This isn't really a guide, but I thought I should let people know that a glitch happened when I got this achievement.

I was playing the game in local co-op, with my brother. We beat the game, me using 0 continues and my brother using 7 continues (if I remember correctly). I got this achievement... and so did my brother... even though he used continues.

I'm assuming that if you play local co-op, and one of the players does not use continues and completes the game, everyone gets the achievement.

Kenneth1250 is dead right, me and my brother did this last night in local co-op from the start to finish. I didn't use any continues to finish the game, he used 9 and the achievement unlocked for both of us.

Recently achieved this and would like to impart my own tips and suggestions for the 1CC. After completing both Metal Slug XX and Metal Slug 3, I kind of feel the 1CC for both games are about the same in difficulty. While MS3 does have the higher ratio, MSXX has more missions than MS3 and a more random Final Boss. Perhaps it's the lack of auto-fire and a mission select in MS3 for its perceived difficulty? If it weren't for MS3's lengthy Final Mission, it wouldn't even be a contest! Nevertheless practice is your friend with both games so be patient, fail a lot, and prosper! A co-op partner is NOT necessary at all; you simply need to practice and you'll get it with time.

Just always remember to change the difficulty to Easy under the Help & Options > Settings menu to simplify things. Avoid pressing the jump and shot button together while piloting slugs (this will cause an ejection and frontal attack). Instead press

to exit your slug. Obviously you'll only want to sacrifice your slug to attack a Boss or break open a door. Furthermore, try to crouch when shooting your handgun rapidly. Your hit-box is smaller, you can turn left and right to take out enemies more quickly, and also the rate at which you fire is seemingly faster. Also seems to be faster when using melee attacks while in close quarters.

The earlier missions should prove no problem for most players with some practice. In fact, if you die on Missions 1-3, I suggest simply starting over. It doesn't take long to recoup your progress anyway and you'll want to have as many lives saved up as possible for the monstrous 5th and Final Mission. To avoid bloating my comment, I've provided my tips in the clickable spoiler below.

Hints & Suggestions:

Mission 1
Super easy mission to no miss, especially if you use the Warp Base to take the Kong Crabs path. Avoid the submarine and fishing boat. Jump over the gap and take the Warp Base path where you kill all the crab enemies. For the Final Boss, you can kill it in mere seconds by tossing some grenades at him first then immediately hopping into the Slugnoid. Jump away then quickly spam your well-aimed vulcan shot and your bombs by mashing

and

buttons to send the bombs at it. I usually killed it in under 10 seconds this way.

Mission 2
Simple mission when taken slowly. Crouch and rapidly shoot your handgun to kill zombies from afar to avoid getting spat on and "turned". Half way into the mission there is a helicopter section that can be tricky, just take out the choppers above right away with the Chaser while throwing grenades to your left and right to avoid cheap deaths. Early into the mission, I suggest saving the president as one of the nearby POVs will give you 10 grenades. Try to save most of your grenades for the Monoeye UFO Boss. I normally kept around 20 by the end and by spamming them, killed the first phase of Monoeyes very quickly. This isn't a hard mission to no miss at all, but when there are only 2 Monoeyes hovering about, their projectiles can get a little tricky to dodge so you want to kill them as quickly as possible!

Mission 3
Another simple mission to no miss save for a mid-section with bazooka soldiers above and below you. As the mission starts, take out the 1st scuba diver enemy in front of you and pick up the Enemy Chaser he drops. Break open the second pile of rubble ahead to rescue a POW that gives you 10 grenades. Then simply swim down inside the hole to enter the Underwater Tunnel path. Once you get to the Factory, simply take out all the cameras and patrolling robots with the Chaser you picked up earlier.

Once you take the 1st lift up, I suggest ditching the chaser (just blow the ammo). Your handgun is better for killing the robots here and rescuing the POWs above (one gives you another 10 grenades). Be sure to pick up the HMG given to you by one of the other POWs here. After you take the 2nd lift, here comes the tricky part. You should crouch and spam your grenades against the first wave of shielded troops, jump over the Laser gun drop, and be sure to spray your HMG in a 90° angle to take out any enemies above you or that spawn from behind. Jumping and tossing grenades may also kill enemies spawning above. The HMG is perfect for this section because you can shoot it to cover a wide area by shooting and tapping up on the d-pad. If you know where the 3 bazooka soldiers will spawn, you can kill them with the HMG's spray before they even get a shot off.

