How to unlock the Master of the Wind achievement in METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE - Definitive Guide

Not a solution but just a piece of info I just discovered. It appears that restarting battles does not count towards the total time. For example I started my revengeance run at 830pm and I finished at 1130pm. I restarted at a few difficult battles and a shit ton at Anderson who was a bitch to beat unharmed. When I looked at my game results I saw my total play time was 29:50. Shortly after the achievement popped. smile

I can confirm this (I think).

My total time was 54:48 but there's no way I took that long. I played for about 2 or 3 hours restarting and dying multiple times. Maybe there is a difference between hitting start and selecting restart, and dying? I'm not sure. I did both.

This does definitely work. The trick is, you need to hit restart from the pause menu BEFORE you die. That way it won't count toward your total time played. However, if you die, the game automatically saves the data, so the time you spent fighting prior to dying will be added to your total play time. Even if you choose to return to the main menu after dying, the time will still be saved.

In short, make sure you never die! Always hit restart if you think you are close to dying!

This is actually really nothing new. Most can confirm the same thing happens when you go for "Stormbringer" where you end up taking hours to do a mission only for your final time to be only around 30 minutes or so.

If you die, the game autosaves and the time is still added to your total. I found this out the hard way.

Don't be afraid of the 1 hour mark like I was, DLC is extremely short and you need to actually fight 3-4 of the non-boss fight fights to progress the areas, rest can be skipped using stealth

Two things that will be your best friends on your playthrough in doing this will be Sam's taunt move which makes enemys go into a rage mode and red Phosphorus grenades (if you can find them).

Most of the battles on this level can be avoided as seen on the video above but in the few instances that you must fight i can not stress enough how important it is too taunt enemy's,because when you do the rage/glowing red mode that they enter into enables you to do a hell of a lot more damage to them than you normally would especially when you attack with charged attacks.

Also the Red Phosphorus greandes i found extremly helpful on some of the really tough battles such as the raptors on the elevator, and the three Gekkos in the japanese garden. They allow you to temporarily blind your enemy's which then gives you the chance to deal out massive damage in the form of charged attacks as these two things used in combination are deadly.

Armstrong i didnt really have too much trouble with again though using the taunt move as often as you can enables you to get a big damage boost on his ass,i would use the stragety of dodging each of his grab moves which he likes to do (a lot) and follow it up with a combo of normally two x button strikes or one depending on how fast he recovers from each move he attempts on you.Evading the dragon ball z style flyingpunch is probably the hardest part of this fight as he spams the hell out of it and does a combo of 9 or 8 each time. The chances when you can get some serious damage on him is when he crouches down into the area of effect attack and a red circle appears around him, simply backflip out of the circle or jump out of it and then charge up the Y button attack (charging slash) and let rip should take off at least 15% of his health.

as manny said above dont worry about your time as restarting on him constantly wil not affect it,and the thing i can mainly recommend on this if your having trouble is patience as i know armstrong can be a real asshole at time.

Red Phosphorus grenades helped me out of 1 or 2 situations. Thanks for the tip.

You can run past like 50% of the fights in the mission. Definitely helps.

Another suggestion would be to find all the Upgrades so that you can take more damage before restarting. The link shows screenshots were they all are. Do a quick run on Easy and collect them all. All collectables (including the Nanopaste and Subweapons) carry over when you finish Easy Mode.

Also, if you finish a fight and are damaged. Wait for the checkpoint to appear and restart. You will go back to full Health and have a full Blade Mode Bar.

Hope this helps. Helped me a lot.

This isn't a complete solution, but it's a tip for Armstrong. I wouldn't bother trying to do "You're Hired" (Don't take damage from Armstrong on Hard or higher) on your "Master of the Wind" playthrough. Armstrong is very very difficult on Revengeance difficulty and I drove myself crazy for almost 4 hours trying to not get hit by him to get the no damage achievement. Not to mention that every time you restart/die on Revengeance difficulty, you have to see Armstrong do his stupid sumo animation. On Hard, you don't have to watch that EVERY time you restart/die. It might sound minor, but after hundreds of restarts, it begins to drive you insane.

Instead, just keep 5 health packs on you and fight Armstrong on Revengeance that way. The health packs let you get hit a few times and make the fight much less stressful. It's still a really tough fight, requiring lots of dodging, memorization, and patience. It will take some practice, but it's a better idea to go for these two difficult achievements separately.

Take my word for it. I managed to beat Armstrong on Hard without taking damage after about 25 tries. I must have tried over 150-200 times on Revengeance before quitting from frustration. angry

(Missable) This is the greater of the two hard trophies. The enemies are of course strong and aggressive beyond belief, but aside from that, the big obstacle is Senator Armstrong. You have 60 minutes to clear the mission, but given how horrible Armstrong can be, you can easily build up time from continually dying. You don't build time when you manually restart, but do build time if you die. So I'd suggest preserving yourself with nanopaste and using the checkpoint restart whenever given the chance. Simply make it through the mission on Revengeance difficulty within 60 minutes and you'll earn this trophy at the final results screen.

In principle, everything is correct, I’ll add on my own that it’s not necessary to fight everything that moves, you can simply bypass many enemies, don’t waste time on them. I found a guy who completed the dlc in 9 minutes .

And one more piece of advice from me - make a backup copy of your progress often.

Here's how it's done, if anyone doesn't know:

1) After the start screen (where you need to click Start), you will see 3 slots for passage, one of them is yours, which contains all your achievements, weapons, collections.

2) Select the passage that we need to copy, and click

3) Select another slot and click

You now have an exact copy of all your progress in the game. Why is this important? Because in some difficult places you can be killed faster than you realize that you have no first aid kits. And after your death, the time and damage statistics continue.

Let's say you spend 10 minutes on Armstrong, and after three deaths and subsequent restarts, the game counts you 10•3 = 30 minutes and removes the bonus for not taking damage forever for this fight. Therefore, if you suddenly get killed, select the title and again copy the previously copied passage - and again!

I don’t advise you to try to overtake this guy from the video - you’ll lose all your nerves, and the result will be the same if you completed the dlc in 50 minutes. Just use some of the methods from this video, and when things don’t work out, develop your own, albeit long, but effective tactics.

Don't forget about backups in case of death too! The guy's game is in Japanese, but that doesn't interfere. In addition, if you complete the dlc in less than 40 minutes, you will receive an in-game achievement - title ( titttle ), which, you see, is also nice. Anyone interested in all the titles of this dlc , please follow the link, the video says it all.

Probably one of the most difficult trophies in the game. It all depends on your experience playing MGR. Problems can arise with Armstrong. With good skill, you will take the trophy in less than an hour.

For those who suffer from Armstrong in the final (2nd) stage, he will spam “passes” until he sells you (it seemed so to me after 4 hours). At the last stage I did a “taunt”, missed it and immediately he did a “ground stomp”. Three charged sword strikes and that's it. As a result, it passed in 37 minutes with 4 deaths. Know damage is better done on hard.
