How to unlock the Closing the Book achievement in Metaphor: ReFantazio - Definitive Guide
The book is in Akademia, and you can fight the boss pretty much anytime.
Of course you should wait until you have all party members again and have the Prince archetype unlocked (so basically get to endgame again). Also level up to a point where you won't get one shot.
- You can also pick the first option when talking to the captain at the beginning of the game to give you a strength build boost. With this, put as many points into Strength as possible when levelling up. You want to do the most damage possible.
Ironically I found the superboss to be easier than the True Final boss. It will gain more press turns as its health goes down but it seems to not debuff/buff as much. I was able to beat it at only level 50 on Easy.
Just make sure you buff yourself, use Royal Sword synthesis, have the crown that gives you an extra press turn, and keep the dragon debuffed to get through the fight. Hulkenberg with Omni-counter and Knight's proclamation will be very useful to cancel the dragon's turn if it repels its attacks. Have someone with full healing as well.
EDIT: Completely forgot about the whole cooking aspect of the game besides its achievement. There is one recipe (thanks to TehJofus) called Sublime Spoonful, which adds 4 Press turn icons, and can be used repeatedly. You can straight up do the SMT 3 Nocturne Mot mindset and just beat the dragon to death.
NOTE: this recipe only appears after you have cooked all the previous dishes, and requires you to actively use time to fish for the Lord of the lake and honey jars (only via tail bait, which only randomly appears when cleaning the Gauntlet), and Gauntlet shrooms (only randomly appears when checking the pantry every day). If there are easier ways of acquiring the ingredients comment below.

The Redscale Apocalypse Dragon is a New Game Plus super boss that’s only available in this mode once you’ve completed the game at least once (and only available on Easy mode and above - so don’t play it on Storyteller mode).
In New Game Plus you’ll have all your items from your first playthrough, your Royal Virtue progress, as well as all your Archetype progress - however, you will need to do Follower links to unlock them all again, so definitely do that. You’ll also start from level 1, so you’ll need to get to level 70-80 (depending on how easy a ride you want) to take on the boss.
When you’re of that level, head to Akademeia and select the Book of Apocalypse (on the table in the middle of the room) to take on the super boss - you can take it on any time, and if you die, you return straight to Akadameia.
This boss fight is similar to the other Dragon boss fights, just so you’re aware. Make sure you have the Reverent Crown (80% Archetype proficiency… one of a few items that don’t carry across playthroughs) and if you can make Sublime Spoonfuls too (for 4 extra turns), you can keep spamming them and never let the dragon have a turn. Either way, just buff your team, debuff him, and smash him with everything you have. And don’t wear any repel or absorb armour, but you can nullify his attacks (so use all the fire nullifying gear you have).
Once it’s dead, the ‘Closing the Book’ achievement is all yours.

Used the "trick" of cooking the food Divine Delicacy (Sublime Spoonful; the last recipe, after cooking all the previous ones. Unlocked in a normal playthrough). This dish gives 4 extra moves after using it. It took about 15 pieces.
- 1 Lord of the Lake
- 3 Jars of royal honey
- 3 Runner Mushrooms
NG+ Tactics
Before getting fishing, save every day in front of the Pantry and if you haven't got the Gauntlet Shroom - (load the last save before the door) and try again. On the Day Off, don't forget about the toilet, which increases luck.
When there is an opportunity to use the Upright Cleaning tool on the Gauntlet at the very bottom, save before it and clean up the Pantry. If 2 Tail Bait did not drop, restart the game and spam to skip cutscenes and open the last save.
With the opening of fishing, at every opportunity (sometimes intentionally spending days on moving to the location by water only for fishing) skip time there using the bait Mormyshka. For the best result ( 1 Lake Lord and 2 Jars of Royal Honey ), choose one of the following answers (there are 3 different questions that determine the amount of loot):
- Think like a fish.
- Give in to naptime.
- Thrash and splash. Take it out and put it back in the water.
Next, provided that you have this recipe unlocked, do not cook until Maria is rank 7 (Determination + Cookbook). After that, you can cook, but only 1 at a time, because the bonus food from the Cookbook skill literally only gives +1 to the result.
As for the build for the battle - a party of 2 characters, the Main Character and Stroll with their royal archetypes. The best clothes there are, if possible with a bonus to the stats +8 and +5. If there is an accessory for double crits - give it to Stroll.
Skill inheritance: Strengthening of all-crushing (GG) / cutting (Stroll) blows; Strengthening of the 1st row; Warming up; Dangerous exchange.
Battle tactics (in order of MC, Stroll and in a circle): Hero's Cry, Concentration, Royal Cleave, Divine Delicacy. Next for attack are Royal Cleave for MC and Brave Swordsman for Stroll. The last move is again food for another 4 moves. When the mana runs out, use moves to restore the banks. And hope that the Divine Delicacy reserves are enough and there will be no miss when you have 2 moves.
