The easiest way to do this is to be at base camp and sleep and check the objectives your crew offer when they become available. If a distress signal isn't one, sleep another day and repeat.

As you play through the game, you'll get occasional distress calls and a green circle on your map. Going there will allow you to rescue a survivor and take them back to Base Camp. These are relatively dangerous missions, since you mostly don't know where you are and where to go. Also, while carrying a person, your ability to fight off wanderers is seriously limited. If you take them all the way back to Base Camp, they'll join your ranks. Collect 30 of these people (which is the maximum your Base Camp supports) and the trophy pops.