You'll eventually come to an enemy inside a LV Armor slug. Remember! You can only jump into this one LV Armor so get into it right away as a solider will spawn from behind and jump into it before you do; be sure to kill him! Inch forward in the LV Armor while shooting and double jumping (by double pressing or holding

) to kill enemies off screen. A POW on a platform above a utility truck will give you a shotgun so pick it up while in the LV Armor. Avoid picking up any more weapons by waiting for them to disappear and beware of the threshold where the game auto-advances you to the boss (or else you might pick up a HMG).

Jupiter King Boss
The Jupiter King Boss here dies in just 20 or so shotgun shots to the head and you can easily abuse the "jump out of slug" invincibility trick each time red flames or eye lasers come at you. Just be careful not to pick up any weapons it randomly drops when destroying it's missiles (or you'll lose your precious shotgun).

Mission 4
With the right path, it's a very short and fairly easy mission but the Sol Dae Rokker boss can be a nightmare if you get bad RNG attack patterns (namely the yellow projectile attack). Also feel free to go crazy with grenades in this mission as you can't use them to hit the boss anyway. At the start, the Camel Slug is actually pretty OP so angle your vulcan shot accordingly to take out the waves of soldiers and tanks (while making the helicopters and missile jets a priority).

Take the wooden ramp path upward (don't enter the building). This takes you to the Pyramid Section. Avoid the spores and kill any Man Eaters you see right away. The Man Eaters shouldn't be much of a threat but they can eat you if you let them get in front of you. Kill them from above, below or afar. They don't need to get close to eat you. There is a crank box once you reach the top. Do not pull it! Instead kill all the enemies that spawn here, move forward, pick up the Laser Gun drop from a POW, then drop down the large well hole below for a nice shortcut to the Final Boss of this mission.

Sol Dae Rokker
The Sol Dae Rokker boss is only difficult based on the attack patterns you get. POWs will drop either HMGs or Laser Guns for you. Regardless, you should be aiming up and shooting at it constantly when it's most safe. You'll know how close he is to defeat by how red (and quicker) he gets as the fight progresses. The sooner it's dead the fewer random attack patterns you'll need to dodge. The attack patterns include:

- Purple Sweeping Laser: You can dodge it by simple standing to the very left or right of the tower. It won't hit you! The laser only travels so far to the right or left but you don't have to jump off the tower to avoid it at all. Simply stand on the edge and it won't touch you!

- Wolf Projectiles: The boss will position itself in the middle and fire wolves into the air (that eventually try to dive into you). Simply jump as they dive into you to avoid them; but don't jump too early! It is during this attack pattern that it's is the best time to unload all your firepower into the boss.

- Red Projectile Bursts: These can be easily avoided by simply moving to the left then right between bursts. Just be sure you know when the first burst is shot at you then simply move the opposite direction between bursts (while firing upward at the boss whenever it's in range).

- Yellow Projectile Attack: These are random and shoot continuously unlike the red ones. This attack can also be initiated from three spots: the left, right, and middle. There are multiple ways to dodge it. Most players seem to stand under the boss while firing and moving left and right. You can also try crouching and jumping about while anticipating each projectile. Running to the edge and jump about could also work. There doesn't seem to be a 100% safe way to avoid them so pick your poison and hope he doesn't use this attack pattern too often (increasing the odds of you getting hit).

Note: If the Mission 4 Boss is really giving you problems, then you can try taking one of the alternate paths of this stage with insects that allows you to pick up 450 Laser gun ammo en route to the boss. This allows you to kill it faster but you'll have to find the path on your own volition.

Mission 5 (Final)
While this is the hardest mission in the game due to it's length and intensity, the earlier sections before you get to the Rugname Alien ship shouldn't give you too much trouble.

Right at the start you're given a choice between a Slug Flyer Jet and Slug Copter. The Flyer Jet has a stronger bomb attack and is easier to maneuver but the Slug Copter has a stronger vulcan attack. It comes to preference but I always go with the Flyer Jet. While in the clouds, spray the Flyer's shot to take out the paratroopers and you'll want to aim your vulcan high and low to take out the missiles dropped by jets. Focus on destroying the missiles to avoid taking any damage. Some jets spawn from behind so position your slug accordingly. Try to save all of your bombs for the mid-boss fight coming up soon.

