How to unlock the Collector achievement in METAL GEAR SURVIVE - Definitive Guide
In short you will need to play some hard difficulty co-op missions to get all weapons and gear. You do not have to get any of the epic/orange or purple weapons or gear.
This spreadsheet was created by some folks who are not me at all. Ignore the title page and look at the tabs at the bottom. The one titled Collector relates to this one. I HIGHLY suggest using this document and checking off/deleting items as you get them. Download the document or save it to your google drive in order to edit it/check items off.

These are the rarest items to look out for. The sooner you start looking/preparing for these the easier this will be for you at the end:
Large Quiver
The recipe for the large quiver can be acquired two ways. The easiest but rarest way to get it is during an event called "The Researcher." Events last for 2 weeks but take 6-8 weeks to cycle through all the other events. If you see that the researcher event is happening, do everything you can in order to purchase the large quiver. Otherwise, you will have to wait for it to happen again.
To purchase the large quiver during the researcher event, you will need 2,000 BPs. During this event, BP's can only be obtained by completing base digs. BPs do not carry over from event to event. So you will have to earn the BPs during that event. Otherwise, spend your BPs if you have them.
The second way to get the recipe for the large quiver is to complete an extreme difficulty salvage mission and get a B score; not an extreme rescue mission. This is very difficulty to do without the best weapons, gear and other great players. If you do want to attempt this go for an airport version. It is possible to hold off the waves with air-cannons and oil traps at the stairways. Save all kuban to deploy the heavy tactical on the devastator.
Once you have the recipe for the large quiver you will need: Martial Eagle Tail Feather x1, Cashmere Wool x6, Carbon Fiber x6, Wire x10, Screws x10.
This is the order that the events will occur:
The Researcher's Story> The Encounter> Misc/Unhoped-for Help> The Ferryman's Legacy>
Medium Equipment: Survival Bag, Bottle Holder, Grenade Pouch, Explosives Pouch, Disc Case and Quivers
To get the recipes for all of the above Medium-sized equipment, you will need to play salvage missions on hard difficulty. This is the easy part. Some of the items mentioned above require rare animal parts. This can be a little annoying.
These are the rare animal parts you will need to track down:
Black Ear of Anubis x10
Side Striped Jackal Pelt x24
African Wild Dog Pelt x16
After completing the game, you will have the option of doing base digs. After completing the base dig #1, you will be able to raise dogs. I highly suggest only raising Anubis until you have your 10 Black Ears. If you have 4 Anubis, you should be able to farm 2 ears every 2-3 days; real time. Anubis only spawn as rare animal missions.
After getting 12 Black Anubis Ears, dismantle the dog cages, build new ones and catch two African Wild Dogs and two Side Striped Jackals. Raise them until you have 24 pelts and 16 pelts; respectively. These dogs spawn at jungle base sites 2 + 6.
see the Animals tab in the spreadsheet for locations of animals
You will also need 12 Grey Wolf pelts too but wolfs are so common that you will probably get enough by running into then in the wild. Make sure to raise some Wild Ass too for their pelts. Plus it is just fun have having wild-ass anything. The other parts you will get plenty of by looting in the campaign and from playing co-op missions.
Legendary Weapons and Gear
You will get the purple epic weapons and gear from co-op missions. They will always be awarded in the broken form. You will need to craft at least one of each. You do not need to have all in your possession but I suggest holding on to at least one of each just for your own reference. All items are awarded randomly including the ones in cases.
In order to be able to craft these you will need to upgrade your benches. To do this, you will have to complete base dig #5. Leave it to the crew and make sure you have 5 times the defense power for the wave coming in. For example, if the the blue wave is 4,000 have 20,000 defense power. It does not matter if it is guns or fences, just the number needs to be high enough for each section of the base.
Yes, you will have to wait a day to do each dig but you will not lose any turret ammo and only have to do minor repairs. Plus, no skill is involved.
However, you might not have to collect these purple weapons at all. A few folks have said that that did not get all the purple weapons/armor. I would say not to try too hard for these purple weapons/armor and go for the rare equipment instead.
The Rest
It was mentioned in the comments and I did read in other sources you may not need to get all the purple/legendary gear and weapons. It seems that people are unlocking this without all the purple. This may have been the result of an updated that glitched this positively. In order to potentially save yourself some time, start tracking down grey, then green then the blue weapons/gear/equipment first.
Most of the grey, green and blue weapons/gear are found in containers through out the campaign. Containers will respawn after a while so it can be hard to tell which ones you have gone through. I would simply suggest following the checklist and going back to track down the missing containers when you are ready to tackle the 100% maps achievement.
This is an interactive map that should help you locate anything.

Great guide. Just wanted to mention your event order is wrong so must have changed at some point. Not sure the full order rn but the previous event was the ferryman and this new event is the encounter

Also a tricky trophy but luckily you can use the same list: LINK (tab "Collector"). Be aware that it's both weapons and gear so that's quite a lot of crafting. You only need normal, uncommon, rare and epic gear and weapons, not the legendary stuff so only grey, green, blue and purple weapons and gear. My personal tip would be to keep one exemplar of each item so you can track which ones you already have.
This guide was translated automatically.
Need grey, green and blue weapons and armor including bags.

I encountered one problem with this trophy (maybe it will help someone) - blueprints for everything fall either from the story, or as rewards online, or when purchased with BP currency at certain events. There is a drawing (I had the last one for the trophy) of a medium bag for grenades - it drops either from an extremely rare event (I blew it), or randomly from extreme difficulty (and it’s very painful to go there without preparation).
