How to unlock the Pacifist achievement in Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes - Definitive Guide

This guide is 100% from LSC Mr Sandman, he asked me to post it because, well, he goofed up posting it; he created/edited/wrong cheev/deleted blah blah and now he can't create it. Anyway, who cares what happened... here's his solution.

Alright this is a very action heavy mission yet you can only use a non-lethal weapon (except for one occasion but we'll get to that!).

As always, play on Normal difficulty and load up the mission "Intel Operative Rescue" It helps if you complete the mission once without any restrictions so you know what you're going up against.

During this mission you can only use the non-lethal Uragan-5-Pistol. To equip it press down on the d-pad.

For the first part of the mission there really isn't all that much I can write about. Be quick and precise while taking out enemies with your pistols. Priority should go to enemies on roofs or with rocket launchers. If you take out most of the enemies you'll get through this part without going down.

Once you reach the operative at his car you want to take out the RPG soldier first. He's the one standing on the rocks right in front of the operative. Afterwards just take out the other soldiers that are standing around.

The operative will now get back into his and you'll have to cover him. Once again: just take out as many enemies as possible.

Once he's back in the camp there will be a truck who cuts off the operative. You NEED to take him out or otherwise the operative will die. The good thing is you can actually take him out before he turns around. Right when he cuts off your ally shoot through the side window of the truck. You can't really see the driver but you'll take him out by shooting through the window.

And again you just have to cover your ally. Take down as many soldiers as possible while flying around. Next up will be a part with an AA gun. I tried throwing smoke so it can't hit me but it didn't really work. But I also wasn't able to take out the gunner. Luckily he jumped out of the gun before taking me down (if somebody has a good way to get past this let me know). Try to remember where this gun is placed. You'll need it!

The operative will be knocked out and after clearing some more enemies out of the chopper you'll have to get him. Clear as many enemies as possible while staying in the chopper. Then get out and grab your ally. Pick him up and run back but it's not going to be that easy!

There will be an armored vehicle in your way. Now is the time to get on that AA gun that was bothering you before. Drop your friend just behind it and lay into the enemy vehicle. Even though it explodes it WON'T count as a kill!

After you destroyed it there might be more soldiers so take care of them and get back to the chopper. An enemy helo will follow you but don't be too afraid. You can let it follow you without worrying. After it destroys a radio tower it will get up close. Now is the time to shoot the RPG soldier in there. Take your time and aim precisely. Once he's take out, you're done!

You have to be careful shooting at the guys up on the building roofs. I shot one that had an RPG and he toppled off the roof and died. Also, the enemy near the landing field that gets run over by the intel agent (just before the agent gets KOed) - does this count as a kill? I managed to stun him once before he got run over, not sure if that matters. He does drop his rocket launcher next to the agent, pick it up and you can make short work of the armored vehicle.

Shot the guy out of chopper and he died at the end, but still got achievement so don't panic if something like that happens !

Lol, I failed this mission twice, once because I died and once because I didn't shoot the helicopter in time, and still got an S rank. Wtf lol.

Okay, not sure how I got this!

I failed countless times through the middle section and after maybe 10-15 restarts I quit out. Went back a little later and continued from the main menu. This seems to have re-set the restart counter (wow, that's confusing!) and I got the achievement and S-rank with only 1 restart and in under 12 minutes.

Oh, and guys seemed to be dying all over the place - people getting run over by vehicles, falling off things and crashing in flames as WhatsaTopher mentioned.

Anyway, thanks for the guide and if you're struggling, stick at it!

Just got this, and with an S rank, i have no idea how i just pulled that off after trying to S rank Ground Zeroes for the s rank there at least 8 times

As previously mentioned, this achievement is quite lenient. As long as you don't personally deliver the killing blow, it does not matter if someone dies. That being said, I'm not sure how tranquilizing a guy and causing him to plummet hundreds of feet to his death is not considered an act of murder. I think this achievement might be too lenient. laugh

Some other tips:-

People can die, as long as you don't kill them. I had one jeep run over someone I had previously knocked out, and it didn't count against me. Same with the jeep driver through the middle of the level - he drove into a barrier and exploded, but it didn't count as a kill.

Be careful with the armored vehicle. Make sure it's far away from any knocked out soldiers before shooting at it with the rocket launcher, as the splash damage can kill them.

The final soldier in the helicopter took about 10 hits from me before he actually registered one. I think he may be invulnerable until he's shot at your chopper, so just keep firing at him.

Switch to the tranquilizer weapon (down on D-Pad). During the tank section you can use the rocket launcher to take it out however make sure there's no unconscious guards near the explosion radius or that will count as a kill. Do not use the rocket launcher on the chopper, simply aim for the gunner (not the pilot) with your tranquilizer weapon. If you screw up and accidentally kill someone simply restart the checkpoint.