Once in the forest, if your aircraft is ever destroyed, the game will spawn a Slug Copter for you to pilot as needed. Later, you'll come to an Alien O Neil boss fight. Spam all of your bombs to take him out quickly. If you preserved the health of your Flying Jet, the boss shouldn't be an issue at all.

For the Galaga-inspired Astro Slug Space sections, there really isn't much to say. Defeat the enemies quickly, move around to avoid getting hit, and grab the weapon pick ups to shoot everything in sight. For the Rugname boss, simply dump all your bombs into it while shooting to quickly kill it outright.

While in the Rugname, the red Mars Mecha enemies can be a major pain if not dealt with carefully. There is a chance for a laser gun drop prior but you'll need to kill them at just the right moment so that they don't collapse onto you as well as you don't walk into their green bouncing bubbles while trying to avoid the collapse! Once they start smoking, wait for them to jettison some green bouncing bubbles, dodge them, then finish them off with grenades or shooting from below, then quickly get out the way. The Mobile Satellite that drops after the 1st Mars Mecha makes the other 2 easier to deal with.

During the Clone Incubator section, just try to fire at the clones where you have full view of any that spawn (while intermittently firing at the stasis container of your trapped friend). Never let an enemy sit still for long or be prepared to be flame shot. Alternatively, you should be able to easily stock up on 999 HMG ammo then position yourself at the bottom left of the area while jumping and shooting until the stasis container shatters, freeing your partner.

During the final stretch where you'll destroying the 3 locks on doors and the zombies are chasing you, it's is imperative that you shoot the locks while crouching (to dodge the red vomit shots in between). If the zombies get too close, the red vomit attack will be unavoidable so take them out before resuming your fire on the door locks.

Rootmars Boss
For the Final Boss of the entire game, you'll be abusing the same strategy everyone else uses: "the exit slug invincibility trick". The problem here is that after a while, the rate at which the Boss fires its yellow ring wave and green orbs begins to fluctuate after a while. The key is to simply ensure that the same jump you use to avoid the ring attack is the one you use to re-enter the slug tank. If the tank is destroyed, then the Boss fight will be much more difficult as you'll have to dodge the green orbs fired from it's mouth (and they're completely random). Dodging them all will be punishingly difficult but not impossible.

The Flame Shot seems to be the most devastating weapon to use against Rootmars. If you saved your Flame Shot while escaping the Rugname, then it will be extremely useful here. Otherwise, try to dump all your grenades into it and shoot at it in between each jump to re-enter the tank. The orange orbs shot from it's mouth will drop a weapon pick up if you're lucky enough to shoot one.

There are more details I've regrettably left out but any longer and I'd need to just post my own solution (and I just don't want to commit to that at the moment). It's probably solution-worthy as is but people have a better chance seeing my comment than a solution buried below two others for a 13 year old XBLA game.

I’m tired of trying today I got a run in where I didn’t die I the whole game and I died 3 times in the last boss 3 times because of really bad luck patterns, this game is just to unfair

I tried it joining at the last moment and it only gave the complete all missions but not this one, muy guess is you need to still go through all the game

This achievement is insane! The amount of practice you will need is also insane! Unless you have a world record setting co-op partner to do this with who can somehow protect you in any situation.

But thats probably not the case, so hopefully this will be the last achievement that you need, as i have made guides for each of the 'no miss' achievements that should help you on your way to 200g for this game.

The plus side of having a co-op partner is that you will recieve less attention from the enemies, but just a little less to be honest. But you have an extra gun with you so to speak which will make quick work of most of the enemies. Downside is that the action can get very hectic with too much happening on screen at once and forgetting to concentrate on your own characters position. Plus i tryed playing over Xbox Live once and the game was very laggy! Causing too much delay when trying to jump or shoot, obviously bringing my game to a quick end.

Local co-op could be a great idea if you had a friend who was willing to practice with you. Plus you will obviously have face to face contact instead trying to communicate with mics which may help.

Now here are videos for each Mission, 1-5. They wont make you be able to unlock the achievement straight away but will definitely aid you in becoming better at the game. Remembering where and when enemies will spawn and potentially the best paths to take.
