for the whole mission after it is activated. You simply need to Zandatsu kill the Fenrir and then fall off the map which activates the glitch. Here is a video demonstration:

You don't have to kill Fenrir. You can fall off the map as soon as the mission starts.

A great guide that I have been using. All credit goes to the person who made it. This details every VR mission with specific strategies. Along with the written guide are videos for each.

Mannys comment above is great but for the mastiffs on 18 I waited for them at spawn and they drop kick 75% of the time which makes it easier since you dont have to look up! Also for 19 the middle part will be a nightmare for you unless you do this! Take out the medium sized guys with parry/counter attacks it takes about 3-4 perfect parrys and sometimes it will stun them both. Then take out fenrir with the lunge stab of up up Y, just like in beginning, then wory about the big guys. Use the pole weapon and just strong attack the hammer guys once or twice and run away until there yellow japanese symbol is above because then you will find them easy to hit/dodge and it will be way easier. Then for the final fenrirs do the same move on all of them once again Up Up Y! Good luck guys

You must have it fully charged to if I remember correctly purple. Then press y and he will be stunned. By the time he comes outta stun your sai should be purple again. Keep repeating

I can't do it. The 3rd level fucks me every time. I've spent over 15 hours trying. Ugh,

The camera alone has been the cause of several deaths. They need to address that for the sequel.

Here's two quick tips to make your life easier for VR 018:

When fighting the mastifs learn where they spawn. Which is to the right of where the 1st wave spawns (use the cubes in the sky to help you). If you position yourself correctly (slightly left of where you spawn at the beginning) they will always do that high jump off the wall in unison. If you time it right you can perfect parry both of them. You grab one and swing into the other killing both.

When fighting the ferir, again, learn where they spawn. Stand in the middle of the arena facing the ferir (on top of a solid line on the floor) as soon as he hops back to shoot the spikes shift to the left and a lot of the time the projectiles will hit the hammer guy and either severely hurt him or flat out kill him. Then proceed to kill both like the video shows.

Doing these simple tricks you save yourself lots of time not to mention makes it a bit easier, espicially the mastif part. I finished 018 in under 5m and I'm nowhere near as good as the person who did the videos.

Below is a video by iconoclast575 that I used for this beast of a trophy. Take the time, watch and learn - the guy/girl (person?) that made this video knows what they are doing.

Also, I have read in a few places that there is a glitch for Mission 19 - after you beat the first wolf, if you run off the right side of the map (and fall into oblivion) you will respawn and not take any damage throughout the rest of the mission. Being that I am not opposed to using in-game glitches, I gave it a shot, but was disappointed.

Questions, corrections and neg vote justifications below.

There are 20 VR Missions that are accessible from the main menu, to have access to the VR Missions you'll have to find the VR Mission Terminals that are hidden throughout story mode. To complete this trophy you'll need to first find all 20 VR Mission Terminals and then clear all 20 of the VR Missions while beating the 1st place score.

See Analysis Complete or the Collectibles Guide for where to find the VR Mission Terminals. See VR Missions Guide for details.

To open VR missions, you first need to find them in the game itself, for which see the Analysis Complete trophy

The conditions and requirements in VR missions themselves are quite gentle; this is not Satan’s hell for survival from Vanquish. They are divided into several main types: kill everyone in a certain time, get to the point undetected, kill everyone using zandatsu, kill everyone using only side weapons, etc. The types are repeated.

Video walkthroughs of VR missions. The hint will be updated as they appear on the tube.

For the most difficult mission 18 (this is the only mission where the Revenge difficulty is set, you will be killed in 1-2 hits), a kind person from ps3t.org wrote a detailed guide on where and how to stand and what to do, and also attached a video. The tactics work 100% (especially the 3rd wave, when Fenrir and 2 heavy cyborgs appear), you just need to master the perfect parry, without it there is nowhere in this game.

There in VR-18 on wave 2 (with mastiffs) it is more convenient to take an electric sai. I advise you to go through VR-18 last as it is the most difficult.

In the second mission, after the ninja attack, you can cut up enemies and then it will be much faster, but not the first two, otherwise you might be noticed.

If you are going to complete VR mission 18, use ONLY this Video , don’t even watch others, because this is the easiest and fastest passage. You will need many attempts to understand the combat mechanics in this mission, I also want to add a couple of clarifications:
  • As soon as a wave appears with two dudes with hammers and a cat, use the hint from user So1idus , namely...
If you stand in the right place before the 3rd wave, the cat will throw a dagger at you, at this moment you need to run to wall C and the dagger will hit one of the dudes with a hammer, if you’re lucky, the cat will throw another dagger and kill the second one
  • Between the 3rd and 4th wave, 3 dwarf geko will appear, kill them with scissors from the air, as you killed them on the 1st wave. Well, after killing them, change your weapon to Monsun's sais and start hitting Grad,
  • As for Grad, watch the video to see at what point you need to press and put him into the “under current” state, if you suddenly dull him, he will come out of this state and you won’t put him into it again, most likely he will kill you later, so watch the fight with him carefully.

In the VR-19 mission there is a glitch that gives immortality and, accordingly, an easy passage: after defeating the first Fenrir, you need to climb outside the map without leaving the room. After his appearance, Raiden will be immortal, the only negative is that in this state you cannot parry, but this is not significant, it is enough to simply weaken the enemies to the blue state and start slicing.

I found VR 19 quite difficult. The best weapon, if you are not a parry genius, is the Bloodlast.

Works great against cats. The first blow, she jumps away, the second blow adds damage, the third - puts her in the stun, + zandatsu. I simply drove the cyborgs like a locomotive and hit them with a bloodlast. I drove custom ones with swords that turned blue. I ran to the other side of the cube, they climbed over the top, jumped off, and below me and the Zandatsu.

Missions are best completed after you buy all the additional weapons, upgrade them and your very first HF-blade to the maximum (although I’m not sure that weapon upgrades are taken into account in missions), buy all the skills for the main and additional weapons. Some missions simply cannot be completed without this. Wigs, skins and other primary weapons are not available in missions.

You also need to take into account the capabilities of some weapons. Bloodlast is good when charged and can halve several enemies at once, which often saves a lot of time. Sai in a charged state (lilac) will stun the enemy. Very useful against single strong opponents, because... The stun lasts longer than the saya is charged. You can loop a combo so that the enemy is constantly in the camp. And the staff has a very useful attack - twice in the air. Raiden thrusts his spear into the ground, striking enemies beneath him. Very useful in mission 19.