This one can be tricky. You must only use the Uragan-5 pistol as it’s a non-lethal weapon. A majority of this level is “on-rails,” and the helicopter flies on a predetermined path while you take a seat on the side providing covering fire for the undercover agent that’s making his way to the extraction point.

Eventually you'll have to hop off the chopper and make a run to the agent once he falls unconscious during the mission. When you reach him, be sure to grab the FB MR R-Launcher that's just behind him.

An armored vehicle will roll out from the main gates of the Admin Building. You won’t have to worry about killing soldiers that are inside the armored vehicle, but when you use the launcher to destroy the vehicle make sure you are clear of downed enemies that you have already neutralized with the pistol. Splash damage from the launcher will kill them.

Use the Uragan-5 pistol once more to get rid of the enemy within the opposing helicopter at the end.

Difficulty: Medium. Requires practice and good aim.

On the Intel Operative Rescue mission you spend most of your time in a moving helicopter, making this difficult for anyone without a stead aim. Luckily you have infinite ammo on the helicopter.

Use your pistol on this, as it's a non-lethal kind (Press down on D pad to select it). You must disable EVERY enemy with this, though it isn't required to actually shoot EVERY enemy in the mission, just the ones who are an issue. With cars shoot either the driver or the wheels to disable.

Don't worry about the car that drives into an explosive barrel, this always happens and the driver clearly survives as the trophy still unlocks.

When you get down from the helicopter move all enemies away from the fuel tanks where the tank will greet you BEFORE getting the rocket launcher. This is the only thing on the level you can use that rocket launcher on (And it takes 3 shots so don't waste any as you only have 4).

This Side Op tasks Snake with locating a high-priority Operative within Camp Omega while flying around inside the helicopter. As the mission progresses, there will be a few enemies that you need to take care of, so make sure to use the Uragan-5 Pistol, as it’s a non-lethal weapon. Any other weapon, such as the Assault Rifle, will kill enemies and void the achievement.

Once the Operative is located, you will now have to provide covering support from the helicopter as the Operative maneuvers his Jeep to the helipad. Continue using the Uragan-5 Pistol, taking out as many guards as you can, especially the ones in Jeeps.

Once you get to the helipad, the Operative will fall unconscious near a building. Exit the helicopter and make your way over to him, making sure to pick up the Rocket Launcher near the barrel beside his body. Almost immediately, an enemy tank will emerge from the admin building and you'll need to take it out before extracting the Operative. Use the Rocket Launcher to destroy the tank - it usually takes three to four shots - but make sure there are no unconscious enemies around the tank; the splash damage from the explosion will kill them.

When the tank has been taken out, you can finally pick up the Operative and extract when your helicopter lands. The only thing left to do is deal with the enemy helicopter trying to shoot you down. Wait until the enemy helicopter lines up with your field of view, then all you need to do is shoot the gunner with your Uragan-5 Pistol. He will fall out, but it will not count as a kill. The mission will then end shortly, and the achievement will unlock, assuming you made sure not to kill any enemies.

Below, you can reference the video which details how to go about obtaining this achievement. It's relatively straightforward, however.

Just select "Hurricane", which is initially in the secondary weapon slot: it only knocks out enemies. Destroying an armored personnel carrier at the end of a mission does not count as murder.

If the pursuers in jeeps are difficult to hit from the Hurricane, you can shoot them with a machine gun.
Just shoot at the jeep until it lights up and stalls.
Be careful not to hit the driver.

In the battle with the armored personnel carrier, do not pay attention to the soldiers who fell under its wheels.
The main thing is not to hit them when firing from a rocket launcher.

Please note that if an NPC on an armored personnel carrier eats up his own people, then they kill them and the murder goes to your expense. Also, Hideo will be pursued in jeeps. As soon as they appear, try to knock out the driver immediately. Otherwise, later there may be an accident and the driver will die and I will credit his death to you.

The driver of the enemy jeep crashed into a barrel, the barrel exploded and... well, in general, it is unlikely that he survived. And the guy on the roof fell and obviously broke his neck. Not to mention falling out of a helicopter. Yes, and this was the third attempt. As a result, rank S and 0 kills.

It is important that no enemy dies from being hit by your lethal weapon. If someone dies for other reasons, you will not count their death. For example, I fired from a Hurricane at a grenade launcher, he was blown off the roof and crashed. He shot jeeps with a machine gun, they exploded along with the drivers. The armored personnel carrier shot the soldier lying next to me and drove over another. As a result, upon completion of the mission, there were 0 kills. They gave the trophy.

You can shoot down a helicopter with a rocket launcher without killing a person, you have to shoot in the tail
